New Adidas Techfit Jerseys: When?
Does anyone have any inside info on when the new techfit jerseys are supposed to be debuted? There is only one more opportunity at home and I was wondering if they (Adidas) was even producing any away techfit jerseys. Im guess I am just overly anxious to see us bust out something better than the JV baggy jerseys we rock right now...

They wore them vs. Iowa.
November 12th, 2010 at 1:15 PM ^
They were supposed to, but they havent worn them at all.
November 12th, 2010 at 1:54 PM ^
All of the players tried them on one week in practice, to see if they would be ok to wear in a game, but none of them liked them because they were too tight and alot of guys had trouble breathing.
November 12th, 2010 at 2:06 PM ^
I talked with a couple guys about them and they all said they ride up under their pads, making them pretty uncomfortable, aside from the fact that they're way too tight.

Can we just go back to Nike already?
November 12th, 2010 at 1:47 PM ^
and see the Michigan version of those Pro-Combats...no thank you.
November 12th, 2010 at 2:12 PM ^
I would LOVE to see their version of the Mich Pro-Combats....just to see...
Do something with the whites but dont touch the blue.
November 12th, 2010 at 5:03 PM ^
We would not agree to the pro-combat uniforms. Just like Penn State.
November 12th, 2010 at 6:24 PM ^
...we hope.
November 12th, 2010 at 2:23 PM ^
Yeah I agree. We played so much better with that Nike Swoosh on our jerseys.
November 12th, 2010 at 3:19 PM ^
The swoosh also helps in recruiting. Some people refuse to acknowledge that fact because they resent the idea that something so trivial would matter, but the fact is that 16 yo kids are stupid.

it's all about the UA now.
November 12th, 2010 at 3:43 PM ^
and give up this?
http://blog.mlive.com/jim_carty/2007/07/bill_martin_talks_adidas_part.html
$60 Million ($28M over Nike) with a nice little "most favored program clause" where no other school can earn more than Michigan.
I know it's not all about the money, but adidas was also putting two full time people on-site in Ann Arbor to support the athletic department (only 1 person at other schools) and a bunch more equipment and such for non-revenue earning programs than Nike.
I would like to see a resurgence of the retro adidas logo:

I'm starting to feel like we have an addias curse or something, with football, basketball, and even hockey struggling most of last season
November 13th, 2010 at 1:37 AM ^
WE MUST PROTECT THIS BIG HOUSE!!!
November 13th, 2010 at 8:31 AM ^
nike is vastly overrated. stay with adidas or switch to underarmour.
November 12th, 2010 at 1:13 PM ^
NEED MORE MAIZE!!!!!
November 12th, 2010 at 2:03 PM ^
I need actual maze, not this highlighter eye-bleed yellow they've been pushing.
November 12th, 2010 at 3:03 PM ^
November 12th, 2010 at 3:17 PM ^
hence the highlighter yellow. But yea, I don't like it either.
November 12th, 2010 at 3:35 PM ^
uhhh do you have a source for that claim? Is it even possible to trademark a color? not a logo, but just the color? Isn't that considered public domain?
November 12th, 2010 at 4:05 PM ^
A color can be trademarked in certain circumstances. I can't imagine the University of Michigan would give up the rights to Nike.
The University has it's own brand guidelines which includes official colors...

