AC/DC on the Michigan Stadium screens?

Submitted by GoBlueScott on
There's been a lot of discussion this summer about what things might be changing at Michigan Stadium with R-Rod's desire to bring the fans more into the game.

Speculation ranges from added band participation to full blown RAWK music being pumped into the stadium, a la Wisconsin and Michigan State.

This, I fear.

Not sure if any of you follow Michigan Football on Facebook but yesterday they posted a video to "fire you up" before the start of the season. Set to the dulcet tones of AC/DC's "For Those About To Rock," the video showed clips from throughout Michigan's football history. (Sadly, there were not many from 2008.)

It's actually a great video and it DID fire me up even more -- seeing Desmond talk about "Should I do the pose? Should I not do it? ... F*** it" was interesting and the video, for what it was, was well done.

I am really just hoping this isn't the kind of thing they start blasting before or during games. Living in DC, I only made it up to one game last year and don't remember if this is something that is already happening, so if it is I apologize for my lack of awareness.

Thoughts?

It sounds like it is probably the same video that an MGoBlog user posted on here, therefore probably not going on the video screens. Is it just the Michigan Football group that posted it, cause that is student run.

My only concern with AC/DC is the fact that I have had to endure Hells Bells over and over at TUOOS every two years when Michigan comes to town. Its a painful place to go to a football game and that song has become a sore reminder. For the record they dont play the whole song, only the intro... I agree that something needs to be done to get things more stirred up in the crowd at Michigan Stadium...even when we are winning and looking great things tend to be on the subdued side and my seats are even next to the student section.

I am in a band that happens to play some pretty hype rock music IMHO, and I would love to see a UM video set to our stuff. Check it out on myspace.com/thrive07 -- I think that the song, "Metamorphosis" could be a good one because that's kinda what our whole program is going through right now. Whichever song you use is great, though. If you need a .wav file instead of the mp3, I can get it to you. This would pretty much be the coolest thing ever associated with our music, and I hope you have the time/willingness to make this wish come true. GO BLUE!!!

I dont have a problem with the music being played during the game as it seems to pump everyone up. I guess that is just my youth in me that likes it. But it cannot take over the the natural sounds of the stadium. So before games between quarters especially the 4th. That sounds cliche but it works. I love our schedule for this year and with the right blend of pumped in music and the natural sound of the fans and band it would become one of the toughest places to play again with the stadium reconstruction and the sound being trapped more in the stadium.

Solid video. I am not thrilled with the idea of pumping in non-marching-band-music during the games, but I wouldn't mind a video beforehand. They play a History video before Bulls games in the United Center set to a song from Remember the Titans that gets me riled up every time I see it.
