Pryor on the up and up

Lots of "loaner cars" and he is cleared.
If he is so broke, why is he driving a 2009 Dodge Charger?

At some point all these shady dealings at OSU is going to bite them in the ass. My only hope is that it is sooner rather than later.
January 2nd, 2011 at 11:26 AM ^
Patience...
The longer it takes, the bigger the explosion will be.

what she said.

Haha, wow. Just like teeball.

Is they? I's don't know if they's will

Don't these dealerships run credit checks anymore? This is a kid who has to hawk memoribilia for tat money. Good thing TP didn't buy. Some credit manager could have lost his job for that.

Gabe Watson wasn't a poor kid to begin with. He definitely could have gotten his parents to cosign on a loan.
January 2nd, 2011 at 11:24 AM ^
Yeah but he didn't get it until the season was over and eligibility stuff no longer mattered. That car was everywhere though.
January 2nd, 2011 at 12:12 PM ^
Becuase before the Hummer after finishing his senior year, he was driving a crappy old silver Monte Carlo, and I was sort of surprised someone hadn't upped his ride at least a little bit.
January 2nd, 2011 at 12:43 PM ^
He used to cruise down S. University in that thing, windows down music blaring. It would come by like every 3 minutes too, lol
January 2nd, 2011 at 11:05 AM ^
He has money to REPLACE the engine in his car, but he has to sell his trophies "for his family."
January 2nd, 2011 at 11:18 AM ^
I can't wait for all of this shit to catch up with those cheating bastards.
January 2nd, 2011 at 11:23 AM ^
Tressel is just as skilled at damage control as he is dirty. That's why none of this ever "bites him in the ass" the way everyone has been waiting for it to for the last 8 years.
January 2nd, 2011 at 11:28 AM ^
was pete carrol... the more of these stories that come out the worst its going to get for OSU, where there is smoke there is fire... correct me if i am wrong but isn't this the same scam that tressel was running at youngstown state???
January 2nd, 2011 at 11:52 AM ^
The power play to get everything he wanted out of the most recent situation (getting the players in the Sugar Bowl, a pledge for next year, AND a built-in PR excuse) shows to me that Tressel is on another level than Carroll or anyone else I have ever seen at this game.
If there's any justice, it will all come crashing down for him. But I'm not holding my breath anymore. The man is truly cunning.
January 2nd, 2011 at 3:25 PM ^
You're not looking at the big picture...The whole state of ohio has a hardon for Tressel... nothing is going to happen. People loved Pete Carrol too -- but only on Figueroa Street. Tressel has never had a Bill Plaschke or Michael Rosenberg gunning for him. Sure, Tressel is dirty, but who is gonna blow the whistle? Nobody near tUoOS.
January 2nd, 2011 at 3:36 PM ^
when you send in danny wetzel...
January 2nd, 2011 at 11:27 AM ^
When this info and the selling of the rings incident went public, OSU basically says we investigated and nothing happened, FU, why is that allowed? why didn't Michigan do the same?
<br>
January 2nd, 2011 at 11:48 AM ^
Because Michigan is an upstanding institution?
If we'd said we didn't find anything and they came in and did, we'd have been screwed.
January 2nd, 2011 at 11:48 AM ^
OSU self-reported these idiots, then informed the media after the investigation was complete. They had procedures in place and cooperated fully with the NCAA. As I understand the Michigan violations, the first time the NCAA heard about them was when it appeared in the local papers, after which Michigan self-reported.
January 2nd, 2011 at 11:55 AM ^
Self-reporting solves all, right? This seems to be the OSU view, which is why they lead the country in it by a wide margin. Not because they're dirty and there's so much to report, but just because they're so goshdarn honest.
January 2nd, 2011 at 7:45 PM ^
How thorough the investigation could have been if one of the three violations was news to the Compliance Director
January 2nd, 2011 at 1:43 PM ^
Because people closed ranks behind the head coach and the team. In Michigan, everyone was so eager to go after RR, it was like a feeding frenzy of people trying to turn in dirt on RR +/or the team. Sad state of affairs for AA.
January 2nd, 2011 at 11:38 AM ^
....and we all know it. Improper benefits to athletes at OSU is like anal rape in prison. Everyone knows it happens but no one does anything to stop it. They just turn a blind eye. The best thing that can happen is that OSU loses their bowl game and goes on a decade losing streak to Michigan after Harbaugh comes in and turns the program around! :)

Note to self: I DON'T EVER WANT TO GO TO PRISON.
January 2nd, 2011 at 12:03 PM ^
That was the fact that finally put you in the "I dont want to go to prison camp?" So can we infer that up to reading that line you were considering prison as a possible housing option?

I'm pretty sure the average prison cell would have more room.
January 2nd, 2011 at 12:16 PM ^
That's where they take a double, swap out a bed for a bunk bed, add a desk, and voila, you have a triple. It sucked because there were still just two small closets for three people. The only benefit was I got to live on the same floor as future blog star, Steve Sharik. At least I think it's the same guy. How many Steve Sharik's can there be?
January 2nd, 2011 at 12:17 PM ^
will not end well.

This practice of "loaners" has been around for years at thee OSU. Maurice Clarett had similar run-ins with the state highway patrol, rarely, if ever, in his own car.

He, much like Pryor, always had the right excuse and was backed by his AD and head coach. So, so, shady. Maybe if Pryor gets a bur in his saddle after his suspension, he'll turn on Tressel and the school to help the investigation.
January 2nd, 2011 at 12:53 PM ^
... I'd be careful being to self righteous about this. It is a very common practice in many programs. Back in my day at UM there were more than a few football players driving around in some of the latest model SUVs. Usually, the lease is under an aunt's name or something like that.
January 2nd, 2011 at 1:08 PM ^
My son's friend just came over wearing a TP jersey and an Ohio State sweatshirt. I actually had to touch the sweatshirt when I moved it from one place to another. I feel bad kicking a ten year old out of my house. Maybe I'll just go for a long drive.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:35 PM ^
Don't look at it as if you are kicking the 10 year old out, just think about kicking the clothes out.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:41 PM ^
...Kick out the clothes and not the kid? I think that raises some even greater questions about ethics.
January 2nd, 2011 at 10:59 PM ^
Whoa there tiger! If there is a 10 year old visiting your house I hope you have kids their age as well, and if so, give them some of your kids UM gear to wear!
January 3rd, 2011 at 12:04 AM ^
the car thing is pretty common at most schools as another poster pointed out above. Most of these athleets get some kind of "improper" benefit. Granted OSU is pretty shady on a lot of things, and I'd love nothing more than for them to burn, however, Tressel did come out and say that the "over practicing" happens at most major schools and wasn't a big deal, when the rest of the media was trying to crucify us for it. As much as I hate OSU, I feel honor bound to not sling mud, but to let them get caught on their own and fry for it.
