The 1-11-1 Lions are Beating the 10-3 Cardinals?

Detroit just picked off a pass in with 8 minutes left in the 3rd quarter and scored....again. It's now 24-3 over Arizona who only has to win one game to guarantee themselves the playoffs. Meanwhile our Lions, whose only thing of value left this year is to make sure to get the first pick in the draft, can't even lose correctly. Box score says we have almost a 2-to-1 advantage in yards and first downs. We are going to end blowing this sure loss and losing that #1 draft choice to the now Urban-less Jags.
At least we can root for the Browns, the Lions equivalent in Cleveland. Mgrowold will be happy.
The Lions can't lose for winning. Unbelievable.

Lions need a player like Hutch too. Besides his physical skills he's everything else you'd want. He would fit with Dan Campbell so good but Lions will win a couple down the stretch and end up missing on him. He's Jacksonville bound....

And if it’s the Texans I think they reach for a QB, which they badly need. In the last 20 years, 4 DEs have been taken first overall and the Texans have taken two of them and neither worked out incredibly well.

As an outsider to those four teams, I can tell you that the Lions are the best of those four in term of organizations, they actually play hard and are better than their record. They just need a QB in the second round to groom if the go with Aidan in the first round, though not it's not like Lawrence and Wilson are tearing up the league as they were expected to.

I mean… if any of the best franchises were in position to obtain the #1 pick, they would certainly try to lose to get it… because it’s the smart thing to do when you have 1 win with four games remaining.
Alas, the Lions are far from being one of the best franchises to they decide winning a game and potentially ruining draft position in a rebuild is the way to go.

Lions have to play at Atlanta, and then at Seattle, both probable losses. Then they host the Packers last, so going 2-14-1 is a very real possibility.
Jags are 2-12, with the only winnable game at the Jets next week. If they don't win that one, they are going to be 2-15. So it does look like the Lions will be number 2 pick. Let's hope the Jags like someone more than Hutch.

The Loins got lucky that the Jags played Houston and their weekly loss forced Houston's win total up by one, otherwise we'd be sitting #3 already. I think another win is likely, perhaps 2 if the Packers have home field sewn up. I could see the first round pick being as low as 6th.

What makes you think that Hutchinson wouldn't be happy playing for the hometown team for a coach like Dan Campbell? I don't want to put words in his mouth but it seems like a situation he would love, and a great opportunity to have a huge impact bringing a team up from the basement of the league.

Win a game against a team you have no right beating on sunday night, monday night, thursday night, thanksgiving etc.
Go .500 the last 4 games (or so) to kill a high pick.

To your point they have @ATL, @SEA, and home against GB for their last 3. I could see them winning 2 of 3 (ATL and SEA) and finish 4-12-1 and wind up with the 4th or 5th pick.
id prefer they lose and be able to draft Hutch. Not only is he an impact player on the field. His leadership is something special.