http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/um-colors-sun-and-blue
From the Daily:Nike also copyrighted the color “Maize,” so Adidas actually had to make a new version of our school color, now known as “Sun”
November 12th, 2010 at 7:04 PM ^
Now I'm curious.
I wonder where the Daily found that information. Reading through the MGoBlog thread, many of the other posters were doubting that statement also... not that it makes it anymore true or false.
November 12th, 2010 at 11:24 PM ^
Thanks for that. I had been wondering why the color changed.
I like the old color much, much, better. That is quite absurd that a color shade can be copyrighted.
November 13th, 2010 at 11:35 AM ^
Well they went the wrong way. Should've gone with a darker yellow rather than 'if your pee looks like this, see a doctor immediately' yellow.
November 12th, 2010 at 4:43 PM ^
Not to mention that Nike used the same bright yellow on its uniforms. I have a jersey from 1998 and the shade of yellow is indistinguishable from what we have now.
November 12th, 2010 at 1:13 PM ^
There was a bit in the UniWatch ticker a few weeks ago that the players vetoed them after trying them on for the first time because they were far too snug.
November 12th, 2010 at 1:50 PM ^
November 12th, 2010 at 1:16 PM ^
I don't have any insider info, but I would assume that they debut the jerseys next year. It makes more sense from a marketing standpoint, especially if we are going to be getting a new away jersey which I hope we do.
November 12th, 2010 at 1:17 PM ^
They wore them last week againt Illinois.
You can tell because they have no seems.
November 12th, 2010 at 1:22 PM ^
off topic, but somewhat related i.e. jersey manufacturing
crisler autobiographies say he invented the tear away, but if you google it russell corp says they invented it
November 12th, 2010 at 1:28 PM ^
what have you done.....NOTHING....NOTHING!
November 12th, 2010 at 1:47 PM ^
A good U-googlizer
November 12th, 2010 at 1:23 PM ^
this was from last week's game - same old jersey. http://www.flickr.com/photos/annarborcom/5151889696/in/set-72157625199282921/ They havent worn them yet
November 12th, 2010 at 1:31 PM ^
I knew I wasn't crazy I've been anticipating the new jersey's hard for a while right now and was gonna be real pissed if I was too drunk last weekend to notice they were wearing them...
November 12th, 2010 at 1:38 PM ^
They look exactly the same... Not much to really go crazy about.
November 12th, 2010 at 1:34 PM ^
the easy difference to spot is how the adidas logo is framed by a trapezoid in the new jersey
November 12th, 2010 at 1:41 PM ^
Besides looking cool, what are the benefits of the techfit jerseys? Would it make it hard for opposing teams to grab the jerseys since they are tighter?
November 12th, 2010 at 1:59 PM ^
IIRC:
1.) As you stated, tighter -- harder to grab the jersey
2.) Lighter
3.) More mobility, especially around the arms
4.) Cooler -- wicks away moisture

November 12th, 2010 at 5:09 PM ^
Theres an entire series on youtube about the benefits of these jerseys. I really wish they worked out for the team, cause I think they look 100x better than the current ones.
November 12th, 2010 at 5:18 PM ^
Denard does make the old jerseys look pretty good...
November 13th, 2010 at 8:37 PM ^
A little creepy dude.
November 12th, 2010 at 1:56 PM ^
We haven't won a game since the jerseys were debuted by Adidas (the week of the Iowa game). RR promised the team he would let them wear them once they won a game and became bowl eligible.
You'll see them Saturday. Book it!
/completely guessing
November 12th, 2010 at 2:00 PM ^
Soo your saying there's a chance
November 12th, 2010 at 2:06 PM ^
Why does adidas need to have their name underneath the three stripes logo? You don't see Nike, UnderArmour or Reebok doing that.
November 12th, 2010 at 2:27 PM ^
Those other companies have much more recognizable logos(Nike + Underarmour) that don't incorporate their name in it. However, Reebox's logo might be similar to the three stripes.
November 13th, 2010 at 4:43 AM ^
Because they're douchers.
They feel the need to mark their territory by pissing on everything with their retarded logo.
Seriously look at RRs presser videos. On his apparel you'll notice the Adidas logo 5(!) times, and the M logo twice.
Yeah, increased money, but how much are we losing because people aren't buying the adidas gear? i haven't brought a single thing with that crappy shade of Maize they use. Hanging onto my nike stuff, hoping we go back.
Yeah, increased money, but at what cost? Hey, we'd get money from advertising in the Big House, let's do that too. We may as well, because our current apparel from Adidas is just as bad. All of our coaches and players are walking Adidas billboards.
