I love it...
That is all....

As a retired college wrestler*, I think there are a few other bastions of hope for toughness in America. Some boxers (IMO, the toughest), triathletes, marathoners, swimmers, soccer players, LAX players, hockey players, etc., might also have something to say about this.
But I loved the interview all the same. He's the right guy at the right place at the right time. We're in good hands.
*Not that great of one, FTR.

I love football. I think Wrestling is the greatest sport in the world. I am biased.
IMHO I'd put pro boxers/Collegiate wrestlers/MMA guys all up there very high on the toughness quotient (TQ?)
Guys like Spielman or Molk amaze me, but I dont' necessarily think they are that much tougher than a Mayweather or a Severn.
being a wrestler and a qb too for that matter, is that at some point your hands will smell like butt.

occupation has its hazards...
LAX?
Briant Gumbel did not like that comment. Maybe he prefers flag football.

A good half of the threads in the last 24 hours or thereabouts have been either directly or secondarily related (i.e., there was some mention in the thread) to Jim Harbaugh and there is no evidence of shame yet. To that end, the normal mod guidance on this subject would be that - by all means - continue to post Harbaugh things should you have such things to post.
after all, he had an accent. /s
For those who didn't read it prior...it has the quotes that people keep mentioning in this thread.

Sure, just like any cult of personality.
The chances of this guy not imploding at some point are low but my hope is that he fixes the program before it happens.
Huh?

He lived in my hall at UM back in the day. He's very quirky and self-centered and prone to making immature and stupid comments. And he does wear out his welcome.
Having said that, he is a great evaluator of talent and coach who will turn the program around. But let's not make a dem-god out of him as he has plenty of faults.

Actually, based on his antics over the past years, his MO is similar now to what it was back then.
Like I said, great coach but don't get to wrapped up in the cult of personality. I saw him do some things that should have had him banned from the university permanently. I am not alone -- still get together with some of my dorm mates and we all have mixed feelings on his hire. It has taken seven years of abject RichRod and Hoke failure to make his hire even moderately palatable.
We are, BTW, a group of doctors, attorneys, and business leaders and not 18 year old posting board trolls.

And as evenyoubrutus has implied, that was a long time ago and Jim has drastically improved in many areas. I don't think anyone here doesn't realize he has faults. But, much of the "demi-god" characterization is tongue and cheek.

Sounds like "Mr. Stole-yo-gurrlllll"
No, but he hit one in the face front of me while drunk one night.
If you're gonna come out with something like that, come with a little more substance. What hall/year? Got some names to drop? You can't just say something like that with a twelve day old account and expect people to take you seriously.
No Internet and no smart phones back then.
A lot of stuff got swept under the rug.
It was in Taylor house in 1982.
are you saying he wore out his welcome in YOUR hall? Did you ever consider that maybe, just maybe, he didn't think it was fair back then that you were claiming ownership of that residence hall. I know I not only would have resented such a claim, I'd also have made plenty of immature, stupid, and even smarmy comments! (not that I would now anymore, being older and obviously wiser)
/s
There wasn't any complaining at Stanford, just with a multi-millionaire pro who is known to have some issues himself.

Nothing that we haven't already heard. The only downer was Bryant Gumble opening his pie hole.

I don't know what space-time continuum you're living in but my kids play sports on club teams. Kids try out, kids get cut, coaches yell, some kids cry, and there's an intense pressure to win. On airline flights you see always kids who are obviously playing on some sort of traveling club team zipping across the country. You don't think there's a drive or pressure to do well?
