Brionte / Recruiting Thread
Haven't seen a thread about recruiting today, which is my biggest interest from now until the bowl game. Here is a LINK which quotes Brionte as saying he does not want to play in a spread offense. Not exactly new news but it is the first quote I've seen directly from him.
Any other recruiting updates?

If Dunn is enrolling *anywhere* early it seems like he'll have to make a decision pretty damn soon.

Man, I miss TomVH on here. Ace gives very little recruiting updates.
November 28th, 2011 at 1:30 PM ^
and the mag just for TomVH. He still does visit reactions, weekly updates and recruiting updates pretty regularly.
In all fairness, there has not been that much recruiting activity since Tom left, up until the last few games. But remember that Tom has had years to build relationships with these recruits (2012) and Ace has not. Ace is doing a nice job with 2013 recruits and he will get it going.
Thanks Ace and Tom for all you do!

was Tebow, and more Tebow. The RB was a decor/ blocker for Tebow.
With a guy like Miller at QB (great runner, below average passer), I don't see how Meyer doesn't run an RR spread O.

I think Borges experience and diversity will help with Dunn and future recruits. He talks about moving toward Man-ball, but has the brains to use the talent he has. He is flexible. And I think this experience with Denard will help Borges to use more of his genius playbook. Man-ball players would be attracted to the intent and direction while Spread players would be attracted to his adaptability and creativity. All is good, the future is bright for recruiting.
Postscript... I am an unabashed optimist.

Spread off is a great thing if you want to have a good college resume. If you want to impress the pros you want a pro style off in your future. They want to see you run, block, pick up the blitz etc. Its $$$$$$$$$$$ in the pros vs yardage in school. With the O line coming at Mich, Dunn will make much more cash in 3 or 4 years coming here. See where Trent Richerdson is drafted next year not to mention Mark Ingram.

On a side note, Kyle Kalis has been bumped up to #27 in the country, and a five-star on rivals new Rivals 100.
November 28th, 2011 at 12:51 PM ^
your link says #21 fwiw.
November 28th, 2011 at 1:20 PM ^
Now Michigan lean Garnett is the highest rated 4*.
November 28th, 2011 at 12:48 PM ^
Wiff on Dunn and M needs to put the GMATT hold on Isaac for 2013.
November 28th, 2011 at 3:19 PM ^
Seriously, when you go for 515 yards on 26 carries in a State Championship game, thats pretty rediculous.
November 28th, 2011 at 12:50 PM ^
anybody else heard about this guy? He's a 5 star interested in Michigan!

Is this a joke?
November 28th, 2011 at 12:55 PM ^
Hey if he's got an arm and accuracy looks don't matter lol
November 28th, 2011 at 12:58 PM ^
I guess this is not a joke.....waaaatt waaaahhhh

Kiel has been discussed six million times on this site, prior to the season even starting. Let me break it down quickly:
Flirted with us, some school in Oklahoma (too lazy to check if it was OU or OSU), and Indiana. Surprised everyone when he committed to Indiana (it is near his home and his brother goes there). Dropped off our radar. He decommitted from IU recently and that is that. Some rumors of him flirting with ND now I think.
We had a few 5* QB prospects we talked to (including Kiel) but from the looks of things with the slots left we're taking: WRs, OL, and Wright or Dunn if they fall into our laps. Also maybe that 5* DE out of Harrisburg if Brown is really decommitted.
The staff has reached out to no QBs since preseason and talking to some 5*s. The current theory is that if we take a player of QB like susbtance, its an athletic one that is an insurance policy. Once we have Morris locked up and ready to go in the system said QB would likely get converted to WR or Percy Harvin type player.
If Kiel knocks on our door we would talk to him, but given his constantly shifting mind I doubt our staff goes hard after him. Better to spend time getting another true corner, some stud WRs and keeping Morris solid for 2013.

so I do apologize. I'm going through the rivals pages and it's amazing to see Michigan in the mix for a lot of these 4 and 5 star recruits hell Ohio State barely has any interest at all right now but with Meyer at the helm as of 5:15 pm today my guess is that will most likely change although I do not see OSU in the top 10 by signing day even with Meyer. They still have to go through the punishment proceedings yet.
November 28th, 2011 at 1:14 PM ^
As a general rule of thumb this is where we stand for recruiting in terms of slots to fill:
2 WR, 1 OL, 1 DB (ideally a true CB, main target: Yuri Wright), 1 RB (Dunn), Possible Pharoah Brown replacement if needed
About the only games to play are what happens regard missing out on Wright (do we find a replacement DB, take an extra WR, or grab up some QB at the last minute al la Bellomy) and if one of those WRs is kind of a ATH/QB type prospect as well.
Any other rumors regarding 5*s don't make a lot of sense in terms of Hoke extending them an offer, unless we're filling holes created by decommits (knock on wood). So if Rivals posts some 5* LB has an interest in us, that's nice and all but the odds of him getting a committable offer are near zero.

damn microsoft. Sorry about the double post.
November 28th, 2011 at 1:59 PM ^
FYI, Microsoft doesn't control the internet. In fact, they have very little to do with the internet.
November 28th, 2011 at 3:18 PM ^
That would be Al Gore..
November 28th, 2011 at 1:23 PM ^
Amara Darboh who's a 4 star WR with high interest at Michigan and was at the game this Saturday to witness the win. Good way to promote the program for a young recruit. Don't know a whole lot a about him though.

