Assuming Harbaugh is renewed, should Warde Manuel be fired?
January 3rd, 2021 at 5:54 PM ^
The blog stuff was simply the final nail in Brandon’s coffin. Manuel doesn’t deserve to be fired right now. The other sports are doing well and there are going to be football changes. Ask again this time next year.
January 3rd, 2021 at 6:34 PM ^
Michigan football pays for most other sports. Botching that alone is sufficient reason to be terminated.
January 3rd, 2021 at 7:30 PM ^
K, but it’s not
January 4th, 2021 at 1:56 AM ^
MBB. We wouldn’t have Juwan. We wouldn’t have a number of great coaches.
January 3rd, 2021 at 5:55 PM ^
The Juwan hire was a bold homerun.
The Harbaugh situation is difficult.
Seems he's doing fine to me.
January 3rd, 2021 at 6:23 PM ^
I remember when people declared Hoke a “bold, homerun hire” based on his recruiting. Good times.
In any event, Howard’s hire was the complete opposite of “bold.” A good choice? Sure seems like it, though the jury is still out. A bold choice? Lol.
January 3rd, 2021 at 6:29 PM ^
Not me. I remember watching the press conference and thinking we were screwed.
January 3rd, 2021 at 6:30 PM ^
not really
January 3rd, 2021 at 6:31 PM ^
Give it up dipshit.. I remember being pissed off hoke got hired because of his career 50 percent win percentage..
He lived up to it
January 3rd, 2021 at 6:36 PM ^
So the entire blog narrative that Hoke “poops gold” didn’t exist? Funny how we suddenly have so many people who knew Hoke was a bad hire. Where were all you brilliant prognosticators when we needed you?!?
January 3rd, 2021 at 6:42 PM ^
Yes. The "poops gold" meme did exist, but it was more of a knock on Hoke than anything
January 3rd, 2021 at 8:11 PM ^
The "Hoke poops gold" thing, if it was even serious, was based on him going 11-2 and signing a strong recruiting class. It was not based on the immediate reaction to his hire, which was very negative.
January 3rd, 2021 at 6:38 PM ^
Are you senile? Not a single person outside of Dave Brandon thought hiring Hoke was a good idea, let alone a “bold, homerun hire”
January 3rd, 2021 at 6:42 PM ^
Go back and read the post of his hiring, then take a few minutes to yourself to accept what an idiot you are.
January 3rd, 2021 at 7:29 PM ^
After a post this stupid, is there any way we suspend OPs posting privileges for a few weeks?
January 3rd, 2021 at 7:31 PM ^
I’d support that.
January 3rd, 2021 at 8:37 PM ^
I hope you are a better person than how you make yourself sound on this blog.. if not, you will have a hard time in life.
January 3rd, 2021 at 5:57 PM ^
Dude.
January 3rd, 2021 at 5:57 PM ^
Keep the coach but fire the AD?
Hmmm... I'm not sure that's how it normally works.
January 3rd, 2021 at 5:57 PM ^
Stop it.
January 3rd, 2021 at 5:58 PM ^
You’d want to fire the guy that hired Juwan Howard and Mel Pearson? The coaches that created #1 recruiting classes in the country almost as soon as they stepped on campus?
January 3rd, 2021 at 6:11 PM ^
Doctor, did you get the conversation you were sought in your "Hey, Juwan" post?
January 3rd, 2021 at 6:29 PM ^
If he hired Ed Cooley, then we would’ve had a problem
January 3rd, 2021 at 7:02 PM ^
Hey, BlueVet. Yes, and I answered you a day or two ago in that post. Thanks for following up.
January 3rd, 2021 at 5:58 PM ^
No. Nice job with every sport minus football and he is trying to clean things up while navigating the Michigan maze from hell. There are a ton of stakeholders to manage. Seems like it should be easy from the outside but he has bosses too and he wants to keep his job.
Like fishbulb said, let’s see what is happening in a year.
