Tavierre Dunlap Has Committed to Michigan
That happened quickly (and when none of us were around). Michigan has finally secured one of their two top running back targets. This one is a recent top-250 back to 24/7 and plays for a major Texas program.

Thunder acquired, lightning TBD. And I do mean thunder. Dunlap's highlight runs are all long touchdowns but sometimes there's a child or three in the way before they begin. A more informative update than "Hassan Haskins but fast" will be Monday.

This is shockingly disappointing, not the commit.....the post. I said in regards to the Kickstarter, I have a ton of respect for you Seth. But the coverage of recruiting has so fallen off at this site that it really has become a non entity for me compared to other sources. You used to be the only Michigan source for me, now you are a distant after thought.

Wow! Sorry the free content isn’t up to your standards. (Jk)
I for one didn’t even know anything about the kid until it was a message post yesterday. I count on this site for this type of news, and I’m glad it is here. Admittedly, I don’t follow every crystal ball or Gut” feeling.

Are you guys high, or just assholes? Really, honest question. Or are you just too caught up in the political and social arguments to actually pay attention to the football content? They just posted stuff on this and current recruiting Sept 10.

I posted about this kid weeks ago when he received several UM Crystal Balls. The post had many comments so this was not a surprise to those who follow recruiting.
Brian, Seth, et all doing a great job (as always) under difficult circumstances.
Thank you!

Did you see the Tyler Martin analysis? Very good.

Please take your disappointment elsewhere and stay there! Thank You!

Im sure you’ll get more when they put up the actual Hello post in a day or two. Sorry the free content isn’t enough for you though.

"A more informative update than "Hassan Haskins but fast" will be Monday."
That's how it always is. It's the weekend. Look forward to Monday.

That's how it always is. It's the weekend.
Weekends off??? Is this a bank or a sports blog ;) Just hire free interns like 11W to work the graveyard shifts!

Distant afterthought? I think your judgment and expectations are way off course. Where else can you get consistent, quality, and in-depth coverage from such a highly respected Michigan writing team? (Or any team for that matter). All for free btw.
Let's also remember that there is no big ten football and very little report-worthy news right now. High school football and recruiting in general is a shadow of its usual self. I guarantee you will get a high quality recruiting profile on Monday and it will be better than you can get anywhere else.
With the season shut down and having just finished HTTV, I personally am glad Brian, Seth, and Ace can downshift during this insane time and still provide excellent content while taking care of themselves and their families. I know I wouldn't want to write a UFR while having my entire family in the house 24/7. We should be grateful that we get to feast on the meager bones of football news and can be part of a Michigan community that holds a higher standard of respect for one another than the rest of the world out there. If you can't, we will all be glad to have you on another site.
Stay well and Go Blue!

Lol. This says a lot about the rest of the world!

Maybe read Seth's post before criticizing its brevity? Jeez.
September 13th, 2020 at 12:38 PM ^
dude, seth is gifted and he's not an indentured servant. his saturday nights and sundays might not actually revolve around 24/7 sports reporting. stuff will be up on monday. he posted the hudl tape here and that will give you some chills up your leg - watch the kid run over some poor safety trying to fill the hole at about the 1:12 mark. d'oh!
September 13th, 2020 at 1:02 PM ^
I’m tolerating having to read articles on this site for free, but pretty soon I’m going to expect a steady pay check to keep showing up and reading these analyses you force upon me!
A /s for anyone who needed it.
September 13th, 2020 at 3:04 PM ^
Glad to see the first post about someone committing is you complaining about his commitment post wherein you show you didn't actually read the post.
Anyway, welcome to the team Tavierre.
September 13th, 2020 at 3:11 PM ^
So, y’all really think the detailed 2,500 word Hello posts with the background and the scouting and the analysis that go up right after a commitment are written in the six minutes between the announcement and the post?
I’m reminded of the episode of the Simpsons where they have to tell Homer that they don’t air Itchy & Scratchy live, as it “places a terrible strain on the animators’ wrists.”

