Beveled Guilt

Submitted by petrocity on

Take a look at what Brian has done for all of us over the last month, and hopefully you don't need more of a reason (It's also Christmas) to donate to him and his team.

Well done, sir!

You are quite possibly the grumpiest person I have encountered today.  First you sound like a dick about donating and you can argue that point all you want but most people read it as a dick-ish comment.  Second, you take a shot at old Jewish women, really classy.  Now you're on some bitch-fest about the use of sir.  I think you need to do the opposite of what Dave Brandon would advise.  Go have a drink and stay up for a while.  You need to blow off some steam.

Seriously, what was dense about my comment?  If you're going to just throw out a random insult at least give an explanation.

But, as I mentioned in the thread about the new tweets from @thosewhostay7, I'm convinced you're just a troll.  So, please just delete your account, start a new and we'll start playing this game again.

Well, Sir, you are an idiot!

Try calling someone sir, not to make them feel old or sell them anything,  just out of pure courtesy. You'll feel better about yourself.

Then, next time someone calls you sir, imagine they're doing the same, and you'll feel even better!

Nope, some people were just taught by their parents to be respectful. When a teenager holds a door open for me and I say "Thank you, sir", I'm certainly not selling anything nor making any subtle jab on his age. He showed respect to me, I'll return it back verbally.

Maybe you apparently being such a disrespectful ass is the reason why you're unfamiliar with how often "sir" is used as an unconditional title of respect. Lighten up a bit and people may start using it nicely with you more often.

I've refreshed the page thousands of times. He's personally made hundreds of dollars from me.

You're welcome, Brian.

You can donate all you want. I'm not discouraging anyone from giving their entire nest egg to this site.

But I will be relying on my personal pageviews to compensate Brian for his great work.

Thank you for your concern.

seen those silly comercials that say "For the price of a cup of coffee, you can..." blah, blah, blah....

I don't think its out of bounds to give 50 or 100 bucks once a year and not break anyone's bank.  Give what you can when you can, that's the message most folks would profess.

Seriously, this much argument against it from you makes you sound not only cheap, but also a dick.

Do you seriously believe what you just wrote?  Do you live in a vacuum?  Every post in this thread implies that you have no plans whatsoever of donating more than you claim you already have through page clicks.  You certainly have argued against it through your...you know what, you win.  Go ahead and have the last word if you want, all you buddy.  I don't care what you do with your money.

Dude.

It's your choice to do whatever you want with your money and compensate Brian by page clicks. That's totally cool and a way most of his readers compensate him.

However, you're a dick because of how you're going about defending that position.

It would be in the Christmas spirit to promote the 'beveled guilt' option and shut up.

Cheers! Merry Christmas.

Does anyone on this site know how to read? I simply stated my opinion once(and was forced to reiterate it a few times due to poor reading comprehension).

Goddamn, using this site is like wrestling with a pack of old deaf Jewish women.

How many packs of old Jewish women have you wrestled with personally? Just curious, since it's such an unusual analogy.

Please include for reference how many old deaf Jewish women it takes to make a "pack" and whether you were wrestling with them by yourself or with a group. If a group, how many were in your group?

Finally, I'd like to know how the wrestling match turned out. Who won? You (and your group) or the old deaf Jews?

I think you have a flawed view of how much a site makes per 1000 pageviews.

If you've visited 10,000 times (assuming you've been reading 4 years, refreshing 6x a day) using a different IP address each time Brian may have made $100. Maybe.

...but hesitant poster. After reading all of Brian's fine searchbits, I'll start contributing financially via using the MGoAmazon link. I average over $3K/year at Anazon (gulp). As I understand it from a discussion here a few weeks ago, MGoBlog will now get 4% of my Amazon purchases? Wish I had known about MGoAmazon sooner!
