This is the guy I want. Quite an impressive resume.

In case you don't know or forgot, Donovan won back-to-back national championships at Florida in 2006 & 2007 and has been to 4 Final Fours. He nearly had 3 national titles, coming up short in the title game in 2000 in just his 4th season.

502-206 (.709) career. 467-186 (.715) at Florida.

From 2011-2014 Florida went to the Elite Eight every single year and went to the Final Four in 2014 with a 36-3 and 18-0 SEC record. Got destroyed in the 2013 Elite Eight against a B1G team who was coached by a very nice man.

6 SEC Regular Season titles, 4 SEC Tournament titles, 3x SEC coach of the year. This is in the same conference as Kentucky.

This would be a great hire.  By far my number 1 choice not that my opinion matters at all but it will save me a lot of internet griping if this happens.

According to one guy who actually merely says he should be at the top of Michigan's list. What a crappy title (not yours, the article's).

I think this is one of those perfect storm situations. He is in the last year of his contract, there are issues between him and Westbrook, which rarely if ever pans out well for the coach, and he has greatly underperformed his expectations. They wanted to be a contender, not just play extended seasons. I actually think there is a decent to good chance that this occurs

Don't read the article and give Thunder Wire clicks. 'According to Mike DeCourcy of Sporting News, Donovan should be at the top of that list'

Mike DeCourcy THINKS that Michigan SHOULD hire Donovan so now he is the top choice?

Well guess that's settled then.

Michigan struck gold with beilein in getting a guy that was as clean as they come. Theyre not getting anyone worth a shit that doesnt cheat, so that shouldn't be an objection unless they were dumb enough to get caught up in the FBI probe. That should be a disqualifying factor on sheer stupidity.

Even if they got proof, fuck it. It's college basketball, baby. As long as you don't turn yourself in, you're getting away with everything. Michigan Wolverines 2020 National Champs with coach Billy Donovan!!

Is there any proof that Calipari has cheated at UK? Not really, but everyone knows that he is. Same could be said about Coach K

Michigan and Villanova both had 1 national title until..................Jay Wright won them their second in 2016.

Michigan has played in 7 titles games. Villanova has been in 4.

Michigan has 8 Final Fours. Villanova has 7

Michigan has 14 B1G Championships, Villanova has 12 regular season conference titles

They're a basketball school but let's not distort truth here.

Those recent championships still happen to putt Nova at 3 to a Michigan 1.

Being 1-6 in championships sucks I know.

Regardless, Wright has always been an east coast guy. He rebuilt Nova he’s not leaving. The only thing I see him leaving for is the Sixers job if it opens this summer.

I largely agree with your comparison of Villanova and UM basketball.

Just one small note:  Villanova has spent a majority of its history as an independent program and didn't join a conference until 1975.  So Villanova has won 12 conference titles in the last 44 years, during which time Michigan has won five.  Obviously, UM earned its 14 titles, and it's not their fault that VU wasn't in a conference.  Also, VU has won 275 more games in its program history, which is shorter than Michigan's--though, prior to joining the Big East--Villanova was almost certainly playing inferior competition.

Anyway, as someone else suggested, Jay Wright is an East Coast guy, and I can't imagine him leaving that area for Michigan--at least not after the success of recent years.  Villanova has upgraded their facilities recently--though their resources have always been far more modest than most other top programs.  They have been fortunate to keep Wright all of this time.  One wonders if Wright will tire of a relatively easy path through the Big East every year.  (In a dream world, having Wright and Harbaugh on the same campus would really be something.)

Isn't this just a case of throwing shit on the wall, and seeing if it sticks, so you can be the first to say, I knew he would be the guy.
