Curious to see how much it fluctuates depending what MSU does against Iowa next weekend. Michigan hasn't covered against Sparty since 2006. Lets change that and blow them out under the lights .

I see no reason to think that MSU is better than Purdue.

Michigan State gained HALF their yards after Notre Dame took a 35-10 lead.

Peppers got a free two points out of it, yes.

Speaking of that, I still don't think I laughed as hard as I did at the ending to last year's UM / MSU game in ages. The return of that conversion attempt was somehow a poetic ending to that game and made the "Defeated With Dignity" headline in the State News that following Monday all the more hilarious.

Peppers swatted that away.

Yup, and it got shoved right up his ass, it was great.

WOTS is that he liked it too.

Why not try to get every point you can and why not work on your conversion play in a live game with a young team that needs the experience? It should/might help them when they need it down the road.

Air Force would beat MSU by 20. Sparty is gaaaaaaaaarbage.

The yardage in garbage time when ND took their foot off the gas doesn't count.
ND was 4-8 last year.

I would agree they were probably a little more talented last season on defense, but at least they won't be able to trot out O'Connor this year (I wish he still had eligibility).

Scoring on us. Maybe one fluke play gets them 3 or 7 points. It won't be close.

That ain't Shilique Calhoun coming through that Double A gap....hell it's not even Malik McDowell. The O-line won't dominate the line of scrimmage the way we would want them to against Sparty, but the idea that MSU is going to completely overwhelm us with the guys they have this season is laughable.
I'm not laying any money on a 17.5 point spread, but I'm also not worried. Florida is better than MSU. Air Force is better than MSU. Hell, I think Purdue is probably better than MSU. We come out all business and there's not a damn thing Sparty can do to beat us. It's science.
September 26th, 2017 at 1:35 AM ^
And they have less talent this year than last.

These predictions are always made too lightly. Unless a guy gets one particular injuring hit, he doesn't generally leave until the backup comes in because the game is out of hand. When we say "I don't think their QB will finish the game," what we really mean is that we think he's going to be really, really sore at the end of the day.
Our defense was considerably more powerful than Purdue's on Saturday, but our QB was the only one that was injured. Just how it goes.

It does feel like Lewerke could be dead man walking....hell, who knows if he even makes it past Iowa unscathed. They're no slouches on defense either.
September 25th, 2017 at 9:49 PM ^
Much like last year it will be a little too close for comfort for me, with Michigan pulling out a win. QB situation still unclear but defense should keep us in the game. Michigan wins 24-16 with msu kicking a bunch of field goals.

they always play us tight and MSU hasn't quite slipped to John L Smith levels of slap-yourself-in-the-face yet. I like a 28-13 type of game

Please help! Will be in the boonies in Italy for the UM vs. MSU game. Need advice on how to watch this since most streaming sites (ESPN etc) do not allow international streaming.
September 25th, 2017 at 10:02 PM ^
It'll have the Michigan game (usually multiple streams of it) every single week, plus just about any other game of relevance

In the boonies of Italy? Man, enjoy your time while you can! I know I sure as hell didn't want to come back when I was there! Anyways, there are other means of streaming available that don't involve ESPN if you catch my drift cough cough.

ESPN has some type of montly pay streaming service for European viewers. Sign up for the free trial of that and then cancel before you go home. I did this for the Michigan OSU game last year while I was in Sweden.

that line has a lot to do with Michigan's difficulties on offense. Even with a great defense, in college football, you anticipate a big play or two, so say State scores 14-17. Is Michigan scoring 32+? Then you do add in the rivalry, and it seems to fit.
I'm a little surprised to see that MSU is/was a 3 pt fave over Iowa...I know they are at home, but I wonder how much of that line is because of an Iowa hangover...wonder what the line would have been if Iowa held on last weekend?
