Anyone else hoping ND makes the playoff so we can clobber them?
ND is on the fringe of the playoff bubble, and honestly shouldn't have any path in since even a one loss Cincy would have that head to head win over them, but there is no one I'd love to see more a potential playoff game than them.
It'd be a great way to rekindle a rivalry with so much on the line, but also, we'd be the toughest then they've played by far, so I'd like our chances.
Almost 0% chance of this happening, but a guy can wish, can't he?

F Notre Dame
November 28th, 2021 at 5:15 PM ^
If ND was to get in they would play Georgia and MichigAn vs Cincinnati
November 28th, 2021 at 8:13 PM ^
Houston is pretty good, if we beat Iowa it is possible Cincinnati doesn't make it and we are stuck with a scarier Oklahoma State team.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:15 PM ^
No—we recruit too many of the same players as ND, and I don't want Kelly to be able to brag about another playoff appearance.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:18 PM ^
Agreed. Cincy in the 2-3 matchup, go for broke against UGA/Bama in the title game is the most ideal.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:45 PM ^
If Michigan and Georgia win, gotta believe Bama is out. Third team in is Cincy, assuming they win. 4th team would be a one-loss ND or a one-loss Big 12 winner. In that case it would be criminal to deny the Big 12 for a Notre Dame that is too big a pussy to play a conference schedule and too greedy to remain "independent" with their own TV contract. Fuck Notre Dame under any scenario.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:26 PM ^
I'd LOVE to kick their ass, and at the same time show recruits who the better team is!
November 28th, 2021 at 5:16 PM ^
I'd rather they fade into obscurity.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:17 PM ^
No - let them have another season with no major result.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:18 PM ^
No. They want in, they should be in a conference so they can be playing in a championship game instead of sitting back getting a "free" pass.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:19 PM ^
All I am wishing for right now is a win over Iowa, and then the CFP can unfold however.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:21 PM ^
No. ND can go to hell....
November 28th, 2021 at 5:22 PM ^
Beat Iowa.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:26 PM ^
If we take care of that urgent business, then I want Cincinnati.
Everybody knows they are not one of the 4 best teams in college football. But in the spirit of "fairness" and orange slices and participation trophies for the G5, they are going to get in if they go undefeated, no matter what,
If that happens, I want it to work to our advantage.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:31 PM ^
I'd also love a shot at Cincy, just for the pleasure of stuffing another school from Ohio.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:33 PM ^
Loyola Chicago Part 2
Michigan needs to play an overmatched underdog with wide eyes in order to play in the national championship game?? Sign me up
November 28th, 2021 at 6:59 PM ^
That would be enjoyable. Now that Michigan has dominated an Ohio state university we could then dominate the best college football team in Ohio and claim the Ohio state championship!
November 28th, 2021 at 5:25 PM ^
To clobber the f*ck out of them in a playoff game would be a delirious pleasure.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:26 PM ^
No. I want ND to be irrelevant.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:28 PM ^
to hell with notre dame
November 28th, 2021 at 5:30 PM ^
Beat Iowa. Win the game. That is what counts most.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:30 PM ^
No!!! ND has to play a tougher schedule like the Power 5 teams. There should be no excuses for playing "Traditional" opponents. I mean, they play some ACC teams, but, they don't want to play Clemson. Then they aren't part of the ACC championship game.
If every team had those benefits, then college football would be in even more chaos. I know this argument has been going on for awhile, but it has to change. The sooner the better.
Right now, they are sitting on the sidelines waiting for teams to lose so they can snake into the playoffs. Why do all playoff teams need to play 13 games and risk losing, while ND laughs on the sideline waiting after playing 12 games?
They get a full 4 weeks to practice and heal, while others get 3 weeks to heal and practice.
They have their own home tv network that they don't share profits, but everyone else has to share in their league profits. Then they come in for playoff profits.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:30 PM ^
No. I dont want to give them any legitimacy. Keep them out of the playoffs.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:32 PM ^
No.
They are hot right now
They have a good coach
Don't want them getting any of the extended publicity or hype of making the playoff. Helps their recruiting, hurts ours.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:36 PM ^
I don't want them to get in for bragging purposes, but we would curbstomp them if we met. Remember what sophomore Haskins did to them in the rain in 2019. Now think about what senior Haskins would do during the best stretch of games in his life right now
November 28th, 2021 at 6:10 PM ^
Stop.
