So were gonna play the revisionist history game? Shea started off the year poorly. What did he have 6 fumbles in 5 games or something to go along with some INTs? Vast majority of games he didn't even have a 60% completion percentage. Our offense looked like shit most of the year largely due to his poor passing

Shea played 2 great games vs MSU and Indiana. 3 if you count Rutgers which everyone plays good against them.

He was a solid QB but lets not start acting like he was good this season

Shea had one of the best seasons as a QB since Henne last year.

This year, it looked like he suffered from transition costs with the new offense, but he played his ass off from the second half of PSU and on.  He'll end up with better overall numbers than last season.

Sure he had some bad games, but he's definitely our best QB since Denard.

Complete bullshit, Shea was excellent this season. He had a few fumbles but relatively few INTs, did a great job with leadership, and had some stellar games.

Anyone who has to keep banging that same repetitive drum against Shea is just a hater for no reason at all.

Shea is a good QB but is a turnover machine.  His poor play lead directly to 2 of the 3 losses and the narrow win over Army.  He is not a big game QB and melted down vs. OSU 2 years in a row in the 2nd half.

Your comment makes me wonder if you know what you are talking about.

I totally understand and commend the fact that they want to spread the love so I’m not criticizing, but I get a kick out of Shea being MVP, Nico being offensive player of the year and Ronnie being offensive skill player of the year.  All three deserve accolades but once you have an offensive skill player as MVP it feels like different sides of the same coin (yes a three sided coin).

Very happy for all three of these young men who played their asses off and seem like good people!!

I think you can separate OPY and MVP even if both are on offense.  OPY speaks to straight talent on the field, while I believe MVP involves more than just the numbers.  Leadership skills and the ability to elevate the players around you also play a factor, which is why MVP-type awards (like the Heisman) favor QBs IMO.

Shea Patterson in just 2 years at Michigan

#8 in passing yards (between Harbaugh and Brady)
#6 in touchdowns (tied with Gardner)
#8 in completions (between Harbaugh and Robinson)

Leader in passing efficiency.  Lowest # of interceptions.  #2 in yards per game.

And, still one game -- one awesome game! -- to go. :)

DPOY - Josh Uche. I can understand that.

What I can't fathom, that's the same Josh Uche that the coaches could only get on the field for 20 snaps against osu. ?‍♂️

Way to utilize your best players. ?

There were some very high, highs, and low, lows for Shea and his two year run. If...and holly hell I'm not counting on it...but if they can beat Alabama that would be a really nice send off and people would see him, overall, in a more positive light.

I don't think people view him terribly negative, but you can't deny when you bring him up most Michigan fans think of the negatives as much or more as the positives and overall I get it. No championships, no titles, no beating osu...and to top it off some blowouts in big games.

A win over Bama would be really cool for the young man and this entire team...especially the seniors.

I was critical of him earlier in the year because he missed a lot of looks, couldn't decipher a zone, and never kept when the read said to do so.  He also rarely hit anyone in stride.  However, the last several games, his passing just kept getting better - he hit guys in stride downfield, he uncorked quick rhythm throws, he ate zones alive.  Still missed a fair amount of run reads, but the offense has transformed into something capable of scoring boatloads all game long.  If that renaissance had started two games earlier, had some more time to marinate and mature, I think the OSU outcome would have been very different.  Maybe (probably) not a win, but more points for UM means, necessarily, less for OSU.

Overall, he deserved the MVP this year, and congrats to him.  I hope the 15 practices before the bowl game further matures the offense into a unit that can consistently score against a defense like Bama's.  If you can't put up 35 (or 40+?) against good defenses in today's CFB, you have zero chance to win.

I recently looked at the PFF rankings for this year's All B1G players. Ambry Thomas, Dax Hill, Metellus and Hawkins all were mentioned. Hill wasn't. https://www.pff.com/news/college-football-2019-pff-all-big-ten-team

Now you've got me thinking about what a frustrating year this was. The coaching was deficient. Remember Brian lamenting that Nico had just one more target than Chabonnet ("and that's with DPJ injured")? Imagine being promised #SpeedinSpace and then getting 3 yards and (almost literally) a cloud of dust against Army. After the Illinois game it felt like they were finally where they should have been after game 2. Senior players like Hill, Hudson and Metellus made rookie errors throughout the season. A lot was expected from Hill this year. He didn't meet those expectations.

Fuck the haters who never in their lives accomplished anything in athletics in their entire lives, who overpopulate this board. Michigan’s - OUR - young men won a lot of football games, worked their asses off, and deserve all the recognition we can give them.

No one gave up. They played hard against good competition. They dropped a few games; so fucking what. All of the perfectionists, what titles have you won? Are you, hiding behind screen names, in the top 100 of whatever your occupation is, let alone the top ten or twenty?

It’s easy to demand perfection from other people. Bunch of flaming assholes.

Sad.  The first few rows are the players and parents.

Each team deserves recognition from more fans than have made the Schemmies.

Even the 3-9 Rich Rod team had over 750 at Laurel Manor.

Hoping we get back there for the 100th Bust in 2020.
