Pizzeria inside this giant cinema/entertainment complex in Sofia, Bulgaria. I don't know if it was the cheese, the sauce, the crust, all three, or something else, but I'm convinced I'll never eat pizza that good again unless I go back.
Runner-up would be kebabs I had at this little roadside place in Thessaloniki. I'm sure I've had other things as good here in the States, but anything during the military days just implants in memory more readily because they'd have been surrounded by days of blandness.

Correct, though it was a year. Definitely far more desirable than my other two deployments.

How was your meal at 41 degrees? Ive wanted to go since Albert and Ferran Adria closed El Bulli and Albert opened 41 Degrees and Tickets. They both look awesome.
Incredibly inventive. Some of the best seafood I've ever had in my life...razor clam sashimi, olive-oil cured sardines, octopus were some standout dishes.
We were also a bit tipsy when we left...a number of the 'courses' were mixed drinks of various types.
Tickets was a bit more traditional Catalan fare, but with a molecular twist. It's a la carte/tapas style as opposed to the prix fixe that 41 Degrees was. Also cool in that many of the seats are bar-style, so you can see the chefs put together the plates.
My Grandmother made awesome cinnamon rolls.
Best meal - Michel Guérard
Best dish - My father's sweetbreads with buerre noir
Best taste - A perfectly ripe Michigan peach
That's the problem, you have to grow them yourself or know someone who does. All the peaches you buy are picked before they are ripe. To get the perfect peach, you have to pick it when it's ripe or very nearly so.
The neck of a Pacific bluefin caught off of Hokkaido. My ex-wife's uncle is a fish broker in the port of Kesennuma, he sold most of the fish for a fortune to a Tokyo distributor, kept the neck and part of the belly for us.
Close second is a stack of live uni in shell on the island of Oshima off of Kesennuma. Simply amazing.

Best pizza: Stravaganze in Rio...it was ridiculously good. Patzeria Family & Friends in NYC is also awesome

Best burger: My own (Bison man, bison)
Best mexican: El Grand Rodeo in VA also went to an awesome place in FL, but I can't remember the name of it
Best Beer: Brooklyn Blast although, I love Bell's and Magic Hat #9. Sierra Nevada is a cheaper staple.
Best lobster/chowder: James Hook & Co in Boston
I can't think of my favorite Italian...I LOVE Italian. Can't think of favorite Chinese either.
The Shrimp Po Boy at Shagger Jack's in Oak Island, NC is amazing (Prime Rib Nachos at Hops Supply in Wilmington, NC are also incredible)

Country ham so salty you had to have her sweet tea next to you, or her fried chicken or maybe her cream corn or chicken and dumplings, maybe her bacon or the green beans she made with bacon in it. Whatever it was, granny Ada made it best. And if you're thinking how unhealthy it was ( and it was unhealthy ) this granny from Bowling Green Ky lived well into her 90's. Oh how I've missed her cooking for the past 40 years.
I forgot her biscuits from scratch. She lived on a farm so all was home grown.
made with veal. And oysters fresh from Tomales Bay.
Or maybe hungarian-style stuffed cabbage.

My wife's rack of lamb with new rosemary potatoes, or my mom's fresh, pan-seared scallops.
My mouth waters just thinking about them.
The lamb tenderloins at rattlesnake were quick delicious also.
Edit: also the calamari at BGH.
Edit 2: Chichen mole tacos at Taquito in Houston.
Literally unbelievable.

Goh Risotto at Da Romano on the island of Burano off of Venice. It was featured in the Venice episode of No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain. My family and I were the only people in the restaurant as the Buranese (?) were all on vacation at the time. To go with the risotto, we had a salt baked sea bass and a bottle of fisherman's grappa, which is grappa that they infuse with kelp. Absolutely delicious.
