That's it.  Nothing else we can do now.

Get behind the players.  Take care of business against Maryland.

Make all those idiots from Columbus who are coming up for the game have a dismal experience.

I asked my buddy....he is surprised UM folded like a cheap lawn chair.

He suspects, but does not know, that some staff higher up may have had at least some deeper knowledge or dumb communications of Stalions tactics and it was going to make UM look worse in court.

UM legal and admin calculated this, and supposedly they are so far behind on the narrative and PR, that even nuking other programs (specifically OSU) would fall on deaf ears and look like sour grapes at this point.

To quote: UM felt the leaked info on Rutgers, OSU, Purdue collusion would go much further in the media than it did. They were also disappointed that the (Wake Forest stolen signs) Wakileaks story went nowhere.  They felt they were already fighting a very uphill battle publicly and nobody would care about historical pay for play, current pay for visits, and other sign stealing (like OSU having Don Brown's signals) because the outrage machine has already been pointed at UM.

I don't know what else the B1G had on UM, but it was clearly enough to make them flinch. UM indeed has a ton of dirt on OSU, but were skeptical on how they could weaponize it from their current position and how it would resonate.

TLDR: While I wish they nuked OSU and the B1G on the way out the door, they are already way behind in the PR battle, and having evidence of other stories just as scandolous or worse won't necessarily carry as much weight in the media, and the court case could have very well made UM look worse.

The notion that saying OSU boosters paid JT Barrett a few hundred bucks on the regular was never going to be helpful. I think they always knew that and just wanted to put it out there as a threat. No one cared.

The Wakeyleaks is an NCAA issue, not a conference issue. It was also a decade ago and no one will care, as we have already seen.

I think the OSU/Rutgers/Purdue thing did work. It got some people to back off and gives us something to actually point to. That Petitti didn't let it sway him is astounding. OTOH, maybe it did sway him. He had been contemplating an indefinite suspension, it seems.

I believe your buddy is very close to the actual truth, particularly how somebody else knew. I have a source that is much closer to this situation than I would ever care to admit, and I’ll leave it at that. At this point if three games without Jim is all we get, we should all be happy. JH is apparently falling on the sword.

I have a feeling that this isn’t the end of it. It’s just the end of it for now. I’m guessing the NCAA will continue its investigation until they’re able to get some resignations (beyond Stalions) out of it.
I don’t think we will have to vacate anything but I’m concerned we are going to lose some quality coaches, possibly even Harbaugh after the season (not because of the NCAA but because he’ll realize he’s playing against a stacked deck). Rumors from Balas say new evidence caused the change in position, but he’s been wrong about everything else, no sense in believing him now.
Win it all and if we have to get a new coach, at least we will have the memories of this season to hold us over while the new regime rebuilds the program.

This is exactly it.  UM fired back with dirt on other B1G schools and it didn't move the needle one iota.  This is a public opinion battle and right now public opinion is firmly against UM.  Better to take a few lumps, stay eligible for the postseason, and wait until a more advantageous time to leak information.

If this is how this thing ends, we lost and lost big.  Not only did we fold like a cheap suit, but we've essentially conceded that yes, in fact you can push us around and we won't fight back.  More importantly, if we're fortunate enough to sign Harbaugh to an extension, what stops the mob from further colluding to find something else to pressure Petitti/BIG to act recklessly?  If they selectively target a program to find dirt with a fine-tooth comb, they will.  And today, we proved that we won't defend ourselves.  Win or lose, this was our chance to fight back for once, but again, we showed the world we're still same old spineless Michigan.  And unfortunately, this is only the beginning, the mob will come back for more until they get what they want and again, we'll fold.  Sad day.  Today, I'm not proud to be a Michigan alum.

They don't care what you think. They hate us and we hate them. They think we are cheaters and they are yelling it at the top of their lungs. Trust the coaches, including Harbaugh, to get this done thru the senior leadership of this team. Unlike most of these posters, they are driven to success. This will be the greatest season in Michigan History.

Mock the university, the AD, the administration and the lawyers and I may even be inclined to do so as well.

But please do not mock the players and their unity. They are the ones who absolutely do not deserve all of this craziness. “Bet” is one of the things that demonstrates their commitment and determination.

So I was in Europe, and I got off a plane and saw a bunch of storefronts with 'BET' on them, and I was just like, "I did not expect this amount of love for African American culture, here," and then it turned out that they were all gambling establishments.
