OT: Pistons Trade Morris for Avery Bradley, Renounce KCP's rights
Hats off to Stan for this trade, this is a great one.
Avery Bradley is a damn good player. Morris is a good role player at best, he never really impressed me with the team.

Update to this story, KCP's rights have been renounced, and he is no longer a restricted FA.
Bye bye KCP?
He's gone.
KCP is alright. He's not worth the money he wants.
Love Bradley's game.
But Bradley is definitely worth the money he would want. KCP's not.
I would much rather see Bradley with this team and then be the first one that hears the Pistons offer compared to KCP.
Andre was coming off an All-Star year when we gave him that contract. It was a very fair deal at the time. The guy isn't even 24 yet, so he still has time to get better.
I'd be a lot less down on him if he'd give underhand FT shooting a try. Seriously, you can't win anything with a sub-40% FT shooter.
I was starting to think Drummond's contract might be a bit of an albatross, but with players now signing "super max" deals out there going for $40M+, his $24M is beginning to sound positively middle class.
It's still probably more than he's worth, but I can at least pciture him being a #2 or #3 option on a championship caliber team. In my opinion, Jackson's role on a championship caliber team is off the bench. Jackson's contract is double what it should be, even if he was healthy. He's a high level back-up PG and a mid-level or worse starting PG. You don't pay $16M for that.
Do you think Bradley is worth the money? because he will command 20+ per
As a boston fan I am ok with this trade because I didnt want the Celtics giving him his next contract.
20 per or thereabouts, Bradley is worth way more than that.
He is a markedly better player.
Way more than 20 mil? Bradley is not a max player. Have fun with mediocrity.
Where completely average players get contracts 4x their actual playing value.
That's the way it is.
Have fun with medicority? We've been medicore for about a decade now. This is not a surprise.
lol I'm not pretending that but its nice to compete in ECF and rebuild at the same time. Thanks Brooklyn.
If the Celtics pulled off Hayward and George. Yes they could have beat Cleveland and would have probably been favorites.
I will say if Lebron wants to leave for LA and is checked out then Boston has a chance for an upset.
"6 games instead of 5 and still no chance" 1 game swing to determine series equals no chance? solid logic.
Basketball is my least favorite sport so I am a true bandwagon homer. I have no illusion of what the team is but I know when someone sounds like an idiot hater.
I was at game 3 of the NBA Finals and if not for two wide open corner 3's that Kyle Korver missed at the end of the game that series is going 7, not 5. Cleveland dominated both games at home except for the last three minutes of game 3 but all that's been lost as we've now annoited the might dubs as being unbeatable.
The Cavs were not that far behind the Warriors in the most recent finals IMO. Our bench and Tristin Thompson shit the bed and that was the difference. Not our big three. In fact Lebron had a positve plus/minus when he was on the floor but couldnt overcome how badly the bench performed during those few minutes he was out.
Fine, I fixed it.
Hard to get excited about the NBA unless you're a warriors or a cavs fan...
I agree that several of the games were close, but in no way did I think Cleveland was going to win that series. Golden State didn't play their best and it was still more than enough.
I'll have what mGrowOld is having. We must have watched a different series. I wouldn't say Cleveland dominated Game 3 but they definitely should have won that game.
The bench didn't shit the bed, the bench just isn't talented. Cleveland needs more talent if they expect to beat Golden State next year.
I didn't even know it existed, much less to shit a bed!
While I agree some seemingly higher percentage shots could have changed outcomes had they fallen in Game 3, it's not unrealistic to think Game 4 would have been different if Game 3 went the Cavs way. LBJ is a beast, and while I'm not a fan of some off-the-court musings he makes, it's impossible not to respect his will on the court. And even given he's in a class by himself as a player able to influence games, the Cavs just didn't have enough. Everything broke right for the Cavs in Game 4, and nearly everything in Game 3 (LBJ/Irving had 77!). Klay on the other hand was only a factor in Game 3 when he dropped 30 with 6 3s. Otherwise the Warriors were not exactly firing on all cylinders.
Warriors got better this offseason, if that was even possible. Jordan Bell in the draft (Draymond 2.0, minus the nut-kicking), underrated Casspi (i remember watching him in Sacto), and a delicious, oft-boneheaded yet no less lethal Swaggy P to do very little yet do it well. All while keeping Iggy, Shaun and David West to have the core death squad and depth intact (TBD on Zaza/McGee, yet likely).
