Beneficiary of UCLA coaching turnover?

A crystal ball from a SoCal insider for a Cali WR to Michigan. Kyle Philips Committed to UCLA in April. https://247sports.com/Player/Kyle-Philips-90140 With the coaching carousel already spinning at UCLA, Tennessee, Florida and several more on the way out following this season I'm hoping for some of their recruits to end up in Ann Arbor. Maybe this is the first domino to fall?

Only watched the first 90 seconds, but didn't really see him run any actual routes.  He didn't seem to be particularly fast, but was just a little faster than the guys he beat.  Maybe he's more impressive later in the film, but most of those clips looked the same.  At best he would be a major project.  Small though at only 5'11" 180

Don't get me wrong, I trust the coaches evaluations a lot more than mine.  Maybe everyone in these clips has good speed.  Hands seemed to be good (not that he would post anything but nice catches.)  He was missed by a lot of tackles, but they looked more like poor tackles than him beating guys.  If he ends up Blue I will root for him to develop & hope to see a repeat of that screen.  I'd also be very glad that Martin is only a year ahead of him

The production UM has gotten from their non-freshmen receivers has been underwhelming this year.  I realize the passing game has been extremely underwhelming this year too but while we thought UM was stacked at wr before the season began, I'm beginning to wonder just how stacked UM is at this position group.  While I think the starters next year (DPJ and Black) should be solid I'm not sure how much depth (in terms of quality backups, not just bodies) we really have at this position group any more.

Jedd was a plant.

It was an inside job.

All your recruits belong to US.

Asiasi, you can scrub the secret agent makeup off, revealing your M-Block tattoo, and collect your undercover agent badge at Schembechler hall at 0700 hours.

Welcome home boys!

He could be the beneficiary of the coaching change if he gets the head job at UCLA. He is the new interim head coach and if they don't get their top choice, Jedd is the fallback position. Oregon State has reached out to him about taking the head coach job there, so it's not that far fetched. Offense was not UCLA's problem.

I agree that Jedd is the big beneficiary.  I don't see him being retained as HC though.  UCLA is a pretty big name and will attract enough attention that they will be able to scrub the entire staff.  However, I think this is Jedd's year as a coach/coordinator.  He will likely get a HC job somewhere.  He is a proven offensive mind with both NFL and major college experience.

I agree with both of you, but I am continually surprised by how poorly UCLA supports their football team. I have been to a few of their games at the Rose Bowl and the best comparison I can make is Purdue or Indiana. The stands are not full and there is usually a large contingent from the opposition. It is a basketball school. I live in LA and never have a problem finding the Michigan game on the TV. A fair number of UCLA games aren't even televised. You can blame the PAC-12 for that, but if UCLA fans cared more and the ratings were better, they would get more quality airtime.

The Rose Bowl is also an hour away from campus and it's a problem with getting continued support. There is some talk about trying to make an on campus stadium happen but it's all theoretical as the campus is basically on a postage stamp.

What was the family reason? I know his family never wanted him to leave California but was there an actual issue? I guess I thought he left because of the weather.

I remember he was interviewed on the locker room early in the season about never having seen snow. He said he had a coat but he was scared.

Follow that up with the Iowa and Indiana games and you have the worst case scenario. December was abnormally cold followed by one of the warmest January and Februarys. By the time the weather got better, he was gone.

There was a family medical problem of some sort (I think it was his mother) and he wanted (needed?) to be closer to them.  I have no ill will towards him since family must come first, but I think it's a shame; he would probably have done better had he stayed here and we definitely would have been better with him.

Life happpens.

If you're going to have a 3 star, I'll take one like this with major schools offering. Seems like the only 2/3 star guys to work out thus far for us is Higdon and Hudson. McKeon drops too many passes. Metellus gets lost in coverage a ton and misses tackles.

We are going to get better looks from a couple of recruits off of this firing. Bryan Addison is also a top target that’s deciding on UCLA or UM, Olijah Griffith Warren G’s son is also a guy we could look to get too.