Anything can happen on any given day.
We just smashed the #2 team in the nation after everyone and their mom predicted we'd lose by 20.
MSU lost by 50 in the first half to OSU, but conned their way in to a fluke a win against UM.
Would much rather roll the dice against a team we don't directly recruit against in the same region.
We're not 2020 Bama or 2019 LSU where we are guaranteed to curb stomp anyone.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:34 PM ^
Let’s not put the cart before the horse, but yes, that would be awesome. I don’t know how they would jump Cincinnati, but a UM/ND semi would most likely have the highest rating of any semi to date.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:34 PM ^
Bama, Cincinnati and Oklahoma St. would all have to lose.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:37 PM ^
There is a strong chance that can happen.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:41 PM ^
Who is 4 in that scenario? A Pac 12 Champion Oregon, A Big 12 Champion Baylor or more likely an undeserving 2 loss Bama
November 28th, 2021 at 6:38 PM ^
If they get to the point of considering two loss teams, OSU would be in the mix.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:35 PM ^
Two simple rules:
1. A team not facing the rigors of a conference schedule shouldn't even be eligible to qualify.
2. Notre Dame should never be allowed in a conference.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:38 PM ^
FUCK Notre shame now and forever FUCK them
November 28th, 2021 at 5:40 PM ^
No. To hell with Notre Dame. I hope they get nothing and like it.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:41 PM ^
Only when ND joins a conference and stops being an independent.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:41 PM ^
No. Not at all
November 28th, 2021 at 5:46 PM ^
I'm more hoping Alabama doesn't, and if that means Notre Dame then fine.
November 28th, 2021 at 8:31 PM ^
I just want to see one with no OSU, Clemson, Bama and OU. It could easily happen and most of the country is rooting for it.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:49 PM ^
No, they just flat out don't deserve it. Their resume is worse than 10 teams regardless of what transpires next week when they don't play in a conference championship game.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:50 PM ^
Nope. Join a fucking conference or fuck off.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:52 PM ^
I would like to beat the Hawkeyes by 30 points.
I would like the easiest matchup we can get in the CFP if we do win.
It would be hella good to make the CFP final, no matter what.
But for now, I am only thinking of our game with Iowa.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:53 PM ^
No, TWICE, the Notre Dame public relationship machine has spun a fantasy that the CFP committee bought and later deeply regretted as they were clearly not in the top 4.
This year they beat up the usual tomato cans and their 'good teams' were notoriously historically bad.
There is so much football on TV today, that notion of Notre Dame is some always a unique team has long died and the myth should be interred with it.
November 28th, 2021 at 6:01 PM ^
No, because they don’t deserve it. They don’t play anyone, they have this cheap ass agreement where they play a few weak ass ACC teams and then they don’t even play in a conference championship game. I’m truly glad we don’t play them anymore. They put no effort into being aligned to anything or anyone but themselves and college football slobbers and falls all over them. Fuck them!
November 28th, 2021 at 6:05 PM ^
No. Rewarding the Irish with the prestige of a playoff appearance rewards them for dodging the risk that comes with playing a conference championship game. Screw that; by that standard we should be in the playoff now, instead we’ll lay that on the line next week to play Iowa for the B1G.
Notre Dame on the outside looking in for the playoff weakens them as a program. Weak ND helps Michigan.
To hell with Notre Dame.
November 28th, 2021 at 6:53 PM ^
Yep, if we had played there schedule this year we would be undefeated and a lock
November 28th, 2021 at 6:06 PM ^
I think rewarding ND when their best win is against a currently unranked Wisconsin team, and that's by far their best win, is bad.
If they don't want to be in a conference fine, but then they need to be judged heavily on their strength of schedule, and they didn't play much of a schedule.
November 28th, 2021 at 10:07 PM ^
As long as the CFP is 4 teams, ND will struggle to recognized as one of the anointed elite over teams in conferences. That issue will mitigated a bit should the playoffs expand
November 28th, 2021 at 6:08 PM ^
The next game is Saturday. Go, Blue. Beat Iowa.
November 28th, 2021 at 6:08 PM ^
Not really. Only because I'm not thinking ahead. I want to enjoy the days leading up to the Big Ten Championship, breathe it all in, enjoy the game, and come Sunday let the chips fall where they may.
