Is an alum at ECU. Not saying that it's impossible to persuade him to leave, but it's going to be harder than your average coach at a mid major. A large reason why he got the job is because ECU was convinced he'd be a lifer, and they gave him the time and patience through some shitty years as he built them to this point where they are whupping BCS schools.

He's a very plain spoken no-nonsense guy, and he's very southern. He's a defensive coach, but he's preferred spread it out no huddle air raid offense. So he's going to be way too close to Rich Rod to ever be considered. Hell, there's people out there refusing to hire a nice midwestern boy like Dan Mullen because his offense isn't backwards enough for them.

Let's face it Hoke is gone. There was never any evidence that he was a good coach and now we have ample evidence and he is not.

I liked what Utah was doing. Well prepared and out muscle and out smarted our 4-5 star players with 2-3 star players.  Imagine what he can do with our talent.

I saw 4 turnovers & a punt return TD.

-12 for season, I believe, so averaging -4 per game (+ a 60% missed FG rate, and -100 I bet in invisible yds).

That may all be on coach, but it's not outmuscled or outsmarted.

If it is on the coach, & we decide to ride Hoke out of town like last two coaches were, please remember: we could not get our first choice in either case to come here. Or our second. We got our third in both cases. No one wants this job any more.

No one knows who Brandon contacted before Hoke. Frankly, it seems like he did very little research and simply hired the one "Michigan Man" who was available. Miles will never be an option and Harbaugh was always going to the pros.

This is a top ten job. Many want it, but it takes a good AD to find that perfect fit. Brandon has failed miserably in doing that.

are Mich fans who think our job is a top 10 job anymore?  It isn't. That's not me being a cynical fan that's just straight up the facts as things stand in today's landscape. Mich is not a top coaching destination. There is a serious disconnect between what our fans think of our program and what the rest of college football thinks of us. Programs that are a better job opportunitity than us right now:

Ohio State, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Alabama, LSU, Auburn, USC, FSU, Georgia.

And that's without having to think too hard. And yes I do believe these programs are better coaching opportunities than Mich.  The first step to resurrecting the program is knowing where you stand and I believe that if the entire fanbase thinks we deserve the second coming of christ as our next coach, then nothing wiill change here.

Top coaching prospects don't want to come here after the way we treated RR. Who wants to deal with the "Michigan Man" crap and the machinations of the Michigan "Old Guard" that deifies Bo and Lloyd? Until the program shows some urgency to win a NC which overides the dysfunctional addiction to branding and tradition, we'll be stuck with mediocre coaches like Hoke.

If I don't go to work on Monday and do my job, I will get fired. Why is Hoke's job any different? The saddest part isnt that Utah just came into the fucking Big House and won for the 2nd time in a row (please, read that part again). The saddest part is that I expected it to happen. Goodbye Coach Hoke.

I'm advocating for Peppers to RB or slot. I think Canteen should be getting a lot of snaps, maybe Ways. At the very least M needs to find some way to make fans excited to watch the damn game. It's painful right now. Not just because they suck but because of how they suck. They don't do anything remotely exciting or stretch the field. I think whoever seems like they can break a run or high point a ball and catch it, (I"m looking at you Chesson) should be on the field. I need some hope on Saturdays. As of now, that offense is abysmal for the 2nd straight year.

When he's learning a new offense at the same time as the underclassman, and the offense seems deliberately to exclude the kinds of plays he's great at in favor of the stuff he's not so great at. If you're dead set on a passing 3WR-one back offense, there's no point in throwing Gardner out there when he clearly has issues processing informatin post snap quickly and going through progressions.

Either stick with Gardner and run the option stuff he's really really really good at, or play Shane Morris. Asking Devin to be AJ McCarron and then getting mad when he isn't does no good.

Hoke should be done at the end of the season. He's really proved to be dead weight on his own staff. I don't care whether or not he wears the headset, but I'm not sure anyone is entirely sure what he does during the game. I just hope everyone is respectful throughout all the impending frustration.

The players seem to be getting worse as time goes on. We have a true freshman starting at left tackle because his technique and ability haven't been destroyed by our terrible offensive line coach yet. This is a coaching staff meant for a lower tier of football, they are not capable of taking some of the most talented high school players to the next level.

I hope they do decide to play Morris (and even Bellomy, Speight can redshirt), because whether Hoke is here or not next season, those guys will definitely will be and it just seems like a good decision for the program going forward.

Where did our screen game go? Roll outs? Screens to Norfleet were moving the ball great @ ND. QB roll outs seem like a no brainer with our struggling offensive line and athletic quarterback. Either someone is meddling into Nussmeier's offensive game plan OR Alabama told him to hit the road and it only looked like we lured him away.

