Brian Tweets That Harbaugh Accepted Job On Dec 22
Hopefully over the next few days/weeks Brian lets us know some of the insider info he had but couldn't make public. He tweeted this out a bit ago

Harbaugh took the Michigan job on December 22nd. It is over. It has been over. NFL reporters continue to make fools of themselves.

Awesome.

explains a lot about that post from Christmas day that was deleted.
December 29th, 2014 at 1:28 PM ^
could you elaborate for those that missed it?
December 29th, 2014 at 2:28 PM ^
I didn't see the post, but it might have been deleted because it relayed too much information from The Edge of The Internet™. Brian has scrupulously avoided linking to or mentioning that place by name. It may also have included insider information (possibly from Gregg Henson, who has been the most plugged-in of anyone throughout this process) that was seen as being too sensitive to divulge.

Brian posts on the board, he may be more free with his info over there.

a guy who claimed that to know that Harbaugh's decision was supposed to be last Monday (which is actually when IT happened, according to Brian).
However, it was titled "Walking it back a bit", implying that there were second thoughts on Jim's part (since it wasn't done), and that Jim's agent may be out there shopping a deal. This is of course just about when everyone was actually believing the 95%+ probability. It did not make for a great Christmas morning read, and in retrospect was obviously incorrect.
Thanks go out to the mods for stopping more panic-inducement on the holiday.

I was listening to Michigan Insider this morning and JUB said that JH had been thinking about this job as a possibility since JUNE! When he and the 49ers couldn't come to an agreement about an extension. That blows my mind.

At that point no one expected us to go 5-7 and the Niners to miss the playoffs. A lot of things had to come together for this to happen. I guess you can say, it was meant to be.

According to every NFL reporter ever, his heart has always been in the NFL, and is apparently still in the NFL.
Screw the supposed "high road". Those assclowns were wrong and deserve to be called out for it now that it's official.
And you know what? Let's rub it in the face of Cowherd while we're at it. He took a shot at Michigan's supposed "arrogance" for thinking we know more than anyone else (read: national media and NFL guys). You know what? We were right, damnit. We were right the whole damn time. If that makes us arrogant, then fine. But at least our arrogance meant something...unlike those protecting "The Shield" (tm).

This really makes me dislike the NFL more than I have over the past seven or eights years. I still like watching my team (Browns) and I'll watch the playoffs every year, but in no way, shape, or form does the NFL even compare to NCAA football. It's hacks like these idiotic NFL reporters who simply cannot comprehend why anyone would leave their precious organization for a college job who make me dislike the league.
December 29th, 2014 at 12:48 PM ^
then you have to believe that these "NFL Insiders" also knew that It Happened already and that they were mining this for the clicks.

Brian and co have done an amazing job throughout, and he obviously has better sources than almost any other journalist out there. Can we now put a big, ugly stake through the heart of the idea that "traditional" media are the better journalists? Brian has acted the part, and radio/TV/papers have made fools of themselves ignoring the obvious and reporting the dubious.

Anyone following the Harbaugh search closely (mostly M fans) have seen it laid out now. The Michigan bloggers crushed their mainstream counterparts - almost laughably so. Apparently the Michigan bloggers knew the job was already accepted while NFL and newspaper reporters were (and still are!) saying things like "Michigan believes they have Harbaugh's interest". The equivalent of a 70-0 beatdown, it was just non-competitive.
December 29th, 2014 at 12:46 PM ^
More like 70-3... You've got to give ESPN credit for their stellar work in reporting the news today.

Said it was likely that Harbaugh to M, but that that NFL still possibility.

If we are handing out credit, Marcellus Wiley probably deserves his due. Not sure exactly when his originaly Tweet came out, but it was probably around the 22nd. (I'm not lazy, I just don't use Twitter to fact check).

Whether they were in denial, they disagreed, or whatever the case may be; one thing is for certain.....HE WANTED TO COME HOME! And this proves it. He didn't even want to hear offers from other teams. Otherwise he would have waited.

Bears fans are combing the sky, hoping to see the Michigan Private Jet as it passes near Chicago on the way to Ann Arbor.
Rumor has it that The Superfans are flying over the city, pulling a banner saying "Jim, save Da Bears", and hoping that Jim sees them as he looks out the window at the city where he once played.

This is so dumb. Bears and Jets fired GM too, and you don't hire a coach before a GM....it undermines everything a GM is hired to do...totally backwards.

He was hired before the GM and the GM hated him. They didn't mesh and he's gone.
You'd be doing the same thing.
That said, someone could potentially make him head coach and GM like Bill Belichick.

I love how so many of the NFL guys (Schefter included) are now saying that Harbaugh went to Michigan because there weren't any good NFL job openings or no one wanted to match Michigan's offer. Okay, sure guys, sure.
December 29th, 2014 at 12:47 PM ^
- Miami
- New York Jets
- Chicago
- Oakland
then what is a good job? Seriously asking the question because I have no clue how they can even argue that point

Agree. What the hell constitutes a good job?

Those are some very good options, especially Chicago and New York(two big market teams). He also could have gone to Oakland(remember those sources that said his wife didn't want to move) and stayed in the Bay Area.