TL;DR - see you for part 4 in June!
Hardee-har-har my friend. While you were wasting your time signing such low-level talents as Bell and Casspi and resigning everybody else we made a move that counters EVERYTHING you've done and then some.
Behold. I present to you the ultimate "Warrior-killer". The man, the myth, the LEGEND that is....
Jose Motherfucking Calderon.
Suck that Warriors fans. We got this.
Hey...does anybody know any other ex-Pistons that might like to be our GM? Have to work for cheap but hey, at least you get to report to Dan Gilbert.
I think Isiah Thomas is available!
They need a guy like Wiggins, not Melo. Someone that slashes and plays wicked D. Like Shumpert, but, you know, able to put the ball in the hoop.
Can they pry Austin Rivers away from the Clips?
Yet let me stop by the store and pick up some spaghetti and meat sauce for all those strained hamstrings he has.
I don't know what the answer is for the Cavs to get over the hump for one last title in what may be James' last year (?). Boston got marginally better with Hayward yet losing Bradley in the process was not smart on Ainge's part. Not sure why he publicly committed himself to dispose assets on the cheap to make room. Yet even then, they don't have enough to beat the Cavs.
Good news for you is the East is DREADFUL. LBJ could take off 20 games this year and the Cavs would still sleepwalk to 50 wins and a top 3 seed. He'd be fresh for the playoffs and all bets are off (as we saw in 2016).
The Cavs are spending way too much money on Thompson and Love considereing they generally can't be on the court at the same time, especially against GS.
the Cavs just re-signed Korver yesterday...
Sorry but that series wasnt going 7 games.
Series goes back to Oakland tied 2-2 with both teams having one blow-out win each. You're saying you dont think the Cavs could hold serve in game 6 and force a game 7?
Cavs dont blow game 3 this thing is going 7, just like 2016. Now I think we'd probably lose game 7 to be honest but the thought that there's this giant chasm between the two teams is almost funny to me. The Warriors are better but they're not THAT much better.
FWIW there was something "off" all year with the team. Lebron, Kyrie and Kevin looked fine but JR was never right (injury plus premie child issues), Shump was a total mess, TT looked disinterested in playing, Deron Williams was fat, Derick Williams played great for about 10 games then Ty Lue decided he wasnt allowed to play anymore and Richard Jefferson, God love him, is about my age.
the other 28 teams (93.3% of the league) might as well not exist. Even the most lopsided European soccer leagues have more parity than that.
Cavs had a chance in three games and they just played inexcusably bad defense the first two.
The whole "the talent on GSW is just on another level and LeBron has no chance without PG, Melo, and/or Wade" idea is an apologist take that seems to have been pushed by LeBron's camp because so much came from Windhorst, Chris Hayes, etc. (or it could just be those guys trying to further ingratiate themselves).
(Sorry but I don't think you're getting either Banana Boat guy on a buyout - Dolan has a cable empire to feed content to, Reinsdorf is a cheapskate, and the players association doesn't want anyone giving deals on buyouts because it makes for terrible precedent)
or if you're a degenerate gambler.
Pure speculation, Stan is not willing to match what he wants.
Now that the Pistons have signed a much better version of KCP (in my opinion), there is no reason to keep him around.
How much more salary they need to shed, but this at least gives Stan another year to sort that out.
Far better version is quite a bit of hyperbole. Bradley is a more polished offensive player than KCP. But Bradley also had a lot more talent around him to take the pressure off him on offense. KCP rates out higher than Bradley in the majority of advanced stats and is certainly a far better defender and a more natural fit at the 2 while being a bit younger as well.
Edit- Looks like KCP's rfa rights were waived so he gone. Another sub 25 year old player that SVG has let walk and gotten absolutely nothing for. Not really sure what he is trying to do at this point. The exact same issue with KCP will be here next year with Bradley as well.
Celts oozing cap desperation; nice that the Pistons were able to capitalize
I like the guards on this team except Reggie (not a fan), but the frontcourt is void. Unless the plan is to put Ellenson out there and tell him to shoot a lot.
