Yeesh. I see maybe a couple character-building losses in here somewhere:

No, that was a freebie.
Bring em on!
Although I would love if this team was as good at the beginning of the season as they are at the end.
I'm psyched for this game and this season. After watching Oregon dismantle Kansas and then hellish attempts at basketball that UNC made in the Elite 8, Final 4 and Champ. Game I was convinced Michigan missed a huge opportunity. Would've loved to see them take on UNC - I think they could've beaten them.
UNC is worst national champion in history (+ they should've been ineligible).
Tough game to play on the road.
I gotta go see that game, live about 90 minutes away, wife is a UNC alum. . .
So that's a tough game.

...not a whole lot of marquee games on that list.
This B10-ACC Challenge has been bullshit from a Michigan POV. We've never got any of their marquee teams to come to AA (Louisville, Duke, UNC, ND, Virginia) yet we've played a couple at their house. Michigan as you know has had some pretty damn good bball teams over the last 7 years and the best game this thing has produced is a top 10 ranked NC State sqaud in 2012 that faltered down the stretch and wasnt even ranked anymore. Syracuse at home when they were bad.
For all I care we can scrap the whole thing and play the PAC 12.
I only see two damn good teams (Final Four/Elite Eight).
The 2013 team followed up their Final Four berth with a game at Duke.
The 2014 team followed up their Elite Eight appearance with a home game against Syracuse which went to the Sweet 16 the previous season.
Also, our mediocre B1G/ACC challenge record indicates that maybe we were slotted against the right competition most years.
B1G Champs, yo!
Good team. Good chemistry. Still wouldn't put that team in the same category as the two following teams. I think this year's team beats them on a neutral court by 10+ points.
This interests me greatly.
Of course I just finished my Master's at UNC in May. I would have been a speck of Maize in a sea of Carolina Blue in that student section.
I'll root for UNC any other time and was ecstatic when they won the championship this year, but I will never not support Michigan.
That game might be the most painful extended revenue-sport moment in recent (well, 30 years or so) Michigan history. Many times more painful (IMO) than "Crable hitting Smith out of bounds" ...
that most of the posters think UM is one of the favorites to win the Big Ten.
UNC loses a boatload of talent: Jackson, Meeks, Hicks and Bradley. The Heels will still be good, but they have to replace a lot.
As a NC resident, I'm really happy to see Michigan playing in this state; however, I'd have been even happier if they were playing Wake Forest which is 10 minutes from my house.
Need more 5 stars to compete
winnable but tough. And sometimes you need a few losses to get experience
Huge. Great opportunity in prime time.
I'll be there if anyone wants to meet at Top of the Hill or something.
I'll be there also. Are you not planning on going to the game? I'm wondering what the ticket prices will be like.
I'll be at the game unless tickets are outrageous. Prices will be a litter higher because UM is a name brand (as opposed to a punching bag) but they'll be available at a mid to upper price range. I don't think we'll be ranked, so I should be able to swing it.
So I'm purely guessing that upper level seats will start at $75. You won't find anything in the lower level for under $250 for this game. Again, just a hunch. The far end of the spectrum is the Duke game where you need to be a celebrity, a upper-tier Rams Club donor, a lucky student or willing to pay $500 for an upper-level seat near the banners.
I'm not sure how tickets work for medical students. I'm sure you have a better chance than I do of finding reasonable accomodations. My daughter is a second-year undergrad and student (free?) tickets are generally available through the lottery. Her and her roomate lucked out, got riser seats, waited in line and got front row twice during the conference schedule.
Interesting, I hope you're right about my chances to find a ticket because I would hate to miss this (crossing my fingers that school doesn't interfere). I would like to meet up with a fellow mgoblogger before the game though, at the very least.
Getting to the top of the hill sounds hard, how about we meet at the bottom instead?
I'll do a BLT at Merrit's. No problem.
Perfect. I start med school at UNC this fall.
You'll like Chapel Hill. Not that you'll be able to enjoy it.
I don't know man, I wouldn't just dismiss NC like that. They are a proud program and at home so I don't see us running them out of the building....
Matchups:
Northwestern at Georgia Tech
Duke at Indiana
Notre Dame at Michigan State
Miami at Minnesota
Penn State at NC State
Boston College at Nebraska
Michigan at North Carolina
Clemson at Ohio State
Louisville at Purdue
Florida State at Rutgers
Maryland at Syracuse
Wisconsin at Virginia
Iowa at Virginia Tech
Illinois at Wake Forest
Well, it definitely adds another tough game to the non-conference schedule, albeit one that might be winnable - but not at all easily - just based on what UNC lost this past season. Still, if it were mine to choose, this might not have been the first pick in the challenge for me.
Michigan has never hosted UNC or Duke in the challenge, which is disappointing. That would be an atmosphere unlike what we have seen with opponents like Virginia Tech and NC State.
