Because the ACC doesn't want to stop at 14. They want 16. It absolutely makes sense to have Pitt and PSU.
|3 years 48 weeks ago||Nope.||
The 7th hit should be left out.

The NCAA needs to make a point here. Not just to the organizations it has authority over, but to the public as well. This is a high profile case about someone outside of the program offering illegal benefits to the student athletes (though also the coverup of it). The NCAA needs to let the public know that if you do this, there could be serious repercussions to your favorite team. This way, the NCAA can discourage such actions in the future.
|4 years 3 weeks ago||A Likely Story...||
I have a hard time believing that anyone thinking about what is best for the program and the school would go along with this plan unless they had to. They must have had to pay him. He was either going to get paid or cooperate with the NCAA.
I don't much care for conspiracy theories, but this move just seems too idiotic.

The '02 season is way outside of the statute of limitations. My understanding is that they can't do anything to punish violations more than 4 years back.

...and I had a number 1 combo with lemonade. Yum. A perfect night. I only hope tomorrow goes as well and the SEC losing streak continues!

D'juan and D'uttajuan Divisions.

We are not the "Legends and Best." That is just awful.
|4 years 41 weeks ago||Disagree. Florida State had||
Disagree. Florida State had a just okay game this week, but their one loss is to a surprisingly good Oklahoma team. FSU has been otherwise playing really well all year. In my eyes they should go the rest of the way undefeated, including a win over rival Florida. Arizona had an impressive win over Iowa and a close loss to Oregon State, but I feel they are lucky to be in this situation today. I see them losing to Stanford, USC, Oregon and ASU...which are their four last games.... They don't end the season ranked.
Also, I would choose FSU over Arizona in a head to head, wouldn't you?
|4 years 44 weeks ago||Mmmm||
I'm drinking the Denard Robinson Kool-aid.
And so are the announcers of the TCU-SMU game, by the way.
|4 years 45 weeks ago||How about this:||
You could put the old scoreboards in yost. You might have to change it around a little bit (must say "period" not "quarter, for example), but yost could really use some replay.
|4 years 46 weeks ago||Not so fast.||
I get it, Sonic is fast and will never get caught from behind. But until he has untied shoelaces, he can't be the blog's fill-in for Denard.

to put in this thread: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/big-ten-divisions-be-announced-wednesday
But thanks for repeating info.
|4 years 48 weeks ago||Eligibilty, yes. But, ability?||
Dionte Allen would NOT have to sit out a year because FSU is kind to those wanting to transfer away, so long as they aren't transferring to another ACC school. FSU signed a release that allows Allen to play immediately, without having to sit out a year.
This is a very good point. Allen was a kid with a lot of hype, but he simply hasn't produced. My understanding is he has work ethic issues and is simply not as talented now as he was as a senior in HS. I wouldn't expect him to play for OSU. But, hey, it's one fewer scholarship they have to give to someone who may actually contribute, so I'm okay with the transfer.
|4 years 49 weeks ago||Yuck||
The more and more I read about this, the angrier and angrier I get at how incompetent and selfish the higher-ups are. The are looking first how to maximize income and looking second at how to best minimize fan's anger. Anyone who thinks that they haven't taken UM and OSU being in the same division off the table is wrong. They will say they are considering it, just to appease fans for the time being. However, they will never actually do that because they want a UM-OSU clash in the title game as priority number one.
|4 years 49 weeks ago||RR said no offensive players||
Is he an offensive "player" if he's not going to play? Okay that's a slight exaggeration, but he wasn't going to start. There's no reason he can't play both ways if need be. Extraordinary circumstances call for desperate measures. I don't think KG will start at CB right away, but traditionally receivers have been a natural switch to CB, because of their speed, hips, knowledge of receiver's schemes, and ball skills (usually). This could work well. You just have to give it time.

Those were before my time. I grew up there, but am a Michigan Man now.
|4 years 49 weeks ago||He was absolutely fired.||
He was absolutely fired. And he absolutely deserved to be. He was not working any more. What was worse was that the majority of his staff wasn't working any more. If he was a figure head of a successful program it's one thing, but these coaches just all decided they didn't need to work because they were Bobby's old pals.
The players quotes are crazy. The players are actually told to lift weights when in the weight room, "not just hang out."
There's a good read here (ESPN) about the changes in the program. It's quite an overhaul, but as a fan of a team with a coach on the edge, I'm interested in whether there is immediate payoff....
|4 years 49 weeks ago||Wait,,,what?||
So Wisconsin and Iowa are in both the East and West?
That is the worst divisional split suggestion I have seen.
|4 years 49 weeks ago||True||
Yup, and then it became the most watched regular season game of the year, pretty much every year.
A lot of things helped them to that, though, such as the fact that there are few football games on that day (often just 2), they were primetime, and it was early in the season (and therefore everyone is still just dying for more football, any football).
I repeat though, that i DO NOT believe that UM and OSU should replicate this. It's the wrong way to start the season. The season should build to this game, be a goal to work towards.

We call it The Game because it needs no nickname.
We capitalize The Game because it deserves respect and because it is unique.

|4 years 49 weeks ago||Look at the ACC||
As someone who was raised in the ACC, I can tell you that this is absolutely true. The FSU-Miami rivalry is bigger than it was because they are in the same conference, but not as big as it could be because they are in different divisions. I'm sure when the divisions were made the idea was that Miami and FSU would play for the conference championship just about every year and it would do wonderful things for the rivalry and the conference. This has never happened. FSU has only one it once, the first year, and Miami has never even played for it.
Fun fact though, just to play a little devil's advocate:
Moving the Michigan, OSU game to earlier may not be such a bad thing. The FSU vs. Miami game, when held on labor day (as was tradition at a time), holds the the Top Two Spots on the all time list of the highest rated games.
That said, I like the UM-OSU rivalry better, just the way it is.
|4 years 49 weeks ago||That's too few.||
That's too few breaks, I would totally support having commercials only for called time-outs, after scores (but not turnovers, keep that momentum going!), and after each quarter.
|4 years 49 weeks ago||The only thing diminishing the importance of the game...||
...Is the people who say it is diminishing the importance of the game.
A game or a rivalry is only as important as the fans say it is. Michigan and OSU will always hate each other and always battle each other no matter when and no matter where The Game is.
But, that does not mean we should give up on the rivalry, The Game, or the B10 Championship game. For both the schools and the conference, I think 99% of people would agree adding a championship is a good thing. We only have to decide as fans one thing: Would we prefer for The Game (again, the regular season version) to decide who goes to the B10 Champ game, or do we want to leave open a 2nd chance for redemption?
I like the all-or-nothing approach. No matter what, one school gets bragging rights for a year, and the other curses and shakes their fist. For that to happen, it means that OSU and UM must be in the same division and should play just once a year in the last game of the regular season.

Denard will be a baton twirler, and Jeremy Ross will be the baton.
|4 years 49 weeks ago||To Long of a Post?||
First of all, it's "too long of a post."
Second of all, this post was too long.
|4 years 49 weeks ago||FSU||
A lot of people are saying FSU is way too high, but they all seem to think FSU needs to be where everyone else has them. FSU could be a top 10 team, they certainly have a very good offense. We'll see about the defense in week 2 vs. Oklahoma.
What concerns me more is the fact that you have 3 ACC teams back-to-back-to-back. I think it's unlikely that any conference could finish like that, after they all play and beat each other up.
