Florida State Equals Michigan

WE KNOW HOW YOU FEEL. Georgia Tech blocks Field Goal. Returns forTD to win with no time. SERIOUSLY EMPATHIZE WITH YOU ALL SEMINOLES. One I know that messed up punctuation means something. I only mean they know how it feels to lose on the last play, and YES they were as stunned as us.

It was vastly different but pretty terrible in its own right.

We were winning and pretty much just had to not fuck up. This game was tied and FSU was far from certain from winning the game.

And The decision for us to punt it was a reasonable call and I'm pretty confident jimbo will be criticized for trying a 58 yd FG. Even NFL teams rarely try kicks that long. Plus He learned nothing from Sabans fuckup a few yrs ago.

this may end up drawing more attention to our play because everyone will be comparing the two. So why don't we all continue what we have been doing and not talk about it anymore.

Not that I much care, but UM's will always feel more inexplicable because MSU didn't really "do" anything to cause the play to occur.  I mean, GT blocked a FG and returned it for a TD; there's some real agency  by GT to win that game.  By comparison, MSU just fell into a botched snap and a wobbly kick directly to their rusher.  If FSU had fumbled the snap and GT just picked it up and ran it in, it would feel closer.

Still, a crazy end to a game.

Nope, not even close.

1. Long FGs get blocked often.

2. They were seconds from an OT on the road, so less than a coin flip's chance to win. Espeically considering GaTech loves playing small ball, 25 yard field in a phone booth. GT most likely wins anyway.

3. FSU has won a lot of shit in the past 7 years whereas we haven't.

4. GaTech's coach looked almost embarrassed to win the game that way. MSU's piece of shit coach in lieu of shaking Harbaugh's hand mocked our student section by yelling, "where are the Michigan fans now?!?" after we kicked their asses with a MAC quarterback in Harbaugh's first year and our punter dropped the snap.

So yeah, not close at all.

Jesus, the people wallowing in their own misery in this board sometimes.....our loss was worse, blah, blah. Who fucking cares. Both were last play of the games on special teams, on plays that rarely happen.

Amen. I can't believe the arguments people are posting about how much worse ours was to theirs. It's getting pretty pathetic. Some should be thankful this happened. Michigan memes were even beginning to spill over into unrelated sport pages and some here act as if being butthurt is a honor that only Michigan fans should wear. Sheesh. Take a cue from Disney.... Let it go

Just because it involved a kick doesnt make it the same.

The criminoles were kicking to win out of a tie. The Wolverines had the game almost wrapped up entirely.

GT's QB was 4 for 10 with 2 intercerceptions. He kaepernicked the hell out of it and still won.

Meanwhile, Golson looked all american compare to Rudock.

This was a blocked FG, not a fumbled punt snap.

The only thing in common is it was the last play of the game.

You say Golson, here is what comes to mind:

1) 22 turnovers last year at ND (14 picks, 4 of which were a Pick 6, and 8 fumbles lost).

2) Has never won a championship of any kind.

3) Booted out of school for an academic scandal.

Doesn't look like an "All American" to me.

how when this was a news flash on the Fox broadcast of the USC/Utah game and the reporter said "Remember the ending of MSU/Michigan last week?" to start it off and Gus Johnson responded with a rather irritated tone "Yes, we do remember MSU/Michigan."

It's pretty funny that the one national TV football announcer who is a known Michigan fan rarely if ever announces Michigan games.

As OP says, sure we sympathize, and yes I'll be thrilled for the media and both UM and msu fans to move on, but I think the biggest difference here is that the FSU-GT game shouldn't have even been close. Michigan/MSU was supposed to be a close game.

It matters 'cuz it shows that shit happens. The MSU game was a fluke. Just like the GT-FSU game. A fluke. Shit happens in CFB on a regular basis.

UM will be fine.

Only see from your perspectives. I don't much care for Florida State but the point is that they are feeling what we felt. Sure it's worse for us because of the in state rivalry but they lost on a fluke play just like us. That's the point. Pathetic that I had to clarify that.

Let's just....stop talking about it. It happened. It was a horrible act of the football gods. It sucked. It's never going to happen again. The end.

FSU suffered a loss in a very improbable way that was still orders of magnitude more likely than what happened to us. Plus it required actual skull by GT. Plus there's a difference between

you have to admit that this was pretty improbable too  I mean, the GT players were even running around waving their arms yelling "Don't touch it! Don't touch it!" when the guy just said "Screw it, I'm picking it up!"  Talk about a heads up play to realize he had a shot to take it to the house even with half his team yelling at him to leave it be.

Going from winning to losing is obviously worse, but the FSU ending was still incredibly improbable.  I wonder what chance they really had to hit that 56 yard FG?  Even most pro kickers are pushing it at that distance.

I have to say this.  I was on both ends of this from one week to the next.  I was at the FSU/GT game tonight, Section 205, Row 15, Seats 26 and 27, with my dad.  When Lance Austin went into the endzone, I started weeping and just gave him the biggest boa constrictor hug I've maybe ever given.  All of the heartache watching Tech this season was washed away in one play.  I realize this is a Michigan board and the loss last week hurts, yes, I get it, it took me 72 hours to get over it.  But there are a few of us here who were on the happy side of the Block Six tonight.
