i'm no brian, but here's my mini-UFR
yay for DG and the exciting future.
boo for the defense over-running the play and slow safeties.
But I will hazard a guess this gent will one day be an exciting purveyor of the proverbial pigskin.
Quick analysis:
Bad snap.
Couple of the whiffs were by Moundros (FB playing LB, not projected starter) and Leach (former walk-on) who were engaged by OL?
Teric Jones? gets passed by but I can't even get a good answer if he's playing WR or DB for next season.
Vlad Emilien (clearly #5 but thought he was out this week?) didn't have the angle or speed to catch up. But then again he is hampered by lingering injury, no?
Overall: DG took advantage of some good 2nd-level blocking by OL and took off against a 3rd string D (guessing)
Was that the V-flap from FRIENDS at the end? Or just some extra butterfly presses. Not too worried, glad he's just getting experience and I have another video to wet my appetite. Fall can't come any sooner.
It did look as though Vlad had a knee brace on - I'm hoping this means that he just couldn't run as fast because of that particular injury that he's still recovering from. That, or, DG is just insanely fast. I'd take either.
If this was 3rd string vs. 3rd string I would say our depth at offense is far more advanced (game wise) than defense.
I think if he has two working knees, he saves that touchdown. It did not look like he was running full tilt.
Nice to see him handle a less-than-good snap, although it's probably just a little tiny bit easier in spring practice. Also, he carries that ball like a running back--high and tight. I also like how he switched to his left hand at the end of the run. If you're gonna have a qb running, ball handling is important.
I'm having flashbacks of the 2005 Rose Bowl.
DG is smooth and deceptively fast like VY. Can't wait until he's doing this against helpless Buckeyes.
at the end.
And when did Tate start playing defense?
And when did he get so tannn?
he got swoll, bro
Totally worth it. :)
SWAG.
2 More:
Love it.
to be the Defense stopping a 60 yard run before it happens.
I'd be much happier if our third string QB didn't bust off a 60 yard run on our defense, but at least the future looks bright.
That most definitely was not our first string D. Sure, its disappointing to see them give up a big run, but hopefully the guys playing on Saturdays this fall will show a little better than that.
Hopefully that was the third string D
Also didn't the commentator say that the defense was allowed to make contact but not tackle? Seems to me that maybe they were not going full tilt. But I could way off.
That would apply should they have even... well touched him.
DG looks really good in that MICHIGAN uniform! I've seen him play for Inkster, their uniforms didn't do him justice!
What about the helmet? OUR HELMETS HAVE WINGS!!!!!
Doesn't the uniform include the helmet. If he said jersey i would understand but he had it covered.
That gave me a flashback of the 2005 Rose Bowl Game. Hopefully Devin does that in a future Rose Bowl Game.
Wow, some of you are being total buzzkills. It was a nice run by our most prized recruit. So what if it wasn't against the number 1 defense? Give the kid some love and move on. It's PRACTICE in APRIL.
We talking bout practice mayne....not a game...not a game, we talking bout PRACTICE mayne. Sorry couldn't help myself.
Are we as big of a buzz-kill as Buzz Killington?
This is exactly the kind of QB who has been killing Michigan since Donovan McNabb (or even Roger Staubach for anyone else who can remember that far back), and now they have two of them if the "spring buzz" about Denard is correct.
I am looking forward to Michigan being the team with the elusive QB who turns busted plays into first downs and even TD's.
If we are going to be lucky to win 7 or 8 games, why not just play DG, like tOSU played TP as a true frosh?
I know why RR may not want to do this...
Apparantly you didn't read the front page, specifically where where McGee said that they have no problem having him play as a true frosh if he's the best option.
When has this staff ever redshirted a player who is good enough to start?
Why not just play him? You mean play him for the hell of it, or play him because he's the best option. Do you, as a Michigan fan, want us to play DG against OSU if he's not the best option? Or should we do it because that's what they did when TP was a true frosh?
Otherwise good, well-informed comment.
than the "deceptively fast" label he's been tagged with.
the ball security. DG carried it high and tight when he hit traffic. No fumbles plz...
the other practice vids, he's actually pretty gritty and breaks tackles as well even though he sometimes looks like a slender dude. He's extremely physically gifted and Barwis hasn't even touched him yet.
Well, Barwis has had his hands on him since early January, so that's not completely true. Also, and this might not be much to do with Barwis, but DG was listed at 195lbs on his Rivals profile, and now he's listed at 203 on the M roster. He's no TP yet, but he's putting on weight.
