People saying "sir" on the internet rustles my jimmies something fierce.
December 26th, 2014 at 5:14 PM ^
People saying "sir" in real life rustles my jimmies also. Nobody is a knight in this country, and there is no reason to show every person we encounter special respect.
December 26th, 2014 at 5:17 PM ^
How about it's just a term of respect?? When a server hands me a beer it's always thank you sir or ma'am. It's fucking respectful.
December 26th, 2014 at 5:20 PM ^
To be honest, I've found that it's mostly not used as a sign of respect anymore though. The only people who use it nowadays are either trying to sell you something, or trying to call you out for being older than them.
December 26th, 2014 at 6:26 PM ^
it must be true everywhere and all the time. You'd be a perfect candidate for a cable news show.
December 26th, 2014 at 7:14 PM ^
You are quite possibly the grumpiest person I have encountered today. First you sound like a dick about donating and you can argue that point all you want but most people read it as a dick-ish comment. Second, you take a shot at old Jewish women, really classy. Now you're on some bitch-fest about the use of sir. I think you need to do the opposite of what Dave Brandon would advise. Go have a drink and stay up for a while. You need to blow off some steam.
December 26th, 2014 at 8:00 PM ^
Please, don't be so dense.
December 26th, 2014 at 8:28 PM ^
Seriously, what was dense about my comment? If you're going to just throw out a random insult at least give an explanation.
But, as I mentioned in the thread about the new tweets from @thosewhostay7, I'm convinced you're just a troll. So, please just delete your account, start a new and we'll start playing this game again.
December 26th, 2014 at 7:26 PM ^
Well, Sir, you are an idiot!
Try calling someone sir, not to make them feel old or sell them anything, just out of pure courtesy. You'll feel better about yourself.
Then, next time someone calls you sir, imagine they're doing the same, and you'll feel even better!
Harbaugh!!!
December 26th, 2014 at 7:37 PM ^
Nope, some people were just taught by their parents to be respectful. When a teenager holds a door open for me and I say "Thank you, sir", I'm certainly not selling anything nor making any subtle jab on his age. He showed respect to me, I'll return it back verbally.
Maybe you apparently being such a disrespectful ass is the reason why you're unfamiliar with how often "sir" is used as an unconditional title of respect. Lighten up a bit and people may start using it nicely with you more often.
December 26th, 2014 at 7:49 PM ^
I even call people younger than me sir sometimes. I call my friends sir all the time.
December 26th, 2014 at 7:43 PM ^
I wish I could say I did it out of respect. I just do it because its second hat for me at this point. I just say sir and ma'am without thinking, which has caused some issues when a woman not much older than myself takes offense (although I like to assume it is primarily in jest)

Really, "Greeks for Harbaugh." Imagine how fucked up the world would be if everyone treated everyone else with respect. UNACCEPTABLE.
December 26th, 2014 at 5:41 PM ^
Respect is fine. However, fake respect for the purpose of trying to gain something from you is not.
December 26th, 2014 at 6:39 PM ^
Children call me Sir, and I like it.
December 26th, 2014 at 10:25 PM ^
You've dug yourself quite the hole. My advice for the best way to get out would be for you to stop digging.
December 26th, 2014 at 5:15 PM ^
That's just your opinion, sir.
December 26th, 2014 at 5:12 PM ^
I've refreshed the page thousands of times. He's personally made hundreds of dollars from me.
You're welcome, Brian.
December 26th, 2014 at 5:21 PM ^
What's your deal?
December 26th, 2014 at 5:25 PM ^
Brian does great work, but his website already has a way to directly compensate him for his great work.
December 26th, 2014 at 5:30 PM ^
right? 2009 wasn't that long ago.
December 26th, 2014 at 5:40 PM ^
"Brian does great work."
December 26th, 2014 at 5:43 PM ^
You can donate all you want. I'm not discouraging anyone from giving their entire nest egg to this site.
But I will be relying on my personal pageviews to compensate Brian for his great work.
Thank you for your concern.
December 26th, 2014 at 5:46 PM ^
seen those silly comercials that say "For the price of a cup of coffee, you can..." blah, blah, blah....
I don't think its out of bounds to give 50 or 100 bucks once a year and not break anyone's bank. Give what you can when you can, that's the message most folks would profess.
Seriously, this much argument against it from you makes you sound not only cheap, but also a dick.
December 26th, 2014 at 5:50 PM ^
I haven't argued against it at all. Not sure where you are getting that.
Just simply said that all of my Christmas money is allocated for other purposes.
December 26th, 2014 at 5:53 PM ^
Do you seriously believe what you just wrote? Do you live in a vacuum? Every post in this thread implies that you have no plans whatsoever of donating more than you claim you already have through page clicks. You certainly have argued against it through your...you know what, you win. Go ahead and have the last word if you want, all you buddy. I don't care what you do with your money.
December 26th, 2014 at 6:03 PM ^
Thank you.
I'm glad you finally have come around to the idea of free will.
December 26th, 2014 at 6:20 PM ^
Dude.
It's your choice to do whatever you want with your money and compensate Brian by page clicks. That's totally cool and a way most of his readers compensate him.
However, you're a dick because of how you're going about defending that position.
It would be in the Christmas spirit to promote the 'beveled guilt' option and shut up.
Cheers! Merry Christmas.

