Hail & Unite minions have been deployed

Submitted by DISCUSS Man on

together, we can unite against Hail & Unite. their youtube video is getting smoked with dislikes. i invite everyone on here with a youtube or gmail account to get on there and leave a comment and dislike the thing.

They have deployed their minions across twitter, most likely the friends and or family of those working on this awful thing. Also, their lackys have began posting (fake) comments on the video to try to drown out the negative responses.

Together, we can do this.

What if he's trolling us, and THIS is his way of uniting and energizing the fan base?...and the stuff about the song is just the bait that we're all taking.

Is that "AW" logo in the lower right corners a real thing, or did you just add it as part of your impersonation schtick?

I can't be sure.  I could easily see this self-absorbed dweeb thinking that every drunk selfie he takes is so AWESOME that it needs a style-ized logo in the corner (of his own initials of course).

That video would only have 12 views if you didn't post it on mgoboard. Reposting it is just giving them more views. I understand what you're trying to do and I completely agree with you, but Hail and Unite would probably be dead already without Brian's post and these threads. Just ignore these losers and let it die.

Make your dumb song.  Sell a billion records.  I don't care.

Just don't try to co-opt our tradition and drag my alma mater into your tacky, culturally tone-deaf burlesque show.

Exactly this.

If he and his groupies wanted to make a song (and a documentary about how cool they looked doing it) to be played at Frat parties, we'd be like, whatever, knock yourself out.  Try not to get beat up.

But I deeply resent this self-promoting tool douchebag hijacking the honor and traditions of Michigan to do it.

And then insulting us by asserting that those traditions are somehow lacking, and they need a gimmicky song to "unite" the fan base, and that he's the chosen one to create said song.

Look, change the name of your group to "I'm desperate for a way to get famous so I am going to make up a pointless song that you will then ignore", and we'll all be friends.

1.)  I am considering asking them over and over why they are trying to replace The Victors in an attempt to make everyone involved in this narcisitic pursuit desire slamming their heads against a wall much like I do every time they continue to try to further this misguided agenda.  Newslash, we get it's not a replacement and guess what, it's still a terrible idea.

2.) Guess what else, there is already a song that accomplishes the stated mission of your project and it's called The Victors.

3.) GO AWAY.

I think you are seeing such strong views mostly because the game day experience has been chipped away at for years and people are sick of it.  It wasn't broken, let it be.  The mere thought of yet another manufactured attempt to improve the atmosphere and elicit so much pride that fans and alums will have an overwhelming desire to UNITE is on par with a DJ in Crisler, two tickets with a Coke and the WOW factor.

The enitre soundtrack of the video is pretty much a MARCHING BAND DRUMLINE.  And the video itself shows all kinds of acoustic instruments, none of which are actually heard in the video.

But their entire premise, as they stated, was to create some sort of a "pump up song from the music industry".  The music industry doesn't really write songs for marching band drumlines, and only writes songs for acostic instrumets like french horns once in a blue moon.

So, what the hell is their video representing?  Are they trying to create a pop song?  If so why is their video full of shots of acoustic instruments and backed by a drumline soundtrack, neither of which have ANYTHING to do with a pop song?

We've already got shit-tons of drumline music at the football games.  It's called the Michigan Marching Band.   Why do we need Hail and Unite to bring us more drumline?

They are desperately trying to get famous and are looking for a vehicle to do it with.  Any vehicle.

It does not really matter to them what it is, it just happens to be our luck that they are students at Michigan so they latched on to this.

If they were British kids, they'd be working on a pump up hype video to accompany "God Save the Queen" and reUNITE the British Empire.

Whatever gets them noticed.

Giving zero f**cks about this. They could play the theme song to my little ponies as long as we are smashing the team with the wrong colors!!! Winning football will unite the hail out everyone.

I hadn't really been paying much attention to this because, well, just not that interested. But since it keeps hitting the fan, I went back and read the Daily article, and this portion caught my eye:

"The Hail and Unite organization asked CSG to allocate $2,750 from its Legislative Discretionary Fund to the project: $1,750 would go toward funding for a promotional video to recruit donations from students, and $1,000 would go toward “speaker fees,” or accommodations for potential visiting contributors."

So basically, they want money to make a video to get more money. Evidently, they're following the timeless advice of Max Bialystock from "The Producers": "NEVER PUT YOUR OWN MONEY IN THE SHOW!"

The video has a release date of 3/19/15, which is kind of close to the end of the academic year. I'm putting my +750 bet on this being a senior marketing or communications class troll project.
