Anyone else hoping ND makes the playoff so we can clobber them?

ND is on the fringe of the playoff bubble, and honestly shouldn't have any path in since even a one loss Cincy would have that head to head win over them, but there is no one I'd love to see more a potential playoff game than them.

It'd be a great way to rekindle a rivalry with so much on the line, but also, we'd be the toughest then they've played by far, so I'd like our chances.

Almost 0% chance of this happening, but a guy can wish, can't he?

If Michigan and Georgia win, gotta believe Bama is out. Third team in is Cincy, assuming they win. 4th team would be a one-loss ND or a one-loss Big 12 winner. In that case it would be criminal to deny the Big 12 for a Notre Dame that is too big a pussy to play a conference schedule and too greedy to remain "independent" with their own TV contract. Fuck Notre Dame under any scenario.

If we take care of that urgent business, then I want Cincinnati.

Everybody knows they are not one of the 4 best teams in college football.  But in the spirit of "fairness" and orange slices and participation trophies for the G5, they are going to get in if they go undefeated, no matter what,

If that happens, I want it to work to our advantage.

No!!! ND has to play a tougher schedule like the Power 5 teams. There should be no excuses for playing "Traditional" opponents. I mean, they play some ACC teams, but, they don't want to play Clemson. Then they aren't part of the ACC championship game.

If every team had those benefits, then college football would be in even more chaos. I know this argument has been going on for awhile, but it has to change. The sooner the better.

Right now, they are sitting on the sidelines waiting for teams to lose so they can snake into the playoffs. Why do all playoff teams need to play 13 games and risk losing, while ND laughs on the sideline waiting after playing 12 games?

They get a full 4 weeks to practice and heal, while others get 3 weeks to heal and practice.

They have their own home tv network that they don't share profits, but everyone else has to share in their league profits. Then they come in for playoff profits.

No.

They are hot right now

They have a good coach

Don't want them getting any of the extended publicity or hype of making the playoff. Helps their recruiting, hurts ours.

Stop.

Anything can happen on any given day.

We just smashed the #2 team in the nation after everyone and their mom predicted we'd lose by 20.

MSU lost by 50 in the first half to OSU, but conned their way in to a fluke a win against UM.

Would much rather roll the dice against a team we don't directly recruit against in the same region.

We're not 2020 Bama or 2019 LSU where we are guaranteed to curb stomp anyone.

Let’s not put the cart before the horse, but yes, that would be awesome. I don’t know how they would jump Cincinnati, but a UM/ND semi would most likely have the highest rating of any semi to date.

Two simple rules:

1. A team not facing the rigors of a conference schedule shouldn't even be eligible to qualify.

2. Notre Dame should never be allowed in a conference.

No, they just flat out don't deserve it. Their resume is worse than 10 teams regardless of what transpires next week when they don't play in a conference championship game.

I would like to beat the Hawkeyes by 30 points.

I would like the easiest matchup we can get in the CFP if we do win.

It would be hella good to make the CFP final, no matter what.

But for now, I am only thinking of our game with Iowa.

No, TWICE, the Notre Dame public relationship machine has spun a fantasy that the CFP committee bought and later deeply regretted as they were clearly not in the top 4.

This year they beat up the usual tomato cans and their 'good teams' were notoriously historically bad.

There is so much football on TV today, that notion of Notre Dame is some always a unique team has long died and the myth should be interred with it.

No, because they don’t deserve it. They don’t play anyone, they have this cheap ass agreement where they play a few weak ass ACC teams and then they don’t even play in a conference championship game. I’m truly glad we don’t play them anymore. They put no effort into being aligned to anything or anyone but themselves and college football slobbers and falls all over them. Fuck them!

No.  Rewarding the Irish with the prestige of a playoff appearance rewards them for dodging the risk that comes with playing a conference championship game.  Screw that; by that standard we should be in the playoff now, instead we’ll lay that on the line next week to play Iowa for the B1G.

Notre Dame on the outside looking in for the playoff weakens them as a program.  Weak ND helps Michigan.

To hell with Notre Dame.

I think rewarding ND when their best win is against a currently unranked Wisconsin team, and that's by far their best win, is bad.

If they don't want to be in a conference fine, but then they need to be judged heavily on their strength of schedule, and they didn't play much of a schedule.

Not really. Only because I'm not thinking ahead. I want to enjoy the days leading up to the Big Ten Championship, breathe it all in, enjoy the game, and come Sunday let the chips fall where they may.
