Remember when we were arguing with Rutgers bloggers about which athletic director was worse?

|5 weeks 11 hours ago||Seriously doubt that that would happen.||
For one thing, they know that if they did that, they'd have to start raffling off you-must-be-present-to-win trips to Vegas to fill the stadium, and more importantly, the fat cat donors wouldn't allow it. At least, that's what I'm telling myself.
|5 weeks 13 hours ago||No, but||
the entertainment comes from watching well-executed plays by talented players that you have some connection to, and therefore some reason to care about they way they perform, and the outcome of the game. Being a grad, I've had that connection for decades, but the last two seasons, with a few exceptions, M football has been painful to watch because there were far too few well-executed plays. (Just ask Hoke!) I saw only part of the game yesterday, and stopped watching when it became painfully clear that the dropped passes and inability to score TDs in the red zone were the mean, not an aberration that would be eclipsed by superior play. I thought to myself that even if M doesn't win, at least I could watch some good plays by all of the talent we've recruited. Far too little of that to make watching entertaining. Contrast that with MBB - they had a difficult first half against UD (they have a very young team, you know), but came back in the second half - you knew they would. Now, that's fun to watch.

... and very seasonal.
|5 weeks 14 hours ago||I keep hearing about keeping Manning, but||
if we can get a "name" head coach (e.g., J. Harbaugh), I don't think we'll need a holdover with supposed recruiting chops. The chance to play for - and be coached by or under - such a coach should be a player magnet. Better to get rid of everyone to remove the taint of the present regime. "Continuity"? Why on earth would you want continuity from what we have now?
|12 weeks 6 days ago||No, it won't.||
What will get "their" attention is if fat cat contributors start holding out on the rivers of alumni contributions coming into UM. That, and maybe a few sub 100k attendance home games.Regrettably, it all comes down to money.

I have just received an email from a relative who never emailed me before, who felt compelled to include a .jpg of an article by a Columbus sportswriter claiming that Michigan really was never any good. So I guess I you could say the Utah loss is bringing my family closer together.
The Utah loss hurts because it means that the rest of the season is likely going to suck, and that we will go into every game wondering if we possibly can win, no matter how bad the opponent is.
It also means that whatever concatenation of infirmities afflicted the team last season still exists in some form.
|14 weeks 1 day ago||If Hoke love Michigan as much as he claims he does||
He should resign. It's in the best interest of the team.
|18 weeks 6 days ago||Can anyone on this thread||
Imagine that Hoke would do anything else? Especially after the video was released. York probably will get convicted, but may be able to plead down to a misdemeanor assault or some such if it's his first offense. Either way, I can't see Hoke having someone with an assault record on the team. And yes, I hope York turns it around.

I have it on VERY good authority (parent of fellow player on team) that Shaun's decommitment decision might well have been mutual. Not a secret in Cleveland (it was in Cleveland papers) that he was suspended temporarily from the team, as well as from the school. I know and won't say in this forum, but it was for something a lot worse than a late book report. Also, very frustrating to his teammates because he got called for taunting several times (@ 15 yards per) during games. Would not have lasted at UM long enough to contribute, IMO. I wish him well, and hope he cleans up his act.

Is also the definition of what it means to be a sports fan. It also could apply to anyone who uses computers, where in my experience one actually does get different results by doing the same thing over and over.
Also, try not to focus too much on standings, and more on the beauty of a well-executed play, or a player who is "on fire" for a game o a few plays, or a player who I has reached the next level of ability. Works for me.

with the inordinate number of ACL injuries, download a sports app that lists injured players for each team and compare UM to other B1G teams. Michigan has - Darboh, Johnson, Pipkins, Burzynski, Bellomy (who doesn't even get listed), and Ryan (who's back) - for a total of 6.
The other B1G teams (I am listing when the app states "knee" as the cause of injury), according to the sports app::
MSU has - Jones
OSU has - none
NW has - Jones
Iowa - None
Nebraska - Williams, Long
Iowa - None
PSU - Lehman
IND - None
This is not random distribution, IMO. UM shold have 2, or 3 tops to be in the pack. Can this imbalance really be attributed to bad luck, player phenotypes, or the field surface? I don't think so. Someone would have to look at the program from top to bottom to find out.

Staying at the MGM Grand. I had money on that game. Never thought they'd pull it out.

We're not exactly in elite company.
|1 year 13 weeks ago||You don't have to go back that far.||
Last season we played three teams that went undefeated for the season - and two played for the MNC. That doesn't take away the angst we are feeling heading into the conference part of the schedule. Also, we actually looked good against our first two opponents, which makes the seeming collapse all the more painful. I have tickets to the Minnie game. I wasn't expecting a nailbiter, but I am now.
|1 year 13 weeks ago||So if the box was stacked,||
That would mean single coverage for one or more receivers, right? But Gardner's passing stats were bad, and time after time he would run around the backfield looking for an open receiver, I presume. So can't Gardner look off receivers, or was U Conn's secondary that good?
|1 year 14 weeks ago||Devin looked rattled after the first TO||
We probably had more rushing yards than passing yards tonight. Was it because Devin got no protection or because the receivers were all covered, or because Devin was reluctant to throw?