"Shockingly disappointing" is the perfect description of your whiny, self-entitled post.
September 13th, 2020 at 9:53 AM ^
Seth is carrying all the water for this site now. Ace is busy being outraged on twitter. I think Brian is busy being A dad with 2 young kids during COVID, which many of us can understand.
I wish they would hire an intern to cover recruiting. Many Michigan students would be head over heels for this writing opportunity.
September 13th, 2020 at 10:08 AM ^
Ace used to do a lot of the recruiting posts, but now he watches old games and does detailed write ups on them.
Agree about Seth, he seems to be the one that is trying to continue making a living off of this site.
September 13th, 2020 at 12:11 PM ^
I was going to post something similar.
It is disappointing to not have at least the “Player X has committed to Michigan” within an hour or two of it happening. We used to have a Full hello post in that timeframe — even if it was a surprise commit — (Ace should have gotten hazard pay during the great Hoke weekend of 8 commits.). Dunlap clearly wasn’t a surprise even if the timing was.
I realize that Brian and Seth have family and adult responsibilities that they didn’t “back in the day” and Ace - who used to be the grinder on this type of stuff - hasn’t been the same since the onset of his health issues.
Therefore the idea is to find a youngster or two (even if they are unpaid interns) and give them the shot to do some of this stuff. Heck Brian can even train them a bit in how to do UFRs and then force them to do the OSU and Bowl games most seasons.
I still love this place. I just want to find a way to keep the quality and timeliness up that doesn’t require you and/or Brian to go back to how you lived in your Twenties.
September 13th, 2020 at 1:56 PM ^
Also Ace has been moving for about the last 3 weeks. Think I saw that today or yesterday was the first day he wasn't moving, working, or both in nearly a month.
September 13th, 2020 at 9:59 AM ^
I hope he has the HEART to run ASKEW around the defensive line and Biakabutuka himself to the goal line...... OH!!!!!!!!
September 13th, 2020 at 10:14 AM ^
I initially didn't see the Haskins comparison. I rewatched 2019 ND game yesterday (watching everyone else play was depressing).
Haskins is the PERFECT comp.
Nothing like De'Veon Smith, which is what I thought he was before watching any film. But Haskins is spot on, upright but will lower the boom, more speed than you realize, stiff arm.
We HAVE to get Donovan Edwards though. His versatility would allow these two to play at the same time.
Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram 1-2 punch.
September 13th, 2020 at 10:22 AM ^
Size, speed, power, vision, good feet....this kid is a great get. Reminds me of Ricky Powers but faster—Fred Jackson.
September 13th, 2020 at 12:40 PM ^
more like a meteor, but without the gamma rays, destroying everything in it's path - fred jackson
September 13th, 2020 at 2:34 PM ^
He's like a combination of Barry Sanders and Jerome Bettis, but big and fast!
September 13th, 2020 at 10:30 AM ^
Impressive. 10 yds/ carry in Texas wow. Would not be shocked if he’s better than any back on the team. You can’t have too many rb though; Donovan come on down. Sharing the back field with another threat only extends your career.
September 13th, 2020 at 10:31 AM ^
Can’t wait to read Thunder’s take.
September 13th, 2020 at 10:41 AM ^
Does anyone know if it's pronounced "tuh Veer" or something more french sounding like Javier but with a T. Anyone?
September 13th, 2020 at 6:59 PM ^
It would be Tah v air. Not sure how to write phonetics in English, but I hope you get the idea.
September 13th, 2020 at 11:16 AM ^
recruiting and getting talent from Texas is always encouraging, because there is:
a) so much talent in TX, and
b) so many other top football programs that have (years, decades) established ties to schools & coaches in TX
September 13th, 2020 at 11:20 AM ^
Can we target some of his lineman too? The kid never gets hit...
September 13th, 2020 at 1:41 PM ^
Yeah, esp. the first part of the video, I was thinking that he needs to take his teammates out to whataburger for all their blocking... then he did plenty of heavy lifting on his own too.
September 15th, 2020 at 7:01 AM ^
I logged in specifically to say this exact thing. #67 (plays center mostly it looks like) looks great!
September 13th, 2020 at 2:38 PM ^
His Hudl tape is explosive. Less thunder more like shake and burst. Not a wiggle guy like Evans but definitely fast. Don’t see a recent comp in either Haskins or Higgins. Ricky Powers with more top-end speed is my historical comp.
September 14th, 2020 at 3:01 AM ^
Yeah, I don't see any Thunder really. He breaks an arm tackle here and there but he isn't running anybody over. And he isn't some huge guy at 190 something lbs.
This isn't a complaint about the pickup, just commentary on the scouting of him.
September 14th, 2020 at 11:14 AM ^
Not trying to be snarky, but Higgins who? Racking my brain and can't come up with a Michigan RB with a remotely close name.
September 13th, 2020 at 2:40 PM ^
I am liking his, helps one mentally recover from the decommit
September 14th, 2020 at 9:58 AM ^
Where did you decommit from?
September 13th, 2020 at 3:26 PM ^
Dude looks larger than 6'0" and 190 lbs.
September 13th, 2020 at 9:43 PM ^
Good news and nice get...but Donovan Edwards please!!!
September 14th, 2020 at 8:34 AM ^
Holy shit this kid is fricken FAST. Amazing speed at that size.
September 14th, 2020 at 1:31 PM ^
Nice pick-up, never have enough quality RB's... now Donovan Edwards, you're up next!!
