Darian Cooper Eliminates Michigan
According to Scout.com, Darian Cooper, the defensive tackle from DeMatha HS in Maryland, has elminated Michigan out of his final 4. With Martin becoming a senior next year this makes Danny O'Brien one of Michigan's top, if not the top priority in the 2012 class.

Sadly this was not a surprise.

Wasn't he scheduled for a visit? Isn't he close to Delonte?
December 14th, 2010 at 9:18 PM ^
I may end up looking stupid for this, but we don't have anyone named Delonte.
EDIT: NVM Hollowell.
December 14th, 2010 at 9:24 PM ^
I should have added DB Hollowell.
December 14th, 2010 at 9:18 PM ^
It was reported that they became friends during "BBQ at the Big House" event. He was supposed to come stay with Delonte and his family for some time. I guess that never happened.
December 14th, 2010 at 9:24 PM ^
Tom just said that he scheduled his visit for Jan. Maybe he will still come up.

Good luck to him.

As much as I like our current coach and staff this is a real fiasco. Landing at least one DT should have been a TOP priority for this class. I'm an old fashioned kind of guy. You win this game by fortifying the trenches. That's always been the secret and its the reason why OSU has been kicking our ass these past couple of years. It's incredible to me that we can be in this predicament.
December 14th, 2010 at 9:31 PM ^
The reason he stated in their article was the uncertainty of the coaching situation. He had a friend deal with this such thing and wanted no part of it. It will be like this until it is resolved one way or the other.
December 15th, 2010 at 8:28 AM ^
we have heard from DB himself and many on this blog that this is not impacting recruiting.....

Dumb, dumber, or dumbest comment he has ever made. Walls gone, Frost probably gone (don't see an EE committing to us with our current situation), Cooper gone, Crawford starting to show interest elsewhere(?), Dee potentially gone. The pimp hand has become a limp wrist.

I have nothing to add on this thread - save this sucks.
I swear, though, I'm taking "Double Fisted Dong Punch" as the name for my new band.....

Well . . . uhhh . . . nobody.

There is a Syracuse commit that is supposed to come Jan. 7th for a visit. His last name is Trudo. Other than that, it appears not a lot is going on.
December 14th, 2010 at 10:42 PM ^
I might be alone here, but I don't really like our chances with Trudo
December 14th, 2010 at 10:54 PM ^
Plus whoever the next coach targets. Guys we haven't heard of at this point. It is tough to take, but this will settle out in our favor.
December 15th, 2010 at 8:32 AM ^
I am wondering what you are basing it on? First off, no one knows if there is even going to be a coaching change. Second, there is no evidence that even if we do pick up JH that there is going to be some magical transformation that will lead recruits to suddenly drop there current commitments and join our team.
The idea that this will all work out for the best gets harder to believe each passing day.
December 15th, 2010 at 8:39 AM ^
Look, we know it's going to happen. We're not going to hear anything definitive until after the bowl game. So rather than fretting about it, all you can do right now is sit back and let it happen.
I don't understand why people are freaking out in early December. Rodriguez pulled in a pretty solid recruiting class when the transition took place in 2007-08, and he's shown the ability to close over the last few classes. And if a coaching change is made, who knows what will happen?
Signing Day is almost two months away. That means there's about 16% of the recruiting cycle left. Relax.
December 15th, 2010 at 8:48 AM ^
but I am not one who is very good at just sitting back, it is one of my many flaws. When I care as much about something as I do this football team, it is nearly impossible for me to be calm and let things play out when I can see no possible reason for it to be happening.
Now I am not saying there isn't a reason that will become evident in the future, but at this point it is escaping almost every fan of this team.
Good council though, I just wish I was the type of person that could take it.
December 15th, 2010 at 9:09 AM ^
he'll have two to three weeks to recruit before the dead period and that is with an immediate hire. Which would lead me to believe DB's mind was already made up, he lied through his teeth, and he threw away a year of recruiting so he could get his way. Sounds like spoiled child syndrome.
December 14th, 2010 at 9:54 PM ^
Thank you DB for letting RR's future hang in the wind. You made Cooper realize that Michigan was not the place for him...good job and thumbs up! (sarcasm)
December 14th, 2010 at 10:00 PM ^
Good God, this board is full of such lame-ass whining when some high school kid decides to eliminate Michigan from his list.
I mean, I guess it's completely justified, since we all know that 17-year-olds' decisions are final.
December 14th, 2010 at 10:08 PM ^
Magnus,
You remind me of R. Lee Ermey in the Geico commercial.
