Jourdan Lewis is Staying
I came to Michigan to get my education not to leave in three years.

So that's pretty good.

Should read "Jourdan Lewis Says He's Staying." As much as we want this to be a true, a lot can change between now and the draft, especially if he gets a first-round draft grade.

He has one.

of the linebacker on our roster can be average BIG linebackers, and no unforeseen attrition, it could be best defense that Michigan has fielded in my lifetime including 97. We have Mone coming back as well.

But seriously, I'm glad he sees the value in education. I mean, he'll make a ton of money in the NFL, but oftentimes athletes are very short-sighted in that regard...most careers in the NFL are short and fleeting. You could call it a risk because the potential of injury next year might damage draft stock or worse, but to me there's also significant risk to NOT complete your education especially from a place like Michigan, and that never really gets discussed as part of the risk equation.

young man. Play well under a great staff, and get your degree. Then you'll be best of both worlds.
Worst case scenario is that (God Forbid) an injury happens... and you still have your degree.

Yes, kids can and often do change their minds, but JL had no reason to say anything definitive on this matter at this point and time. The fact he laid it out there tells me that he is serious about it. I think we see him suit up next year in the Maize and Blue.

He is only going to raise his draft status, and his eventual contract, with another improvement year at corner, he will be a year older, and more ready for the NFL, where playing corner is no picnic.

I see two truths in what you wrote 1) he will be a year older and 2) playing corner in the NFL is no picnic. Everything else is optimistic assumptions, which I hope come true.

They are nice, though I don't really know how to handle them because I became a Michigan fan in 2009 when I attended as a freshman...so things haven't been so nice (at least on the football side...things were real nice on the bball side - Beilein is nice!)

MGo: The end zone has always been for loading and unloading of passers. There's never stopping in a red zone.
Lewis: Don't you tell me which zone is for loading, and which zone is for stopping!
MGo: Listen Jourdan, don't start up with your red zone shit again.
MGo: There's just no stopping in a red zone.
Lewis: Oh really, Brian? Why pretend, we both know perfectly well what this is about. You want me to stay at Michigan.
MGo: It's really the only sensible thing to do, if it's done safely. Therapeutically there's no danger involved.

No parking baby. No parking in the red zone.

There is a lot of time between now and February, but this is a great sign and a great indication of the kind of belief that is building in the program.
Very glad that he's planning on staying to get his degree and hopefully do something special next year.

I love it, but it's true that guys almost always say this while the season's going on. If he and all the other juniors do in fact come back, 2016 is going to be a lot of fun.

I know he is sky rocekting on draft boards but why did he come out and say this? Was there some scuttlebutt about him leaving or something?
