I'm ok with that.

Everybody is freaking out that our 2nd year team has lost to these two teams who clearly have more experience (hence the turnovers). I think we will be okay, and we will hopefully beat PSU, Purdue and Illinois and the other two... well, you never know what can happen. Football is a crazy sport.
Go Blue! Secure a bowl!

Thank you for posting this. Perspective makes all the difference in the world.
October 17th, 2010 at 12:50 PM ^
Florida State is ranked a little too high and Arizona a little too low.
October 17th, 2010 at 4:17 PM ^
Disagree. Florida State had a just okay game this week, but their one loss is to a surprisingly good Oklahoma team. FSU has been otherwise playing really well all year. In my eyes they should go the rest of the way undefeated, including a win over rival Florida. Arizona had an impressive win over Iowa and a close loss to Oregon State, but I feel they are lucky to be in this situation today. I see them losing to Stanford, USC, Oregon and ASU...which are their four last games.... They don't end the season ranked.
Also, I would choose FSU over Arizona in a head to head, wouldn't you?
October 17th, 2010 at 12:51 PM ^
here, we did lose to 2 top 12 teams. Patience my friends, patience. Wait until after the Purdue and/or Illinois games to freak out if need be.
October 17th, 2010 at 1:17 PM ^
I don't know, Illinois seems to be markedly better this year than they were supposed to be. They have a solid D line and a great RB. Sadly I could see us losing to them again.
October 17th, 2010 at 1:23 PM ^
i dont think the fact that we lost is as frustrating as how we lost. we all came into this season expecting to lose a few. but when we go out there, and shoot ourselves in the foot, thats what irks me
October 17th, 2010 at 1:43 PM ^
Right, but it is still preferable to being flat-out dominated in every phase of the game. At this point I will take mistakes by young playmakers, since young players will become less likely to make the same mistakes as they mature physically and mentally.
At least we are going toe-to-toe with a couple of top 12 teams despite our injuries and inexperience. Next year both MSU and Iowa lose a ton of their starters, while we return the bulk of our team. We knew that this year would see some rough games. As long as we hold serve against at least 2 out of PSU, Purdue and ILL, things are still looking good for next year and for the future.
October 17th, 2010 at 4:03 PM ^
How then would you like us to lose? I understand it's frustrating, but had we not shot ourselves in the foot, wouldn't we have won? Would it be better to have the offense go 3 and out all day? Penn State fans will tell you that's no fun either.
October 17th, 2010 at 12:52 PM ^
Somebody tell me please that MSU is going no higher...please? It's okay if you lie to me, just tell me.
October 17th, 2010 at 1:00 PM ^
They're not going any higher.
October 17th, 2010 at 1:02 PM ^
MSU is not going any higher.
Also I love shorts Brewery, My family has a place in Bellaire, every time I go up I get a Soft Parade and artichoke dip, so damn good!
October 17th, 2010 at 1:42 PM ^
Soft Parade gets an auto +1 every time
October 17th, 2010 at 1:08 PM ^
MSU is going no higher.
October 17th, 2010 at 5:52 PM ^
They have a cheesecake schedule from here on out, so, yeah...
October 17th, 2010 at 2:06 PM ^
It might be rather interesting if MSU continues on and goes undefeated this year. I would almost bet that Dantonio would be gone in a heartbeat if they do.
October 17th, 2010 at 2:44 PM ^
Sweet dreams, sweet chuck.
October 17th, 2010 at 12:52 PM ^
Timing your wins is everything...V. Tech, Miami? really??
October 17th, 2010 at 12:59 PM ^
for ending the losing streak.
October 17th, 2010 at 1:01 PM ^
yet they are lower in the polls, WTF?
October 17th, 2010 at 2:04 PM ^
Yeah, that's just plain absurd.
October 17th, 2010 at 2:20 PM ^
October 17th, 2010 at 4:17 PM ^
Maybe, but the computer rankings are going to continue to be a killer for them this year. They were already going to be punished in the computer rankings because of strength of schedule, and losing to Wisconsin isn't going to help that at all (because of Wisconsin's loss to MSU).
October 17th, 2010 at 1:14 PM ^
will be fun next weekend.
Hopefully NW beats State to put an end to their rise. Fitzgerald is a good coach and the 'Cats are feisty. PAINT THE TOWN PURPLE
October 17th, 2010 at 1:30 PM ^
tough game remaining. IOWA at Iowa, they are better than everyone else on their schedule, and they can beat Iowa. Sorry folks but 12-0 is within their grasp.
They just came through a 3 game stretch of UW, UM and Illinois with flying colors.
October 17th, 2010 at 2:08 PM ^
Iowa defense will stop MSU's offense.
October 17th, 2010 at 3:25 PM ^
Can loose to anyone. D is ok but cousins cant get it done. They will loose two games before the season is over. You are living way to close to the shit factory that is msu
October 17th, 2010 at 1:30 PM ^
Miami ranked.
Really
This has been one the biggest disappointments this season. I watched that game and they were in a dog fight against Duke.
October 17th, 2010 at 1:33 PM ^
the number 8 and 12 teams.
October 17th, 2010 at 1:36 PM ^
msu will screw up one of these weeks. i knew osu would and i'm sure msu will too
October 17th, 2010 at 1:39 PM ^
I, by no means, think we should be ranked... but we lost to the #8 and #12 teams. Meanwhile, a team that lost to James Madison and has the same record that we do is ranked! I don't get it.
October 17th, 2010 at 1:49 PM ^
I think it really comes down to what has happened the past couple of years with Michigan or at least last year that's affecting your ranking. Losing two in a row also doesn't help very much. You come into the Big Ten undefeated and the losses start piling up. You're definitely looking like a better team than last year at least offensively but the pattern is still there unfortunately for you.
October 17th, 2010 at 1:54 PM ^
A lot of poll voters vote based on perceived trends. Our trend is that we lost two in a row. VT's trend is 4 straight wins, with a couple of blowouts. If we run off three straight wins, those same poll voters will put us back into the rankings.
October 17th, 2010 at 1:44 PM ^
Quite the log jam of BigTen teams (including Nebraska)
October 17th, 2010 at 1:55 PM ^
Well, with Oklahoma's jump to #3, they should easily pass BSU via strength of schedule. Oregon-Oklahoma MNC matchup would be a fun one; two high profile offenses teeing it off. Would be Oklahoma's chance at revenge for that botched call in Eugene a few years ago.
