Butler Stuns IU...Jinx Averted

Submitted by coldnjl on

With 1:46 left in the game, Butler is up 71 to 68 on IU. Butler has played unbelieveable in the second half, but Andrew Smith just fouled out after abusing Zeller all game.

EDIT#1. Game on CBS. IU down 2 with 1:14 left

EDIT#2. OT...

Butler wins 88 to 86 in OT

Brad Stevens is a hell of a coach!

Indiana had the momentum, and are hurting themselves now...2 bad fouls to great free throw shooters and that loss of focus by Ferell when he kicked that ball out of bounds...Butler 74 IU 69 with 35.5 seconds left

In basketball you definitely want the conference to be as strong as possible. Every non conference loss diminishes conference reputation while every non conference win enhanced it and makes conference wins more valuable.

You could say one loss doesn't matter but if it turns into a three loss non conference schedule then what was once a quality win turns into an ok win.

Most important thing is for Michigan to take care of business.

Great play. I guess I don't really care who wins, Indiana winning is good for the B1G but it would be sweet to see us ranked #1 at some point. Just rooting for a good finish, which this is.

I don't really care who wins this game, to be honest. Being ranked #1 for a while isn't that big of a deal to me. What I am taking away from this game is that Brad Stevens practices the same form of witchcraft that Greg Mattison does. How is Butler still this good? And they already destroyed UNC this year. I love that he is staying at Butler and trying to turn this team into an annual power.

I think the biggest thing to take away from the game is that Zeller isn't the end-all be all greatest thing ever. He can be shut down. Granted, when we go into Assembly Hall, touching him will be a foul, but IU isn't as dominant as Kentucky was last year

Taking a second look at yogi's three to force OT, Zeller was all over the guy on the pick.  Offensive foul, game over.  But there's always the advantage of being the future #1 draft pick.

This is just an incredible basketball game to be having in early December. We can't really do the same thing in basketball, but the Michigan schools definitely need to do this every year in hockey. The intensity is great to see at this time of the season.