January 3rd, 2021 at 5:58 PM ^
We renew/extend Harbaugh and then fire Manuel? That makes no logical sense in the real world but cool post.
January 3rd, 2021 at 5:58 PM ^
It’s hard to see how Manuel has really improved the athletic department
you want to try again sweetie?
January 3rd, 2021 at 6:39 PM ^
A condescending response with no actual point being made perfectly describes “Michigan Arrogance.”
January 3rd, 2021 at 6:56 PM ^
I’m laughing at how you think this makes you appear intelligent.
January 3rd, 2021 at 7:12 PM ^
I don't need to do much to look intelligent in this beauty of a thread you posted.
You obviously don't know shit about shit and the resulting shit post you blessed us all with is getting the negs it deserves. Suck it up and move on.
January 3rd, 2021 at 7:16 PM ^
The post lacks any real or implied definition of successful AD or any evaluation of Warde Manuel with that definition so most of us really can't comment on your position.
Some ADs suck because they blow the budget one year and others suffer the next. Some ADs are bad because they play politics but don't really support the coaches. Some ADs are well loved but no one can say why but for charisma.
Warde Manuel grades OK to well except please make a push to stop the screw job with refs and scheduling for the football team.
January 3rd, 2021 at 5:59 PM ^
You can’t fire someone for just doing their job properly. He’s been fine. Made sensible hires and probably has been making the department money. The harbaugh contract taking this long is annoying but besides that he hasn’t done too much else wrong
January 3rd, 2021 at 6:13 PM ^
To add to Mr. Squirrels' comment, simply the fact that WE are annoyed by not learning what we want to hear when we want to hear it has little to do with the job Manuel's doing.
January 3rd, 2021 at 8:04 PM ^
It’s probably a sign he is doing his job really well.
While fans provide the revenue, thank god we are not in charge of day-to-day operations.
January 3rd, 2021 at 6:00 PM ^
“Should I post a really stupid question that will generate almost zero constructive conversation”?
no
January 3rd, 2021 at 6:00 PM ^
Looking at the Athletic Department holistically, of course not.
Other schools are cutting programs, Michigan isn't.
Men's and Women's basketball and hockey are all looking great under his direction.
Warde is doing a great job, understand disappointment with football, but he definitely should keep his job.
January 3rd, 2021 at 6:15 PM ^
Baseball is also the best it's been in 50+ years, swim and dive are killing it (mens and womens). Our athletic department is doing very well. Harbaugh isn't Ryan Day but that might not be totally on him (and even if it is, I don't see what another AD is going to do that is unequivocally better at this point). I'm on board with Warde.
January 3rd, 2021 at 6:22 PM ^
Was WM the one who extended and paid Bakich?
January 3rd, 2021 at 6:28 PM ^
I never thought I’d see the day when Michigan fans acknowledge our most lucrative sport being botched while wanting to keep the AD because of success in baseball and women’s basketball. How far our pride has fallen. It’s honestly sad.
January 3rd, 2021 at 6:34 PM ^
Oh good so you avoided listing what juwans doing with the basketball team too so you could omit the 2nd biggest men's sport
January 3rd, 2021 at 6:45 PM ^
You’re right. Juwan’s record of conference championships and deep tourney runs should really be considered here.
Howard may be a great hire, but calling him a home run at this point is just laughably stupid.
January 3rd, 2021 at 8:03 PM ^
Yeah, not only has Juwan never won a B1G championship, he hasn't won a single game in the NCAA tournament! As matter of fact, he hasn't won a single postseason game ever!
UNACCEPTABLE!
January 4th, 2021 at 12:55 PM ^
You're making a ridiculous argument and deep down you know it -- but you just refuse to admit it because you're backed into a corner.

Rob are you really Robert Smith from The Cure? Hot, Hot, Hot was one of his songs.
January 3rd, 2021 at 6:31 PM ^
Labeling something a “hawt take” has become the de facto lazy rebuttal of people intellectually incapable of responding with an actual argument.
