CC: Non-Harbaugh guy you want

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Who is the guy you want as the next head coach who is not named Harbaugh or Kevin Sumlin.

I've talked myself into it.....

From the Old Big 8 days (yes, i was at OU during this period):

Oklahome Sate Univ is NOT OSU but rather O State.  this is to avoid confusion with the OSU that we are more familiar with.

Als

o, Kansas State is K State.

Given the program's current state I think people would gladly contribute to growing a yard of fresh grass every week for Les to stand on while on the sideline on Saturdays...

No doubt he is a good coach and better than what we have, but he'd be "Lloyd Carr" frustrating. Did you see the game against MSU? Against the top defense in the country. Run up the middle...stuffed. Run up the middle...stuffed. Run up the middle...stuffed. Lose a game you shouldn't lose.

against State in the Rose Bowl on 4th and 1 against a stacked line?  I was stuck in Winter Classic, ice storm traffic so I had to listen to the game.  But it sounded like they ran a super conservative gameplan, especially on their last offensive play of the game.

After Mark Richt comes to MIchigan.

Why? Mark Richt will be forced out after losing control of Todd Gurley, who will actually run through the back of the stadium, smashing building and cars in his wake, until coming to rest at an endzone somewhere in a deserted high school field in North Carolina.

David Brandon hired the DC's and only gave Rich Rod $350,000 or whatever.  Does anyone really think RR and a competent AD couldn't find a decent DC if he was allowed the same $1 million Brandon decided to pay Mattison?

RR is 4-0 right now and will probably be 4-1 after this weekend''s game against Oregon.  Michigan could easily be 2-4 in an easier conference.

Why can't we get guys like that?

I know that Satan himself would probably beat Brandon in a popularity contest these days, but Rich Rod was hired by Bill Martin, not Dave Brandon. Brandon was only around for the final year of Rich Rod's tenure.

Rich Rodriguez was a disaster here. Both his defense and special teams were ATROCIOUS. Nothing at Arizona indicates that anything has changed.

The man simply is not cutout at coaching at a program with UM's level of expectations. Zona is a middling football school with moderate expectations.8-5 is good enough there. That isn't the case here.

He finally got rid of Tony Gibson.  It has made a difference there.  Arizona's first defense under RichRod was worse than his 2010 Michigan defense by 40 yards per game, which boggles the mind.  It's tragic that RichRod had to throw away an opportunity of a lifetime in order to come to grips with the fact that his drinking buddy was sinking his career.

So much pain.  So many harsh lessons learned.

Don't let facts get in the way of you bias.  You're on the internet!!!  Did RR know how to field a decent defense and special teams while at West Virginia?   Then he forgot when he got here?  Use some common sense.  Was it the defensive backfield of a walk on, converted WR, OLB and a freshmen or was it the coach?   Hmmm.

That was his defensive backfield in 2010? must have missed that. Al borges had a productive offense at san diego state.  The big east is like a half step better than the MAC winning there means you can move up to a mid level program and thats about it.
