Well, that's the crappy refereeing I've come to expect from CFB.
September 21st, 2013 at 5:10 PM ^
Let's face it, most announcers are dullard masters of the bleeding obvious. But the announcing is as torpid as the play-making today.

Well, ND Nation is getting what it wanted. That message board has been calling for a run-heavy ND gameplan forever. I'm curious to see how they react.

ND fight song.
September 21st, 2013 at 5:18 PM ^
OK, so now that ND is in a position where they actually should run the ball (1st and goal at the 2), they pass? Brian Kelly, man...
September 21st, 2013 at 5:20 PM ^
No timeouts, had to throw for it.
September 21st, 2013 at 5:22 PM ^
Whoops, you're right. (I'm watching without any sound - I forgot about the TO situation.)
September 21st, 2013 at 5:18 PM ^
There was a moment there were I honestly believe that Rees might just start a little game of catch with himself and the MSU band, but he actually finds someone semi-open and connects for the TD. If nothing else, the Irish will take the lead into the locker room in an otherwise ugly game.

can do that - they have the reach/height.

I resent that.
September 21st, 2013 at 5:25 PM ^
is whoever they played really, really that bad?
September 21st, 2013 at 5:38 PM ^
both. Certainly I don't think anybody could argue that Ohio has played anybody decent yet, since Cal is still terrible. Their offense looks very tough to stop, but their defense seems to be vunerable to the big play at times.
I think it goes without saying that UM will have to improve between now and the end of the season, in order to knock them off.
September 21st, 2013 at 5:28 PM ^
OSU's offense looks unstoppable, but their D is not as good as today suggested
September 21st, 2013 at 5:40 PM ^
Maybe that offense really is as good as it's looked so far, but I'll wait to see how they look once the competition stiffens before I deem them to be unstoppable. Wisconsin will be no pushover next week, especially with Melvin Gordon looking as good as he has. And if Northwestern plays up to its potential, that game will come down to the wire and could go either way.

MSU's defensive backs do committ borderline PI most of the time, so that doesn't seem like a bad idea.

of Rees. Not sharp today...still hoping ND wins though (I have to take a shower aftr saying that)
September 21st, 2013 at 5:36 PM ^
I think he's a little antsy because of MSU's pass rush. Our front four needs to step it up to do likewise (and/or Jake Ryan needs to get back soon).
September 21st, 2013 at 6:05 PM ^
Pat Narduzzi gets the most out of his Defense...everyone knows their role and they play sound.
September 21st, 2013 at 5:32 PM ^
The stat of the half might be the fact that MSU managed only 90 yards of offense in the first half of this game. They ran 31 plays, so that comes out to a cool 2.9 yards per snap, which is less than last week but more or less in line with their overall average thus far, as I recall.
September 21st, 2013 at 5:42 PM ^
If they paired a decent offense with their D and they'd be a BCS-bowl contending team.
Pair an average defense with their offense and they'd be looking at a 3ish win season
September 21st, 2013 at 5:46 PM ^
And yet they are in the game. MSU is going to play every game clsoe this year with that defense.....and that offense. Kings is a good WR but can they get him the ball enough? They will be playing a lot of games that finish within 3-5 points, no matter the opposition.

RB running into the QB. Just like they drew it up at half time.

Connor Cook kinda reminds me of Jay Cutler in that he's better throwing on the run being chased by D-Linemen and hitting his checkdown than staying in the pocket and making throws.
