Another way too early CFB 2016 top ten

Submitted by MgoBlueprint on

Dennis Dodd of CBS sports put together his Way too early top 10 list.

http://www.cbssports.com/video/player/collegefootball/599509571551/0/wa…

1. Clemson

2. Bama

3. OU

4. LSU

5. osu

6. Michigan

7. Baylor

8. Notre Dame

9. Michigan state

10. Houston

I really think that sparty and bama end up atleast 3-5 spots lower. Clemson returns a good bit of talent, but largely benefit from a weak conference slate which will allow them to sneak into the playoffs. I think the winner of the game this year will be the number one seed in the playoffs. Houston could be the new Boise. The Big 12 is the same ol' Big 12 and will probably be left out. In the ACC, I see the winner of Notre Dame-Clemson making the playoffs with FSU playing spoiler in some way.

So why not throw a prediction at the wall and see if it sticks. Im going with Michigan going 11-1, beating both ohio st. and Sparty on the road and losing to either Iowa or Wisconsin. I would go with 12-0, but I have to be realistic. /s

Michigan's may be the strongest team in the entire nation next year in regards to trenches. Im not even concerned about the QB.  What i am concerned about, and IMO the only weakness on the entire team, is LB.

At this time last year, you could have said, "Michigan has no QB."  Harbaugh now has QB's who have been in his system for a year and a freshman who looks like he could start where Rudock left off by the time September comes around.

Michigan returns a lot of great personnel.  Sparty doesn't and plays ND and Wiscy second and third game.  OSU is losing a lot of players to the NFL and plays Oklahoma the third week.  Michigan is going to be the class of the Big Ten next year.  We never know how the games are going to play out, but there is a pretty good chance that Michigan will be the most highly-ranked Big Ten team by the fourth week of the season.

Harbaugh is the QB whisperer. He'll be bringing out the best in a QB who already has over 3k college yards to his credit and over 30 college touchdowns in 1 and a half years of in-game activity. No QB? You see what he did with Rudock? You kiddin me??

MSU may not be on Bama's level but Mike D'Antoni has been recruiting and coaching on a level where they should not be unranked unless shit totally hits the fan in every single aspect... Unless their deal with the devil expires this season (or D'Antoni suddenly forgets how to coach), I don't expect MSU to finish unranked at all next year.

he said "unraked." This could be a newly-minted euphemism hinting at some act of sexual violence along the lines of the other one mentioned in his comment. I don't know; I learn all my trendy memes while lurking here at MgoBlog.

The last time Connor Cook wasn't the starting QB they had a losing season. Shit doesn't have to hit the fan for them to suck. When everyone says they have won 11 games 4 out of 5 seasons, people forget that the one season they didn't, they had one of the best defenses on he nation and couldn't score a touchdown to save their life because they were breaking in a new QB. Now they have to break on something like 9 new offensive starters? They could easily finish the season unranked.

What good is a fan site if it's so politically correct when it pertains to one's rivals? Personally, I don't want the "suckeyes" used all over either. But a thoughtful criticism based on legit reasons. Stop the pussy parade when it comes to defending state, already.

247 Composite for the Tide:

  • 2015 #1
  • 2014 #1
  • 2013 #1
  • 2012 #1

Sensing a pattern here?

In those four classes, there are 21 5-star players.

The freshman class they'll be bringing in currently stands at "only" #8, but just watch come signing day.

A lot of people don't know or forget...Oklahoma opens the next season AT Houston in NRG Stadium (where the Texans play).

That's a HUGE game.

2 weeks later they get OSU at home. And the next game after that they're on the road @TCU.

Brutal schedule for them to open up.

I know OSU is losing a bunch of talent and we're excited about Harbaugh and all, but I see no reason to predict beating OSU on the road.  Will UM close the talent gap with OSU?...sure, but to predict a win on the road in a place we haven't won in 15 years...I'll believe it when I see it.

As much as I hate to say it, you're right. I don't think we have a prayer in Columbus this season, especially not with the questions we have at QB, LB, and OL.

I'll take some bullshit shot in the dark...

  1. Clemson: 13-0
  2. Alabama/LSU: 12-1
  3. Michigan: 13-0
  4. Houston: 13-0

Clemson and ND don't play next year...Clemson runs the table again. Bama and LSU both have tough roads. The one who makes it out with only 1 blemish goes to the playoff.

Michigan goes undefeated in a very 2014 FSU fashion. Close games, a lucky bounce here and there, etc. You could also use Iowa from this year if you take away the terrible defensive drive - difference is, our conference schedule will be better than Iowa's this year.

Houston knocks off the Sooners and skates the rest of the way. However, if they're undefeated late in the year...look for the pressure to mount and a TOUGH game versus Louisville late in the year on November 19th.

The line will continue to gradually improve every year. We lose no one at running back. Our defensive line is going to make life easier for the linebackers. You're the one being a bit delusional.

I am pretty certain that they do not play Notre Dame next year. I believe their trip to South Bend isn't scheduled until 2017. So their schedule is even easier next year.

Houston top 10? Is their talent that deep, or is their schedule that easy? I realize they have great coaching, but..... I can't believe the projected top Pac 12 team wouldn't be top 10 in the country. Stanford will still have McCaffrey. May be mistaken, but I think Stanford and Oregon will still be playing the same system on O & D.
