BTN's Tom Dienhart on his visit to the submarine

Submitted by The Mad Hatter on

The five things he learned at practice today.  This may have been covered already in the Twitter thread, but that one is getting a little full.

TL:DR - Rudock starts at Utah, OL is has improved, secondary could be good, pass rush is meh, uses the word "stud" in regards to RB's.

His comments on the D-Line make that unit sound mediocre, which is contrary to what Ira Weintraub and Marcus Ray were saying last week. They think its one of the deepest units on the team (even post-Mone injury). Ray thinks Wormly and Taco will be a force at the ends, with Ojemudia coming in as a very effective rush end/LB in certain packages. Ray also thinks Willie Henry will play in the NFL. They agree that Glasgow will be our most dominant D-lineman.

Dienhart's comments actually read more like its Rudock no contest. DiNardo is the one who thinks both QBs play in the opener (which I could see happening as well if Harbaugh sees any chinks in the armor of Utah's secondary and feel like throwing Shane in there to launch a couple of balls deep).

A little misleading by the OP in regards to RB. I thought you were saying they referred to one of the RBs as a stud. Rather, they said we are longing for a stud to emerge.

Maryland vs. Michigan on B10 network. Have actually never watched the game because obviously. But why the fuck would they air this as a classic game? Classic Hoke I guess. So glad that is behind us!

Right after norfleet returns one to the house...this game wasn't as bad as Moon (except we lost). I think why this game stands out in my mind is because it was such a low point for me.

Another uninspired performance by both players and coaches, a halftime 5-star decommit, the stadium with a bigger bald spot than George Costanza, and a drizzly 4th quarter collapse.

A weakness for too long, the Wolverine front finally looks primed for success. And, that’s good news for an offense that has uncertainly at the skill positions.

Yeah, but the better this group plays, the less you tend to need world-beating play at skill positions generally, or at least in my own opinion. That will definitely help as things continue to improve overall.

Reading that, did he really say anything? His observations all seem to be based on last year rather than anything he actually saw today. Rudock starts because he has more experience, rather than he looked better in practice etc. I'm not sure we learned anything from this piece other than who's running with each unit.
