I'm wondering if Blake shoul've picked up the ball and gone with it on the field gol - bad snap on a long field goal - iffy that they'll get it off anyways. On the extra point, shorter distance gives you some more room to work - you're less likely to come up short.

He fielded a roller and still got it in place. He's supposed to be able to calculate his options in that situation? And even still, picking it up and running is a sure turnover on downs. At least he gave the kicker a chance...

Just a bit torqued up at 2am here.

No worries - you make a valid point.
Just wondering what the default move is - as you suggested, little time, manages to field it, and almost saves it - probably should place it.
I think in the case of the fumbled snap a few weeks back, the general consensus was that he should have jumped on it in that situation. At another point in the game, maybe he still tries to kick it.
I guess I don't really know what the holder/punter are coached to do.

Blake O'Neill can play football. He may be an Aussie, but the dude saved the PAT and almost saved a FG earlier in the game.

Thank you Hoke for using a scholarship on a longsnapper...

teams. They have not played well the last few games. Howerve, they got it done at the end.

When you use a scholarship on a longsnapper, you expect him to be better.

Why do we have a longsnapper on scholarship if he can barely snap the ball?

I know what you mean. Our special teams have been verrrryyyy iffy the past couple of games (and in the play-that-shall-not-be-named) and our longsnapper seems to have had something to do with that.
Baxter's got a bit of explaining to do.

almost cost us the game. His snap vs MSU on the last play was low and to the right, but O'Neill caught all the flak.

We need a perfect ST next two weeks. We needed that advantage. Without that, this team is not going to win the next two.
No missed Field Goals. We cannot give up any major yards or TD on Special Teams. We need to stop kicking to people as much as possible. Someone found a hole in our punt coverage and it needs to plugged.
Overall, I still think our ST is pretty good and it is an advantage. S*** happens in some games.

Blake O'Neill saved our ass twice--whether or not our kicker actually connected on the kick.
This kid is my favorite player on the team.
