...then Chryst
...then Riley
Next question.

Different with Chryst and Hoke is that Chryst was a OC at Wiscy when they were successful and made that run with Bert.
He does know the program but also was a huge part of making Wiscy what it is today.
This year I'd say Chryst and Riley probably have more wins simply because they are in the crappy west.
That's laughable
You aren't really serious in thinking that Hoke would still be at Michigan if he had taken over for Carr. RR got a decimated team with no QB and almost no upperclassmen thanks to transfers. Hoke got a team that won 11 games even as square pegs being forced into round holes.
Your admiration of Hoke is, uh, admirable...
Chryst isn't a Wisconsin guy. He is a Barry Alvarez guy. The latter is more important.

Chryst 9 wins, Harbaugh 8 wins, Riley 8 wins. Harbaugh just doesnt have the horses yet.
the game of football is played with people.
Why the hostility toward this dude? Seems like a straight shooter.
even considering Alabama will probably club them in game 1, their next toughest game is @Nebraska and then....@Maryland? Iowa? @Minnesota?
They should get to 9-3 easy and might get to 11-1 without much difficulty
OTOH we have @Utah, BYU, MSU, @PSU & OSU. Our schedule is just way tougher
When Harbaugh is an option..Harbaugh is the answer
Marital problems?....Harbaugh as therapist
Car broke down? Harbaugh can fix it
Need a 5 star meal prepared for your anniversary date? harbaugh's on it.
Always choose Harbaugh

Heart says Harbaugh, head says Chryst. Harbaugh's an objectively better coach, but Wisconson has more talent (based on prior performance) and a MUCH easier schedule. 5 years from now though, Harbaugh has significantly more wins.

This year, Chryst. I think he'll do good things at Wiscy both short and long-term. Eclipsed by Harbaugh long-term, of course.
Riley, well, I think the Huskers are about to find out just how effective Pelini was and how much they're going to miss him. I guess I won't be shocked if the Huskers hit 9 wins, but I really think 7 is more likely purely based on the coaching change.
Wisconsin never has QBs
Mr. Russell Wilson scoffs at this notion (I know, a 1 year rental QB). Tolzien actually had some good years, and Brooks Bollinger was a pain in the side for many years, though. It's not Quarterback U by any stretch of the imagination (Running Back U, or O-Line U?).

He's in the 'freshman' season of his 8th $5 million/year extension.
That being said, Harbaugh is definitely the best option for long term, high level success. Wisconsin has been good, but unable to get over the hump since Ron Dayne was on the field. And Mike Riley accomplished next to nothing at Oregon State.

Are any of the other rookie coaches Harbaugh's? If not, Harbaugh.
Harbaugh.

2) Jay Harbaugh
3) Chryst
4) Riley
As others have pointed out, if the schedules were equal, Harbaugh comes out ahead. But the schedules aren't equal. Wisconsin does open against Alabama, but should win easily in the rest of the OOC schedule. Then they get the other B1G west teams and their crossover games are with Rutgers and Maryland. Nebraska plays BYU as the one OOC that should be difficult for them (Miami looks to have another mediocre team this year) and do have to play MSU in one of their crossover games, Rutgers in the other.
If Michigan were playing either Nebraska's or Wisconsin's schedule, I would have them at 10-11 wins. But Harbaugh doesn't get those schedules. I think the liklihood is that Michigan will have 8 or 9 wins. Nebraska and Wisconsin should be able to each win 9 games.
I still can't believe Harbaugh is really our coach. Went to the spring game, saw him, and it was like a celebrity guest coach. Won't believe it for real until probably half time at the Utah game.
That said, Harbaugh will have the most wins of the three this year.
Actually, this is more of a mixed bag. Harbaugh was the home run hire (upgrade), Chryst was the understandable hire (willing to concede), and Riley was the WTF hire (no).
