Basketball Uniforms(z?) watch for Sunday against iowa
I remember a thread on here from October that Michigan could wear a 4th uniform for B1G play per Brent Yarnia. Being that Sunday is Michigan's first B1G home game, I assume if that is true it would be worn.

Speculation? Check.

I'm more than ok with the throwback M on shorts or with M and then ichigan. I love those jerseys.
That said... Dave Brandin' has staffers check MGoBlog. Every 10 complaints for uniformz adds a new instance of uniformz. We are now at 1,113. Let's keep it positive. k thanks!

As long as we don't wear uniforms matching those shoes, I don't really care.

exact uniform distribution in the starting five. Two blue uniforms, two white and one maize.
Suck on that, Oregon! /s

The Nike swoosh is mysteriously missing in the Fab Five photo.
January 4th, 2013 at 9:24 AM ^
Was it ever on the jersey? Most Nike Basketball jerseys back then didn't have a swoosh on the top...they had an exterior tag at the bottom. It would be above the left thigh if untucked...
January 4th, 2013 at 9:27 AM ^
I guess you're right. I thought they were at least on the shorts.
January 4th, 2013 at 10:27 AM ^
Michigan didn't switch to Nike until the senior year of the Fab Five. The only members to wear NIke were Ray and Jimmy. The Fab Five uniforms you see above were made by Russell.
January 4th, 2013 at 10:32 AM ^
Junior year. The "we actually would have beaten Arkansas if Jalen could make a layup or the refs did not see Jimmy King simply being able to jump higher than Clint McDaniel as over the back" year. That was the first Nike year. Uniforms became a little heavier in terms of material, teh shorts went to more of a "pleated" look near the waste, swoosh on the left side. (I liked the Russel model better).
January 4th, 2013 at 10:43 AM ^
Really? We didn't sign the contract with Nike until 1994. So unless the conttract began on Jan 1st and we wore Nike uniforms right away during Big Ten play, we wouldn't have had them until the 94-95 season, meaning Jalen and Juwan were gone.
January 4th, 2013 at 10:46 AM ^
More research finds that the contract was announced Oct 20, 1994, meaning the first season we wore Nike was in fact the Fab Five's senior year.

Color me suprised. Notwithstanding this finding, I am absolutely certain that the uniforms went through some changes after their second year. In addition to the changes noted above, their was no "slit" in the side of their shorts Junior year and the M was lower and a bit smaller. Perhaps Nike just piggybacked on some changes Russel had already made and that is why my memory has betrayed me.
January 4th, 2013 at 3:34 PM ^
...Russell Fab Five uniforms were sweet then and still are.
January 4th, 2013 at 2:34 PM ^
This is only the second or third year that apparel manufacturers have been allowed to put their logo on their jerseys for basketball. (For football, for some reason, it's been allowed much longer.) So no jersey you see from the '80s or '90s will have a swoosh or anything else on it. That Rumeal Robinson jersey is a knock-off. (Nike didn't even make those uniforms then.)

We've worn "throwbacks" to those before. When we played OSU at home in 2009
January 4th, 2013 at 9:28 AM ^
I remember liking those a lot when we busted them out, I'd like to see them become part of the standard rotation.
January 4th, 2013 at 1:32 PM ^
Nike owns it. So how did we wear those uniforms in 2009? It wasn't Nike, but Adidas certainly didn't design the original version of those either.
January 4th, 2013 at 9:25 AM ^
I'm pretty sure I saw an announcement from adidas that showed the alternate jerseys for a bunch of teams, ours will be similar to the NBA christmas jerseys, all maize with all writing outlined in blue.
January 4th, 2013 at 9:28 AM ^
if that's true, it sucks. Those NBA jerseys were impossible to read on TV
January 4th, 2013 at 9:33 AM ^
yeah, they are that ugly... http://www.umhoops.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/image5.png
January 4th, 2013 at 9:55 AM ^
adidas would NEVER outfit one of our sports teams with jerseys that have illegible numbers...
January 4th, 2013 at 9:26 AM ^
Can Adidas copy the look of old Nike uniforms? If they can't use the same color because it's trademarked or whatever, I would imagine there is some similar rule about replicating the design, unfortunately.
January 4th, 2013 at 9:26 AM ^
I really wish the piping on the blue uniforms matched the maize in the text. It's not even close...
And this is why I like our maize uniforms the best (with the maize and blue shoes and socks).
January 4th, 2013 at 10:12 AM ^
The article I saw said it would be later in the season. Probably the Indiana game at the end of the year at home.

an extra 6 inches to the inseam...just sayin!
January 4th, 2013 at 10:39 AM ^
I see more posts about uniforms. I care way more about how the teams play than what the jersey colors look like. Just my opinion.
January 4th, 2013 at 10:52 AM ^
I was about to post the same thing. I hate all of these alternative jerseyz, but at the end of the day, I am certainly not going to get worked up about it - I care much more about how the teams play.
January 4th, 2013 at 11:03 AM ^
You hate them so much yet you're posting in a thread about uniforms(z).
Hmm.
January 4th, 2013 at 11:22 AM ^
Ahh, the old "I don't care about this thread" comment in a thread that the poster doesn't care about. Gotta love it!

I'm sure people on here would have had a freakout. The black socks are turrible! Black is not even our color! The shorts are too long!

January 4th, 2013 at 11:54 AM ^
People lost their freakin' minds over the Fab 5 uniforms--the black socks and shoes, the long shorts. I was 20 years from having a formal affiliation with the University, but I loved that team, the look, the trash-talking and the swagger. Pure hip hop...bring tha noise!
January 4th, 2013 at 2:12 PM ^
I loved that team too, but in retrospect the trash talking and swagger just made them look like assholes. I like that this years team doesn't do that.

will be rocking the shorts from the 70's.......oh if only