I'm really glad Mattison laid into Hoke on the sidelines. I can only imagine the conversation after that penalty for being on the field was something along the line of "at least I care and give a shit to be on the field". Mattison is giving every last bit of energy his has. Hoke's "it's Michigan" shtick is over. Results are not there and it's not fair to the players. It's clear we have so much talent.

Not clear to me there is any.  If there is, then Funk must be the worst position coach in CFB.  So why did we keep him?  Zero pass protection, DG knows it and now has happy feet.  Hell, even App St and Miami put pressure on him.

Hoke is obviously gone, there is zero chance of Brandon going.  Brandon gets his one and only chance to make a 'career' hire.  If he blows the next HC hire, then he'll be gone too.

This is so lame. There is talent. Even a less talented OL would perform better than this. OSU replaced almost all of its OL and I bet that OSU's OL with a first year QB is to going to play better than our offense and bit the crap out of us. It is entirely lack of coaching.

Our defense is pretty stacked with talent, especially at CB, LB, and DT. On offense, the main problem right now seems to be quarterback play. Gardner is not performing well but you can't say the guy doesn't have talent. Morris, I do think, appears to have been overrated. It would also help if we had more of a gamebreaker at RB; Green is doing okay, but with the difficulty we have finishing drives, we could really use a guy who can take it to the house from distance.

This end of the year thing need to stop. Fire him now. I like the guy, but he is not going to do it. Let have an interim and search for a coach. Wait for the Ravens to explode with the news of Harbaugh wanting Rice gone and the owner didn't. It will get ugly and if he is presented a good choice, he might take it. I don't know if he will be good in college, but he seems to be a good coach. You can't win a superbowl, if you are not a good coach. Offer him something that he can't refuse. We need excitement and a proven coach. If Hoke can get recruits, I am sure Harbaugh can. His pedigree speaks for itself. He would at least have kids who want to learn, as opposed to those entitled NFL players.

Publicly humiliate? Sorry. I don't see it that way. What if he loses 6 more games. How do you think that is going to go for him. When you separate from someone, there is no easy way to do it.

If anyone thinks that team is winning 6 Big Ten games then you are delusional. Michigan just got dominated by a PAC 12 team that will at best finish middle of the PAC and go to the Texas bowl or sum shit. This team is so far gone and yes I agree the. Big Ten is down but we will be Lucky to win 3 more games with that kinda effort. Sorry I love Michigan Football more than anything but something is wrong and if u think just because the conference is weak that we could easily win 6 games your in for a big surprise because we are part of the reason it's weak

The Big Ten is way down and M has more talent than almost every team on the schedule.  The way things look now, it probably won't happen--but it's not "crazy" to say that they could win six conference games.  The point, though, is that if the team did win six conference games under an interim coach, then in order to hire John Harbaugh (that was the hypothetical in response to which the statement was made--I am not expecting that to actually happen either) M would have to fire the interim coach who would be then have undoubtedly garnered some faction of support among fans, alumni, media, and probably recruits.

Messes are bad.  They should be avoided or minimized whenever possible.  Hoke may not be winning games, but he can at least finish out the year.  This is not a Bobby Williams or even Lane Kiffen type of situation.

Usually I would agree with Brian and say that firing the HC mid-season basically torpedoes your season and ruins recruiting. In the case of Hoke however, I'm not sure that necessarily torpedoes the season, as Hoke doesn't seem to do much during games in terms of strategy. Put Mattison as interim and see what happens. In terms of recruiting, if we're going to fire him anyway it simply delays the inevitable. Plus, this year's class is so small that any effect on recruiting will be that much smaller, particularly if we announce a blockbuster hire (I know everybody on here thinks that getting a Harbaugh is a pipe dream, but you gotta have faith).

Bottom line: this program has regressed under Hoke's leadership. Sure his players love him, but nobody cares unless you win, and at this point in his tenure, we should be able to condifently predict 9 wins.

John Harbaugh and his wife have most of their family in Michigan.  He would bring proven character (see the  Rice incident) and have no baggage.  He has a Super Bowl ring that will do more for recruiting than all the nice letters in the world.   This is his opportunity to come home and be a hero.

Offer him 28 mil. for five years, and I believe he will be our next coach.

Tried to rewatch the game I DVR'd yesterday after lunch, sober this time. About the end of the first quarter I had to make a decision. A) turn off the game and answer "yes" I would like to delete OR B) crack open a Shock Top and trudge through....... Gonna need more beer

And Notre Dame will lose 3 games minimum. What else do we have to see? It is like we are all giving him the benefit of the doubt because he only lost by 1 to OSU last year at home. Like that was some kind of moral victory. Like we had suffered some rash of injuries and we were some likable underdog. We all expected to lose that game to a 2 loss OSU squad and were pleasantly surprised when the game was entertaining. What does that say about our program? The fact that he doesn't know what play is called on either side of the ball every time is insane. Brady Hoke is a position coach. Period.
