NCAA Tournament - Trimming Down The Elite Eight (Open Thread)

Submitted by LSAClassOf2000 on

Two teams will make an exit tonight, but for now, you've got:

Wisconsin / Arizona - going right now on TBS. 10-2 Wisconsin with 16:09 to go in the 1st.

Later on:

Notre Dame / Kentucky - that could be intriguing

Well Miller just gave Wisconsin the game by not fouling when down 5 with 50 seconds to go. You can't let them bring the clock down that far when down by 5, Jesus. Then they top it off with a 3 anyway, dumbass.

1) Fuck the committee for putting those two teams in the same region.

2) Wisconsin is literally unbeatable if they make shots like that.  Kentucky better hope they cool off.

and they seem to have an extra gear.  In crunch time, they just kick it up another notch and just grind you.  They did it to us in overtime, to MSU in the B1G tournament, against UNC on Thursday and now to Arizona.

Lucky for us and the rest of the B1G, Kamenski, Jackson, Gasser and Duken are all seniors and hopefully Dekker will head for the NBA.

w/ Kelly Tripuka, Bill Laimbeer, Orlando Woolridge, Bruce Flowers (from Berkley MI), and Bill Hanzlik in 1979, they just don't iritate me like their football team.  (I'm name dropping to show how long it's been since ND basketball has been nationally relevant.)

They also haven't been featured on NBC (the Notredame Broadcasting Company) in spite of years of mediocrity.

I mean, which players do you actually hate?  Or go a step further.  Until the tourney this year, which Notre Dame basketball players could you actually name from the past 25 years?

Ugh. This is exactly why I hate that guys can foul out in basketball. Auguste is playing well but he's going to sit on the bench for the rest of the half and the whole 2nd half might be affected because of an absolutely awful call for his first foul.

I was wondering before the game if mean-reversion would kick in after Kentucky's destruction of West Virginia.

That had to have inflated the Kentucky players expectations, and must have caused a bit of frustration when Kentucky didn't just steamroll ND at the beginning of the game.

I feel like ND played almost as good a half as they possibly could aside from improbably hitting contested threes. Kentucky had many unforced turnovers. If Kentucky gets it together I think ND has no chance. But you never know. Go Cats.

Great game by the badgers. Wisconsin is money in crunch time. I hope Kentucky goes home early. After watching them steamroll teams without breaking a sweat, it's nice to see a ND punch them in the mouth. Hope ND can finish it in 2nd half.

Night not going well:

1)  I just thought, what if it is MSU that beats Kentucky to ruin Kentucky's perfect season and win the national championship (at the same time)?

2)  Chris Webber - I said, "oh, look, it's Chris Webber."  My wife responded, "Timeout!  Who is that?"  Not cool

You're getting negged by somebody on here, but I'm pulling for ND too. I can see hating their football team, but I don't carrying any real hard feelings toward their basketball team. Why should we be pulling for Kentucky's program to have even more bragging rights?
