Evan Link Has Committed to Michigan
The first of post-BBQ pledges has dropped, and it's most welcome:

As the bio reads, this is a 6'6"/290 OT prospect with a 4.22 GPA and the exact graphic you want to see in a lineman's media preview:
He's currently a 4-star who broke into the top-300 of the composite earlier this summer and took visits to Penn State and Stanford before and after his official to Michigan in June.
His junior highlights show an athlete who likes getting out in space and has much quicker feet than his competition. Caveat: the competition is the Virginia side of DC high school-caliber. Still, this is what you want to see from a tackle prospect, and his quick rise up the rankings over this summer's camp season suggests the schools he visited liked the measurements. We'll get up a full hello this week.

Thanks to Evan for making a Monday morning feel like a Friday afternoon!

The gify you shared adds to the Friday afternoon spirit!

Congrats young man. You have just devoted every day of the rest of your life to mauling DE's from the most corrupt college football school not in a former Confederate state.

every day of the rest of your life
I would hope his life expectancy is a bit longer than 4-5 years.

This is great news. Welcome to UM. More dominoes to fall after BBQ. Looking forward to the week.

Soooooooooo ... We got at least one commit from the BBQ!?

Proof the menu wasn't a total bust, though we still have to work on that 'croots to beef ratio.
haha Love it. When dust settles, think we need a diary on commits per pound of burger meat and see how it has trended over the last couple years

We've found the missing LINK (SWIDT?) to all the OT-Commit/Comet/Kermit shenanigans!
Hey, at least I sourced my topic. The copycats didn’t include Evan one Link.

I was warned that the link I had to click on to see the photo had potentially "sensitive content." Then I see the young man holding a football. Is this sensitive content for future competition? Obviously Internet filters never lie...

Never heard his name before. Looks like a man child. Big boy. Welcome.

Pump it up!

She's got to!

This is a truly needed OT post.
But why did he not commit during the BBQ?
Clearly to get a rise out of some of our fans.
Welcome, Mr. Link.
Would prefer that he committed while in the act of chewing his BBQ. Do not want, seems like a diva for waiting this long to commit.
/s (just in case he reads the blog)
Ladies and gentlemen, he’s back!!
Nice , this is an unexpected surprise.
"Caveat: the competition is the Virginia side of DC high school-caliber."
Huh??
He plays at Gonzaga, which is in DC and plays in the same league as De Matha, Our Lady of Good Counsel and St. John's. St. John's and DeMatha are nationally ranked schools that consistently put out P5 talent and Our Lady of Good Counsel has been known to put out D1 talent as well.
Yeah, I was trying to figure this out, too. Gonzaga is almost literally in the center of the District, and I always thought the Catholic League was good in football (super good in basketball, right T Will?).
As a former WCAC school attendee, yeah the post is wrong. Gonzaga plays in one of the best high school sports conferences in the country.
They just don’t play a national IMG, Bishop Gorman type schedule.
There is no competition caveat for this dude.
Also, the Northern Virginia talent pool is really good too. Penn State has been regularly getting great recruits from this area. Don't understand this comment.
I think you're selling his competition level a bit short Seth. While WCAC hoops is better known and is arguably the strongest prep conference in the nation, they're also no slouch at football. St. Johns, DeMatha, Good Counsel and Carroll are perennial regional powerhouses with top level talent.
So there's tape out there of this guy blocking Nyckoles Harbor?

Don't look now but this class is up to 27th in the composite and now has hit the all important 50% threshold of blue chips amongst non-kickers (blue chips defined as four or five stars).
With six four stars already (out of 12), they're only one behind the 2018 class that had seven four stars out of 19 non kickers.
Nice little run here in the past month or so. Things are going to be just fine people.
Just as Brian, Seth, and Sam are pretty straightforward on Thursday morning it's okay to admit we missed out on some of our primary options and some of that was due to how our NIL is structured. I think it's also fair to say that given our self imposed limitations we are doing quite well all things considered. I'm confident we'll have a top 20 class but less confident it will be top 10. We'll likely have quite a few high level contributors but also probably have missed out on a few difference makers. I'm super high on last year's class so if we can plug the few holes there like OL, RB, and QB we'll be in really good shape even if this year is a bit of dip.
Congrats Evan, very happy to have you!
