Goodbye Manny Harris
Todays game pissed me off on so many levels but the worst part is that I believe that was Manny Harris' last game in a Michigan uniform. His draft stock can't be higher. He just had the game of his life on national tv where he made 2 go ahead shots with under 30 sec left while being guarded by the national player of the year. I hope to god that I'm wrong but if I'm not i wish him the best of luck.
One good 10 minutes of down-the-stretch basketball when your team has nothing else to lose doesn't necessarily outweigh an entire season of coming up short of expectations on an otherwise awful basketball team.
He'll be back, unless he's hell-bent on going the NBDL route.
and the fact that this was a 2nd round B10 tourney (not NCAA tourney) game takes some of notice away from him (and the fact that we lost).
Hopefully, he realizes that he'll be the #1, undisputed leader next year and will have a chance to become a 1st round pick.
However, given how everything has ended up (defeat grasped from the jaws of victory for all things Michigan sorts), I wouldn't count on him being back.
Belein will feature him as much as possible next year like he did with Sims this year. Unless Manny took a ton of Greek, Portugese, or Spanish at the MLB he's staying.
He was 3rd team all big ten. That is not NBA caliber. I wish I could say he does go because if that were the case, Harris would have had a Tractor Traylor like tourney run.
If he is smart he leaves and at worst ends up in europe. No reason to come back and play in a system which you don't fit in. best of luck to him either way.
Exactly. I would gladly take 300k a year over another losing season.
I would much rather wait 1 year to possibly make millions/year
If everyone says he's no good, how is he going to improve his draft status that high in one year? With the risk of getting injured? He's probably booking his flight to Europe this afternoon.
He has the potential to develop into an NBA-caliber player. No one disputes that. If he were a big man, he'd be drafted for sure, since they're so hard to find. But shooting guards are a dime a dozen. Teams don't draft a SG to put him on the bench. If he isn't NBA-ready - and the scouts don't think he is right now - then he'll go undrafted. With a year of hard work, he might become NBA-ready next year. He could put in that work in the NBDL or a lesser European league, or he could do it at Michigan. It's up to him.
much rather not be coached by a idiot who does not press the inbounder, or if your not going to press him double team Turner. But hey what do I know
Beilein is an idiot because Steve Lavin (out of coaching) thought pressuring the inbounder was the right call? Well, if Smitty D says so too. You can't allow an easy 2 there, and we can't pick off a deep pass because we have no size. The inbounder can run along the line, make the exact same pass, and now we're defending 4 with 4 instead of 5.
Turner made a running THIRTY-FIVE FOOT shot. It's, at best, a 5% proposition. Stu should have been closer, but it's not like we have some lockdown defender lurking around I don't know about. It's bad luck. Insanely, soul-crushing bad luck, but that's it. The end.
Would have been to have Morris on him. Bigger/longer and better defender than Stu. But that's the shot as a coach you're willing to give up, he just made it which happens sometimes.
well we won the gaem every one seen how alte the clock started where all the refs froem ohio head over 3 seconds to get where he took the shot but beilein should be fired if i was manny i would leave beilein siad we just not good this year hell its just bad coaching
There's no guarantee he'd make anywhere near that much in Europe. There are only a handful of leagues that pay that much and competition for those roster spots is fierce (and European teams put a very high premium on outside shooting).
The people that are negging you, are people that can't handle the truth. He gets nothing out of coming back, other than a degree that he god willing won't ever have to use.
One 10 minute stretch does not account for a much worse year, statistically. His inconsistencies are still prevalent. He has no more games to continue this run. His jump shot is still a question mark. His shot selection is still a question mark.
He is still NBA talent, and while today's effort was incredible (I would've rather lost by 20). It does not account for a sub par season, which is still right on NBA scout's minds.
My heart can’t take another year of this.
he can make more in Europe than in the NBDL. Hello, Athens, or Amsterdam, or Kryrgistan.
... Donovan Warren. Ask him how going out early is working out so far.
Given that the draft hasn't happened yet, he might counter with something witty, like, "I don't know." Or maybe, "We'll see."
But in one month, Warren could let him know.
he's Europe or NBDL bound as a free agent. He sticks around another year, puts a little more muscle on / improves his physical condition, and (yikes) improves his skill set more, he's a 2nd rd pick / end of 1st rd pick with a chance to turn into a Michael Redd / Gilbert Arenas type 2 guard.
Especially if we get better enough to get a tourney slot next year, NCAA games are the places to shine, not 1st game of the day on Day 2 of the Big Ten Tournament.
Michael Redd has always been a lights out shooter. I don't think that's a good comparison at all.
Michael Redd was not known as a shooter when he was drafted out of OSU and that's why he slipped to the 2nd round. Scouts were very surprised when he became such a good shooter.

Says he was a 61% FT shooter his sophomore year at OSU. Not exactly what you look for in a great shooter.
he needs to go in the first round to get the guaranteed money - he can make decent money in Europe, and if he is ready to try that route - that is his fate this year. Unless he truly cannot stand Beilein it is worth it for him to wait another year to see if he can sneak into the end of the first round.
I am sure his "advisors" will advise him though - right now it is only a dollars and cents issue.
I am not sure if Manny is NBA ready but I am also not that sure that another year in the Bielien system makes him that much more ready either. In any event Manny has been stand up and I am glad he stayed on after Tommy Ama-, Tommy Ama-, the coach that will remain nameless.
Beilein's system puts a premium on shooting and taking care of the ball - exactly the two things Manny could use the most work on. Whether he responds to the coaching is another issue.
Theres no way manny is a first round pick and leaving for an unguranteed contract as a second round pick is stupi. If he has anyone in his life that guides him he should stay.
Manny Harris, meet Donovan Warren.
If he brought that emotion and fire that he played with today to every game we would be looking at playing next week.
I hope he stays, I doubt he will, que sera.
unless he wants to, at best, play in europe he'll be back next season
Over the course of this game, my NBA stock rose as much as Manny's.
Are not drooling over one game, only Matt Millen or my six yr old would find a pro roster spot for Manny because of todays events. I can find plenty of game film to tell you he is ready to be a 6th man in Honduras, possibly.

"It just hurt being on the losing end of it."
i watched the game we won clock didnt start right away ohio lost every one knows this but still beilein screwed you guys no way in hell they get that kind of shot if you put some on on turner and the ball
