B1G teams by Twitter followers

Just a stupid little study I did.

Obviously this isn't the best way to judge a fanbase because not everyone uses Twitter.

However, the whole #Footprint thing Delany used as a reason to justify adding Maryland and Rutgers.......Rutgers in particular has some ridiculously low numbers.

Don't pay attention to their follower number in football. It's bunk. I did a Twitter Audit and only 27% of their followers are real.

That's very interesting since most twitter users are young so I'm not sure who exactly is watching Maryland and Rutgers football

But I won't use it, though. It would rank in importance somewhere well below having an MGoPoints Audit done. Without such a thing available, I can tell you right now that approximately 38.7 % of my total were accrued during various posbangs, while estimating that nearly that same percentage of yours are apparel-related. In the end, does it really matter?

What about Instagram and Snapchat friends? I'm eagerly awaiting the threads you will surely post on those topics.

That's because the OSU account is for their entire athletic department, while Michigan is only for football. If we combined all our sports under one account, we would have well over 2 million FB fans. Our basketball page has 441,652 likes, hockey has 138,604, baseball has 83,897, softball has 72,671 etc.

Disrespekt continues for staee!  Even after their few good years on the field, they have only about a third of the followers we do in football, but still like to complain about us getting all the media attention, to bad there are not enough staee fans who have ever heard of twitter.

And what about BB!?!?

Why did you use OSU's athletics account not football account? If you combine those two accounts they have over 400k, while Michigan's athletics account has less than 20k.

I guess I'm most surprised Northwestern sits at the bottom of this.  Smart people use twitter -- or so I've been led to believe, since I don't use it.

Good Lord, why did I have to scroll 40 posts down before someone finally mentioned the content of the post?

I apparently have a bunch of fake followers too, but I already knew that.  No one would follow me on purpose.
