Harbaugh was hired to be the Head Coach of the Michigan Football program, not to be Tim Drevno's best friend. If your suggestion is that Harbaugh will put the program second behind his bond with Drevno, we have a bigger problem than any real or perceived failure of Tim Drevno.

We'll see how it goes. His team was not prepared at all when he played Michigan both times. His recruiting was pretty bad.

I'm not stoked about McElwain but this staff is still bringing in two guys who seem like really good recruiters and losing none (Frey's FL influence proved to be overstated).
No reason why they can't get things back to '16-'17 recruiting levels if the on-field success is there.

for a couple of years. If the 2019 class is like the 2016 & 2017 hauls, then it might not be that noticable. If 2019 is like 2018, then it's going to be frickin' obvious.

He has in depth knowledge of how football is played in the SEC. It can only make the Michigan team and coached better.

Hoke career record (not including TN): 78-70, with 6 losing seasons
McElwain career record: 44-28, with one full losing season.
So not really kinda like Brady Hoke.

McElwain coordinated great offenses at Bama before Bama was Bama. When he took over as OC, their talent level was very good, but not like it is today. He also did really well as a head coach at Colorado State, where his team ran a spread. Maybe the guy just isn't cut out to be a head coach at an elite program. The Peter principle is a very reall thing. Here were the recruiting classes he was dealing with at Bama:

2007: #10 - Saban hired
2008: #1 - McElwain hired

my hope is that he is a bullnose in a china shop with the offense, not afraid to recruit hammerheads. not just some megamouth, but having us basking in all of our maize and blue glory.
