Michigan a 1 seed in 68-team 2016 college football playoff
Goofy thing ESPN did.
http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/14966737/what-68-team-co…
I'm gonna post it here because they have an annoying autoplay video that you can't turn off.
We're a 1 seed in the Midwest regional.
(1) Michigan Wolverines vs. (16) Cincinnati Bearcats(8) Pittsburgh Panthers vs. (9) Arkansas Razorbacks(5) Georgia Bulldogs vs. (12) Kansas State Wildcats(4) USC Trojans vs. (13) San Diego State Aztecs(6) Washington Huskies vs. (11) Virginia Tech Hokies(3) Tennessee Volunteers vs. (14) Indiana Hoosiers(7) Washington State Cougars vs. (10) Mississippi State Bulldogs(2) Clemson Tigers vs. (15) Georgia Southern Eagles
They say we beat Cincinnati and Arkansas to get to the Sweet 16 and that's where the article ends.

3-0.....

Are you sure? I mean, 7 total wins (and 1 CONFERENCE win) in 2015 between all three non conference opponents is quite a mountain to climb.

We have zero right to tempt anything by talking like we're going to blow out small schools.
No idea how anyone can not be on their toes for every game after the disasters and near-disasters we've witnessed in the last 9 years.

Let's not forget the Minnesota game was the week after one of the most devastating losses we've ever seen. Its amazing they won after that shit show.
The Indiana game came after losing our 2nd or 3rd DL (if you count Ojemudia) for the season. That exposed the awful LBs. It isn't Harbaugh's fault Hoke left no depth.
Are you assuming we'll be injury free this year? What if we lose a few safeties or LBs? What if Wormley or Glasgow goes down? What if O'Korn is a turnover machine? We still don't have a ton of depth and are just a few key injuries away from a challenging situation.

Even if it mattered what fans had to say on this . . . it's March, so it really doesn't.
Because my memory of Michigan football goes back 50 years. The last 9 are just a short readjustment back to where Michigan was the first 41 years I watched.
I don't need to be on my toes. I won't be playing this fall.

PSU won't have enough to beat us at home. Wisky game will be key.

It feels like we haven't played Wisconsin in like 6 years. #B1G

And we only catch Nebraska once in 2018 at home. Next game may be in 2020.

I guess I should have ended my post with a "/s" to indicate sarcasm- but that's my point. How can we go 6 years without playing Wisconsin.
March 15th, 2016 at 12:35 PM ^
We haven't.

Don't tempt the football gods. I'm hoping that some of the areas where we have concerns get resolved in the early games.
O'Korn - Jake was in the same position last year but had four years of exposure to B1G football. Linebacking - Peppers will be used in a scheme that eliminates some of the concerns but beyond that, lots of uncertainty. O-line has very little depth.

2016 QB will also be throwing to 2016 Butt, Chesson and Darboh. Chesson especially made leaps throughout 2015. It sounds like Darboh may have made an off-season leap already (beware Spring-hype, I know). Game 1 2016 will look/feel much differently for the QB than the Utah game last year...including it not being Utah on the road.

I am confident there's no chance for a repeat of that year, not with the night and day difference in the coaching situation.
March 15th, 2016 at 11:31 AM ^
No way is this team more hyped than the 2007 team. You know, the one that started ranked 2nd (I do believe) and then had some very bad things happen once the season started...
March 15th, 2016 at 11:35 AM ^
We started ranked 5.
i.e. App State upset #5 Michigan

THANKS FOR THE REMINDER, IT'S NOT LIKE I'VE BEEN SPENDING YEARS TRYING TO FORGET THAT HAPPENED
March 15th, 2016 at 12:01 PM ^
The SuperGuide makes that nearly impossible for you.
March 15th, 2016 at 11:40 AM ^
I stand corrected. Started ranked #5, but had a team that was loaded with NFL talent from wall to wall - Henne, Hart, Long, Manningham, etc. Even if we start ranked higher than #5 this year (which could be the case), it will be with far more question marks in my mind. That team had 4-year starters at QB, RB and LT coming back.

We had a lot of questions on defense, though. I remember thinking during the 2006 season that it would probably be our best shot at a national title because of all the graduating stars on defense.

it was five, but fans who really watched what went down against OSU and USC and then looked at who we were losing defensively were suspect of the hype. I thought we would be good(certainly beat App. St. for god sake possibly also Oregon) but I did not see us as NC contenders as many believed.
March 15th, 2016 at 11:55 AM ^
Take comfort for the fact that the biggest upset that year against the betting spread was Stanford beating USC! Harbaugh!
March 15th, 2016 at 11:35 AM ^
2007 was, sadly, very hyped as well.
March 15th, 2016 at 11:54 AM ^
As was 2005. Although that year had endless injuries.
Jake Long injury killed us in 2005.
I don't know if this team is more hyped than 2007, but it's probably close. I don't know if the guys we have returning rival Henne, Long, Hart, Manningham, etc.
Oh, it's coming. Hell, if they only beat Colorado by like 10 people will freak out.

I don't know what annoys me more about ESPN, the two morons on First Take or these sort of bizarre thought exercises designed to bringing out the most pipping of hot takes

Both of them are bad, but if we started to squeeze the latter, the former might finally go off the air. After all, just imagine the facilities where these hot takes are made now...
