Big Monetary Loss In Bowl Game

With the performance from trask tonight and a potential high draft position on the line, has his awful game cost him more money than anybody prior to him?

You should try living in SEC country. I live in Kentucky, where football really sucks but basketball has been historically really good. I have to hear about the SEC SEC SEC all the way until basketball starts and then its all UK until March Madness and then its how many SEC teams got in the tourney and let's root for all of them. Its a friggin cult!

Even if UK misses the tournament these morons will still root for the 2-3 SEC teams that get in. I've never seek a fanbase or a conference as whole root for everyone else like the SEC does. If one does well its as if they all won something. In football they've been living off of Bama's back for years.

That all started with ESPN on the SEC bandwagon.  When I was a kid you never heard about the conference, it was about your team.  Now it's all SEC all the time on ESPN.  Then they created the fake Bowl Challenge that they show about 10 times during every bowl game.

It's stupid.  I don't root for B1G, I root for UM.  I can watch a game between a B1G team and an SEC team and start rooting for the SEC team if the story line is good.

I was in a fantasy league with a UK grad who had no connection to Alabama except they were in his conference and he prattled on about them for years whenever the Big 10 came up.  Even when Kentucky was decent at football he only talked up Alabama and whatever other teams might have been good.  It was crazy.  Like, I didn't cheer on PSU when they played in the damn Rose Bowl but this guy was taking shots at people when Alabama was playing for a title.

I took a few of my Arkansas friends to a Arkansas/Bama game several years ago.  My father side of my family are all Bama alum and/or fans.  We were tailgating and I asked my cousin, who is an alum, if Bama fans care if Arkansas wins or loses.  Just like I wanted, he told us that they don’t need Arkansas to win so they don’t care.

That's true, you did.  But what you did not do is the following:

1. Identify in the title who in fuck you are talking about.

2. Identify in the title which fucking bowl game you are referring.  I know it may by somewhat surprising but none of us have a clue of what you were thinking about when you created the thread.

If you had spent the extra six seconds to type "name of player costing self lots of money with poor performance in name of bowl game" you would get no criticism on the thread.  People here hate mystery thread titles (read the comments in the one created yesterday titled "Jordan Poole" and you'll see what I mean).

IMO they get pissed because they dont understand why they're getting called out.  The VAST majority of the shitty-title posters are infrequent/casual visitors/contributors to the board so they dont know the "house rules".  So they think everyone else is just being mean to them for no good reason and get defensive.

Now, if the curators to these fine establishment would ever restore the ability to edit posts like we used to be able to do pre-Huel the OP could simply say "mea culpa" and fix the thread.  But because he cant do that he's stuck getting wacked for his shitty title until this gem falls off the side board later this morning.

If the NFL only looks at one game, then Rocky Lombardi should be a first round pick based on his performance against UM.

I haven't watched one yet as the interest just isn't there this year.  Bowl games of today are not at all as prestigious like they were back in the 80's and 90's.  A few years ago I was not in favor of expanding the playoff, but now I find it absolutely necessary to do so.  It will help to create more meaningful bowl games and also start to shift the balance of power a bit from Bama, Clemson, and Osu.

I thought somebody bet the farm on the wrong team.....

Then I read the rest of the OP's post.

Oh well, our basketball team plays in about twenty hours ?

Go Blue ???

I had never watched Stafford play until his final bowl game.   He was unbelievably terrible.   He turfed 3-4 throws to wide open guys, and did nothing impressive.    I couldn’t believe he was supposed to be drafted so highly.

then the Lions took him.  I was sure how it would turn out.  I was wrong.

So blame the guy that puts up gaudy numbers every year for all of the problems the Lions have as an organization...  The guys that blame Stafford for everything are dummasses.  Can he win games on his arm?  Sure can, has done it many times.  Can he win games coming from behind?  Sure can, has done it many times.

Can he play defense, OL, WR, TE, RB, head coach, and General Manager all at them same time?  Nope - HE SUCKS, THROW HIM OFF A CLIFF!!!!

I did the exact same thing as SDCran. Wasn't impressed with Stafford at all. He is hands down the best QB the Lions have had in my 52 years.

He may have a bit of Marino in him, where the defense can bait him into throws he thinks he can make but he can't, but otherwise he's top notch talent-wise and he plays hard too.

Not his fault he plays for a disfunctional franchise.

It might cost him a few spots, but he won't fall far. Based on what I've seen, I'd still prefer my team to take Trask over Fields or Trey Lance if they were looking for a franchise QB. I especially don't get the hype for Lance

Heisman candidate QB and Dan Mullen went 8-4 this year.

Any chance we’ve seen the last of the, “We shoulda hired THAT guy when we had the chances” posts?

Well, Trask clued me in to the idea that the OP wanted to discuss how badly he may have hurt his draft stock by spearheading an effort to lose badly to Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl, and I suppose my guess is that there is still room for this to be a "fail upward" moment because there are bad NFL teams that need otherwise serviceable QBs.
