Michigan reactions around the country
For everyone including people in AA.
Given my name I live in Denver. I honestly want to know what the feeling was like around the country.
At Lodo bar and grille it was complete joy in the last minute, I'm pretty sure I was standing on the table cheering at the end. I was so nervous, but was chest bumbping everyone around me ages 21 to 65 on the last TD.
I feel sorry for people that don't have my passion for this team or any team in particular. Complete jubilation, something I dont know how one gets without sports.(Minus the birth of your children, maybe)
I understand we did this last year, but fuck it last year is last year WE ARE MICHIGAN.
GO BLUE

some photo or video footage of ND reactions. I need a new avatar.

He made some classic exasperated faces on the sideline. My son said, on one Nate Montana play, "Now his coach is gonna yell at him." He was right.

was when he just rolled his eyes and shook his head in resignated disgust. I want to make a gif of it

The entire cheering section where I was at gave a big awwwwww like the sad soundbite in a sitcom when he did that. Freaking beautiful.

Someone could definitely make a sweet gif loop of all the disappointed faces BK made.
September 11th, 2010 at 9:48 PM ^
Notre Dame's coach is the Burger King. That's what I see each time I see "BK". Just thought I'd share. Beer is involved with this.
September 11th, 2010 at 10:52 PM ^
I couldn't help but notice BK sporting the visor, and the matching Spurrier facial expressions.

She's hotter than heck and the pout watching ND lose is incredible!

At the Fox and Hound in Philly, there was much jumping and singing at the alumni bar.
Now excuse me while I try to sober up...
September 11th, 2010 at 8:24 PM ^
and everyone was still hungover on this early sunday morning.
September 11th, 2010 at 8:24 PM ^
I'm hearing "it's great to be..." chants everywhere outside in AA
September 11th, 2010 at 8:24 PM ^
and a couple guys near me at a bar (they left before the game was over) were Bama fans and they said they were ecstatic that RR didn't go to Bama. F'in idiots thought Saban was God. Down in the South it's all about "just win." A lot of people down here are kind of ambivalent to Michigan, but they've seen mostly the media and think RR will be fired. Keep winning though and it will have a different flair a few weeks from now.
September 11th, 2010 at 8:25 PM ^
hundreds of MI people packing the bar - the beer flowed like wine and the women instinctively flocked like the salmon of capastrana
September 11th, 2010 at 9:02 PM ^
Thats my bar of choice too for Michigan football! Line out the door to get in. I'll probably watch the next few games from home though....but It'll be the loudest apartment in Logan Square.

because all of my friends [mostly psu but some miami (ytm) and osu] are loving denard and one of my miami friends asked me if rich rod would want to trade qbs.

and so most of my friends are school are nd "fans", but really are fans of their undergrad. So while they wanted ND to win, they aren't die hard. Majority of them were willing to admit that Denard is sick and that Michigan has a good team this year.
One of my friends called Denard a rapist...but in a good way.

Watched the game with one of my best friends (ND fan.)
I was flipping out the entire time, trying to keep myself from dropping F bombs b/c his 3 year old was down there with us.
They pulled it off, but my dear lord was it sloppy. Big plays were made when needed, but I will have nightmares about Cam Gordon inexplicably letting someone behind him in that situation. I still can't believe that happened, even given his inexperience.
All's well that ends well, I guess!!!!!!! Go BLUE!!!!!!!!

Uh, me dumb.

Mixed scene in Asheville. Where I watched, there is a great Michigan fan with a great attitude whom I've gotten to watch the game with the last two weeks. He, my wife, and I had a great time today, thought it was certainly tense on many occasions!
We went crazy at the end, and loved the outcome, as well as Denard's performance. Down here in SEC/ACC country, the OSU fans who were watching them beat Miami were happy for us, and we were also happy to see the BIG TEN representing themselves well in a number of games.
Unfortunately there were a few Michigan fans (thankfull not sitting by us all the time) who admitted that they almost wanted us to lose so that Rich Rod would get fired. One woman in particular seem like the type that always wanted something to complain about. They were *leaving* in the middle of the last drive, and were it not for our chearing, would have been in their car before the winning TD was scored. Oh, well, we can't all be great fans.
Anyway, Great Game. Great Win. ...And plenty of things to work on improving over the next few weeks so that we'll be even better by the time the Big Ten season rolls around.
GoBlue!

Unreal. These people do not deserve to be associated with our school. Of course, they'll celebrate this win all the same.

I'm in Boise right now, and when people take the time to let go of the me against the world attitude for their home Broncos, people were very impressed with Denard after the UCONN game and I think generally excited to see Michigan do well against Notre Dame (although there were a lot more ND fans here than Michigan fans at the bar)
September 11th, 2010 at 9:02 PM ^
Tom H must be crying in his beer when Denard was smoking down the field. The Milwaukee bar I was at was ROCKIN with the Victors. GO BLUE!
September 11th, 2010 at 9:33 PM ^
Please tell me there is a "Michigan Bar" in milwaukee. The trip home from duffy's is a long one when you've had too many.
I just couldn't tell if you were talking about a "michigan bar on saturdays where fans gather to watch gams" or a random good experience you had at a local establishment.
If there is one, for the love of God please let me know about it and i'll be there chest-bumping you after every big play and singing the Victors at the top of my lungs.

Try Oakcrest Tavern in Shorewood? I think that's where the Milwaukee alumni club meets for games.
September 12th, 2010 at 2:52 PM ^
thanks much - i'm definitely gonna check that out

Been getting tons of text messages about Denard. I have a couple of rational ND fans who praised him today.
PSU fans are glad they don't have to see him after this year.

FYI, to everyone in Philly, we, the Alumni Association, have moved official bars to Q's BBQ on 2nd and Chestnut in Old City, Philly. It's a better setup with better bar prices...
Any yeah, we were hopping on tables.

from my couch, I am lovin every minute of it.

Today was my first home UT game and I missed almost the entire 1st quarter to watch the rest of the MIchigan game. There were probably 15 of us (us=Michigan grads with 2-3 ND grads) in the corner watching the game and we erupted after scoring that last TD. We also got The Victors going after every TD.
I left the UT game midway through the 3rd quarter. Nothing could compare to the Michigan game.
September 11th, 2010 at 11:02 PM ^
MSU fans are pissing the shit out of me after this game. I had a MSU alum tell me "eh, Denard is fast, I'll give you that but without him you would have lost." I died inside.
September 11th, 2010 at 11:51 PM ^
he's on our team....
And if Notre Dame had beaten us 28-24 we would have lost to. But....we didn't.
September 11th, 2010 at 11:12 PM ^
Nothing to see here. Move along...

If a Spartan team plays in an empty stadium and no one is there to witness it, did it really happen?

I'm in Bluefield at least once a week. I make a point to always be sportin some Michigan gear.
I enjoy the dirty looks (common) and comments (rare). My usual reply is a big grin and "got anyone else we can use?". I do worry about my car with the Michigan helmet sticker in the back window...

crowd was super lively. very drunk, but super into it
ran into a spartan in NJ on the way home. he was probably the best spartan i've ever met, very complimentary and said we looked really good. I was just glad he never said dickrod
i think you'd be in denial at this point if you don't recognize that denard is probably college football's truest 'dual threat"

On the way home from work, I was listening to Jason Goch on 107.3, and the number of people giving Denard and RR props was pleasing. One cat even put Michigan in his top ten, and he was from Missouri.
