Just showed me this viral gag on her mobile. Wassup with that?

From a human sensory viewpoint, the dress is blue and black. The light reflected and refracted by the camera overexposure produces the appearance of gold and other colors and tones.

Now if the dress is worn by a hot woman, who cares what color? Color, there was color?

Well, to me personally, it looks like a blue dress with black lace adornments, if you will. More importantly, it looks suspiciously like the kitchen curtains in my mother's parents' house, the same curtains that my mother - every time we would visit - would offer to replace so she no longer had to stare at them.

Apparently if you see blue and black, your blue spectrum color vision is more acute than people who see white and gold...

I've yet to look at it and think gold and white. I don't even understand why this is a thing.

EDIT: I even grabbed the colors from the Chrome color picker.. it's definitely blue and black. The pixels don't lie.

I see white and gold on this site, but blue and black on another site. It's another viral sham that's making us all just a little less intelligent.

I understand that some people's S cones are desensitized but not to the point to where the eye and brain interpret all light is being reflected (white) or all light being absorbed (black). I'd believe it more if some said it was more of a green blue or indigo/violet and brown dress. Even if it was true, it still does not explain why someone can see white and gold one minute but black and blue the next minute.

I very clearly see gold. I saw gold half an hour ago.

My girlfriend showed me a clear image (with good lighting) of the actual dress, and there's no question it is black and blue.

I cannot stop seeing gold and light blue above.

EDIT: By the way, this is the dress on Amazon. ZERO question that it is black and blue.

My wife couldn't see it, so I did a little photoshopping. Now she sees it. Take the main pic. Block out everything but the shaded area in the upper left. Now run it through a couple of contrast enhancers. Looks darker, but the hues haven't changed.

Now unblock it. Bam. Blue/Black.

I saw nothing but white and gold from my phone, I'm about 50/50 on my computer (it looked black and blue this time) and I don't see how trying has anything to do with it.

Edit: I'm only seeing black and blue now on, possibly due to Blazefire's post but possibly not?

It's white with gold trim, but due to the ultra crappy photography, there's a blue hue.  Google it and you'll find somebody who cleaned up the picture.  I have zero idea how anyone sees black anywhere, however.