November 28th, 2011 at 12:58 PM ^
He committed to Indiana (!) at the end of the summer, but has since backed out of that commitment because he realized that they're Indiana. Popular speculation has him heading to Oklahoma now. Rivals still lists us as a school of interest, but I don't think we have much of a shot.
November 28th, 2011 at 1:02 PM ^
Hoke has been able to pull some pretty impressive moves on the 2011-2012 class that came in this year so you never know. He has yet to visit Michigan it says so right now it looks all up in the air. From his videos he's got promise and potential to be a deep threat QB.
November 28th, 2011 at 1:05 PM ^
Assuming you are, Michigan was recruiting Kiel at one point, but things cooled when Michigan got a commitment from Shane Morris.
He's not coming to Michigan.
November 28th, 2011 at 1:07 PM ^
just stop.
November 28th, 2011 at 1:23 PM ^
Believe it or not, there are some in the MGoCommunity that are not as addicted as many of us. Cut the guy/gal some slack. In other words, YOU just stop.

Death to noobs
November 28th, 2011 at 1:04 PM ^
ND is the only school he has visited, and is scheduled to visit since it decommitment FWIW.
November 28th, 2011 at 9:36 PM ^
I believe this past weekend he had a couple unofficials down south. LSU and Vandy from what I read.
November 28th, 2011 at 12:53 PM ^
The emergance of Fitz doesn't hurt our chances at getting Dunn. I think it helps show hiim that there is oppurtunity to run the ball. Remember, Al Borges had cadillac and Brown at Auburn, so he does know how to use two great backs together
November 28th, 2011 at 1:48 PM ^
There should be enough carrys for him in this offense.
November 28th, 2011 at 1:06 PM ^
Dunn digs diamonds and garnetts, right? Take those five and wrap up the best recruiting class in a long time.
November 28th, 2011 at 1:14 PM ^
when DRob graduates next year, say goodbye to the spread and hello to the power offense!
November 28th, 2011 at 1:27 PM ^
In other creepy news, Dunn's twitter pic is no longer of him wearing Ohio State gear, but on the sidelines at one of the Michigan games. Commence reading into this! I actually really feel for the guy, he clearly wants to go to Ohio and the cards are just not falling into place for him. That being said, I think he falls in love with Michigan and the coaching staff if he chooses to come here.
November 28th, 2011 at 1:29 PM ^
I was about to post this...
November 28th, 2011 at 1:32 PM ^
i really hope he makes the right choice, whether its blue or not. please, can all the twitter people just leave him alone. let the kid decide, for us or against us.
November 28th, 2011 at 1:47 PM ^
I don't tweet these recruits, I just read what they post on twitter... You can learn a lot about what they think about there visits...
November 28th, 2011 at 3:08 PM ^
I support u. Nothing wrong with reading other people's public comments
November 28th, 2011 at 4:37 PM ^
no, i think you are fine, following is fine. i just hope we are not bothering him and he can make the right decision.
November 28th, 2011 at 4:32 PM ^
I'd say it's a little presumptive to say that his heart is with Ohio as some other people have said as well. Yes he wanted to go there initially, but a lot of the players from Ohio never even consider other places. Could be that once he stepped out of the armpit he found his heart in Ann Arbor but he's just a loyal guy. Could also be what you're saying. There's just no way of knowing.
November 28th, 2011 at 3:46 PM ^
Except faster and a stronger arm.
November 28th, 2011 at 2:12 PM ^
does anyone on here know what happened with Billy Price and his tweeting during the game?? im seeing little things that point to him being very-pro Ohio while at the game but i dont see anything concrete as to what he said.
his tweets have been removed and there is just a LOT of apologies to sam webb, and other M followers. im curious, so any info would be cool.
November 28th, 2011 at 2:48 PM ^
He made some questionable remarks. They have been removed. He apologized. End of story.
November 28th, 2011 at 2:53 PM ^
i mean i gathered that he made questionable remarks. i was curious to what extent. no big deal, but if he really wanted or wants to come here then id rather knw going in how a person really feels.

Saying M was classless, this and that while rooting for ohio.. Who cares

They weren't super offensive, but after an OSU TD, he was doing a little trash talk and said something along the lines of
"Lets go OSU #buckeyenation"