Does anyone on this site know how to read? I simply stated my opinion once(and was forced to reiterate it a few times due to poor reading comprehension).
Goddamn, using this site is like wrestling with a pack of old deaf Jewish women.
December 26th, 2014 at 7:56 PM ^
most of know how to read. However, most of us do not read/write as poorly as you. There was a post on the front page a couple days ago on this very subject. You should read it.
December 26th, 2014 at 9:06 PM ^
You stated your opinion, and are now just trolling for the sake of trolling. Please take your trolling and anti-semitic comments elsewhere
December 27th, 2014 at 12:29 AM ^
How many packs of old Jewish women have you wrestled with personally? Just curious, since it's such an unusual analogy.
Please include for reference how many old deaf Jewish women it takes to make a "pack" and whether you were wrestling with them by yourself or with a group. If a group, how many were in your group?
Finally, I'd like to know how the wrestling match turned out. Who won? You (and your group) or the old deaf Jews?

Dude. Take your meds. Please.

I think you have a flawed view of how much a site makes per 1000 pageviews.
If you've visited 10,000 times (assuming you've been reading 4 years, refreshing 6x a day) using a different IP address each time Brian may have made $100. Maybe.
December 26th, 2014 at 5:17 PM ^
You can bevel guilt pretty easily if you have a Dremel Tool (TM).
December 26th, 2014 at 5:22 PM ^
So Brian goes by the name "petrocity" now?
December 26th, 2014 at 5:23 PM ^
I'm gonna blow so much money if Harbaugh comes. Monday or Tuesday could destroy my bank account and liver.
December 26th, 2014 at 5:28 PM ^
Whatever. There was no Searchbits yesterday.

It's also Christmas
He's Jewish; donate 8 times!
December 26th, 2014 at 5:37 PM ^
...but hesitant poster. After reading all of Brian's fine searchbits, I'll start contributing financially via using the MGoAmazon link. I average over $3K/year at Anazon (gulp). As I understand it from a discussion here a few weeks ago, MGoBlog will now get 4% of my Amazon purchases? Wish I had known about MGoAmazon sooner!
December 26th, 2014 at 6:01 PM ^
Where's the link located?
December 26th, 2014 at 6:47 PM ^
4% seems really high. I thought it was like .04%??

It's 4%. Or more.
December 26th, 2014 at 5:48 PM ^
How much does the site make for each page click?
December 26th, 2014 at 6:02 PM ^
if there's one thing that people on the Internet hate, it is being told what they "should" do

Does beveled guilt come after feats of strength or after the airing of grievances?
December 26th, 2014 at 6:16 PM ^
I was thinking earlier this week how much I read, click and enjoy this blog. Lots of work to keep this going strong and so I will be beveling my guilt.
December 26th, 2014 at 7:22 PM ^
was. i mean, unless somebody mentioned it how would you know. now that i know, i have just given a bump to the site. least i could do given the quality of what goes on here. thanks brian and the mods.
