We are starting to get so far ahead of the recruiting game!!! Sparty might not even know who the kid is. Any truth to the rumor that he was looking to transfer to a certain DPS school??

You have to be a beast to get BCS offers as a Soph.

Lots of recruits weren't on varsity or were not getting nearly enough time to be recruited as Sophomores- dude must be good

well the school he is presently attending is not really known as a football powerhouse so with his size its not crazy to see a kid in that position getting snaps . . . although he still looks pretty good!!!

Yeah a small school would help him get some time- but just think about how crazy it is to have a BCS football body as far as maturity when you are a sophomore.  What is he 15 or 16- and he is already showing that he can be a big time player- I don't care how small your school is that's crazy.

You see it in basketball too- some of these guys are just men among boys in high school- it's just crazy that seems to be the case for him already as a Sophomore.

relevant so many years ago?  The arrogance of their recruiting was that they do not recruit, they interview.  It almost appears that we are getting that way.

These coaches have a crazy work ethic and are way ahead of the curve when it comes to recruiting. An Ohio offer should soon follow.

Didn't one of the recruiting gurus (Scout?) reference him as a "younger, faster Adolphus Washington?" And I believe one of Sparty's scouts called him a cross between Tony Gholston and Lawrence Thomas?

It's possible that Malik McDowell might outgrow the DE position and have to become an OT, but I definitely think he's a 5* talent if he remains the same size.

Hey Oxford - you're made a lot of jerky comments lately, and then you've bitched about people downvoting you.  This comment is a good example.

It seems to me that by asking that question, you're not really being inquisitive, but rather implying that the poster above you made a stupid suggestion by saying a guy currently slotted at DE would grow into an OT.

This is not stupid, actually.  In high school, a lot of guys play both ways on the lines.  Also, it's beneficial for DEs and OTs to be tall, but not always the case with DTs.  Now, Wormley is 6'6" and so was RVB and Heininger, so it's not prohibitive.  However, if I have a DE who is 6'7" 280 in high school, and ends up 300-310, I'd rather move him to OT than DT.

EDIT:  That being said, and athletic 290 is about perfect at SDE (5-tech) in our defense.  And this kid could be that.

Time to start buckling up?  He was apparently wearing Michigan shorts at the big man camp and when asked about any schools he was interested in his only answer was Michigan.  Also, next Brandon Graham right here?

I thought he was originally mentioned as an OT.  We played Loyola in the 4way last year.  They may not be considered a powerhouse, but they have some BIG athletes on that squad.  They play in Division 7 or 8 and have yet to make it very far in the playoffs.

2014 seems like such a loooooooong way away.

Obviously he'd very dominant in that video, but do we know who any of those guys are he's going up against?  If that's the top 20 OLs in Michigan and he dominates 15 of them, that's not a big deal.

Either way, he's obviously big and athletic for a guy his age, and I want him.

What is incredibly impressive about this is how many times the O Linemen would cheat and jump early to try and stop them and he still would get past them.

He's very shifty on his first step or two and flat out embarrassed some of these guys when he would change direction after that and also uses his hands well.
