He’s probably #1 in all purpose yards?

Edit:

” Corum ranks first nationally in all-purpose yards per game (193.7), No. 3 in rushing yards per game (135.7), and tied for first with 8 total touchdowns.”

Problem is he only added 138 all-purpose yards this week with 0 kick return yards. NCAA website hasn’t updated the rankings yet for all purpose yards but that output drops Corum from 221.5 ypg to 193.6. Which would have ranked him 6th heading into this week. Obviously depends a bit on what other players did but it’s possible he fell out of the top spot

Kick return yards are a good way to inflate all-purpose numbers.

Weird fact: the one USC game I went to when I lived in California happened to be that epic 50-42 win over Fresno State in 2005 (the night of that year’s injurious OSU game—I was going to go to the Stanford game earlier in the year, but my friend and I settled on this one and it turned out to be a good choice). That was the night that Reggie Bush had that famous sideline stop-in-his-tracks play, when he gained over 500 all-purpose yards.

Bush was dominant, of course, but a key to hitting that ridiculous 500-yard number was that Fresno scored a bunch of TDs, which meant that he got to pile up a lot of yards on kickoff returns where you get 20 or so yards for free.

I mean, he still had a bunch of huge runs and a long pass reception, so it wasn’t a mirage, but returning kicks does pump the numbers a bit.

Corum indeed looks like a special back that we haven’t had in well over a decade. Haskins is really good too, great change of pace, just not as talented as Corum.

This year is already well exceeded my expectations. I don’t care if it was NIU, just being able to see a functional offense…RB’s looking special…a capable QB.  Man that was fun yesterday.

A lot of people have been talking about his speed. I noticed a lot of analysts and beat writers on Twitter were saying he is very fast. He hasn't had issues getting to the edges. He has home run speed. Which every team Sparty has played has misjudged his speed. Players have taken poor angles to try and tackle him. And he blows right by them. Corum is faster I think...but that Walker kid is deceivingly fast.

I like to watch Sparty closely. 15 years ago I wouldn't have watched any of their games unless they were playing us. However, the times have changed and I like to scout out UM's opponents. The days are gone of it being pretty much a forgone conclusion that we will beat Sparty. I have learned to not get my hopes up this early in the season from the continuous let downs. Some people like to make excuses as to why Walker is looking like a beast. Or that Corum is significantly better than Walker because this or that. It pains me to say it, but Tucker is doing some positive things for Sparty. Which if you told me after last year they would be looking this good...I would have laughed at you. I had them pegged to be a 6 win team. Well...they are half way there 3 games into the season. They look good. UM looks good. We will see where the chips fall.

Not completely sold on MSU. They haven't played a team with a winning record. Miami is 1-2, whose only win is against App State and they needed a kick-off return and a blocked punt to do it. They are just bad.

Northwestern put up more passing yards against MSU than they did against. Duke.

We'll get a measure for how good both teams are after Rutgers.

It is true Miami is bad and Northwestern is bad, but it's not like MSU squeaked out a couple close or fluky wins. They beat the hell out of both of those teams, as a good team would do. Everything I've seen from them (which granted I haven't sat down and watched any of their games start to finish) is legit. I think their running game is legit. Their passing numbers may be a little inflated based on opponent, but they can run the ball and they still play pretty good defense.

I do think the game in East Lansing is going to be difficult to win. MSU is winning games the way good teams win games, overpowering opponents at the line of scrimmage, not turning the ball over and appear to be competent with the pass and very good on the ground. I think Michigan can beat them, but they're going to have to bring their A game, and they'll have to match MSU's intensity. If they don't, I think it's likely they'll be heading home with back-to-back L's. And the thought of that seriously makes me sick to my stomach.

I’m just happy to see someone that has been developed and putting up some stats. We’ve had multiple promising skill players in the last decade that just haven’t had the impact we were expecting. Maybe that’s lack of player development or simply bad luck and whiffing on a lot of great prospects, probably a little of both.

Probably the most impactful skill player since…Denard?

We wouldn't have been able to feed everybody if Charbonnet had returned.  Looks like he fell back to earth this week against Fresno State.  2 TDs, 19 yards on 6 attempts and a loss.

Lightening has amazing balance.  Thunder is quicker than his nickname suggests.  Both are excellent and hard to tackle.  Donovan Warren looks terrific as well.  Agree they make an epic trio.
