Option 1: Lance Anderson, but he's waiting to see if David Shaw goes to NFL and Stanford HC opens up (hence the current "I'm staying, love it here" stance).

Option 2: Aranda, if Anderson takes Stanford.

Option 3: Mattison for 1 year, if Aranda does not want to wait and goes to USC.

Option 4 (in 2017): After Mattison ably holding down the fort for a year with very good personnel to work with, either promote the younger Jackson with another year of additional tutelage under Mattison, or get an option from the 2016 crop (maybe Orlando gets a closer look at that time; maybe Derek Mason is on the market).

Sitake didn't exactly put up great numbers ot Oregon State. Third choice for BYU, at least.

Might be a great recruiter but BYU fans are going to be disappointed after Mendenhall, IMO.

but for the past 10 years (2006 through 2015 YTD) they've won 93 games. This would tie them with Georgia for the 12th spot vs all major (P5+ND) teams over that same period. I don't think that's too shabby. Michigan, by the way, has 75 wins over that same period, but none of us are particularly happy about that.

Not arguing at all with respect to your future expectations for BYU.

But the offense likely stays the same. Niumatalolo is an triple option guy, born and bred. Plus I don't think BYU able to offer as much of a raise while not offering the kind of security he has at Navy(He is well on his way to becoming Navy's Fisher DeBerry).

Wonder if Gary Andersen makes a run to bring Aranda to OSU to replace Sitake? I assume that he tried to bring him when he moved last year, so not sure if anything's changed to get him to go now. Still, have to assume that's who he would want.

No way of knowing how good Anderson actually is when he's been dc so few years. The defense wasn't very good this year though. USC, UCLA, Oregon State, Washington State, Oregon, and Notre Dame all scored north of 25 points on them this year.
