Every year that Pacquiao gets older guess who else gets older? Mayweather. Bob Arum is the reason Pacman lost a stupid decision to Timothy Bradley and he is the reason this fight has been delayed. Either way, Mayweather in a wipeout...

Floyd was always the better fighter and would have beaten Pac 5 years ago. Hell, he would have beaten the PED version of Pac. The problem with making this fight now is that Pac is going to get tested so he can't juice. Further, Pac has aged far worse than Mayweather and has taken far greater beatings over the past few years.

Floyd by boring 12 round humiliation. 119-109

Assuming you have (have followed Floyd since his Jr. Lightweight days), I can name roughly 4 fights where he was supremely confident - Sharmba Mitchell, Carlos Baldomir, Chop Chop Corley, Arturo Gatti (RIP). Reason? He was noticeably faster than either and knew his reflexes would keep him out of trouble. Mitchell wasn't a big puncher; Gatti, much slower as well as Baldomir. Chop Chop Corley is one of the first fights fights where caught a clean punch, and that's primarly because this was one of the first fights (the first?) where Roger Mayweather was in his corner (Sr. was in jail) - and Roger wanted him to open up more on offense at the expense of defense.

Otherwise nope.

People get caught up in the "Money" character. He did that on purpose; part of the reason he and Arum fell out (he wanted to cater to a more urban demographic, which is why he ditched the "Pretty Boy Floyd' nickname when he was a fighting at Super Feather). But overconfident and unprepared? ROFL. There's a reason why he has the highest hit/miss percentage in CompuBox history - by a good margin, and it's not because he comes into fights overconfident.

Expect an approach similar to Saul Alvarez where he respects his opponent's punching power and puts extra emphasis on defense, lead rights, and pull counters. Funny thing about Manny: even Marquez was of the opinion that his more orthodox approach to boxing makes it...easier to counter, and there is no better counterpuncher in the game than Floyd Mayweather. Nod to Guillermo (sp) Rigondeaux.

Does that mean Floyd will win? No. The issue for Floyd will be manufacturing points against a fighter as busy as Manny (he'll come forward similarly to Ricky Hatton). Manny claims that he'll smother him, but we've heard that from many fighters.

And Mayweather is still undefeated.

Agree with all points. Floyd's +/- is unmatched, especially considering the number of fights. We've heard it so many times: "He's got the speed to catch Floyd," or "he's never fought a puncher like this." They all end the same. I'm not saying Manny can't win, but I don't see it happening.

The New York Post had some stuff on the potential split here -

The long anticipated bout at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas will almost surely break every financial record ever, and make both boxers richer than ever. Mayweather could earn $120 million or more, while Pacquiao’s split of the purse will likely be around $80 million.

As someone who only casually followed boxing over the years, I have to say that I would watch two fighters do this for some split of $200 million or so.

Manny has slowed down, doesn't have as much power behind his punches.

Mayweather is going to pick him apart.

5 years ago, would have been a much different fight.

My boxing trainer is one of guys at Wild Card and he swears that Mayweather can't hurt Manny and that the fight will be decided on whether Mayweather's legs hold up over the course of the fight. Most people think Mayweather's legs are "gone" and he won't be able to keep away from Manny for 12 rounds.

He was not saying this three years ago as he thought Mayweather would beat Manny.  My money is on Money, however, I thought I would pass this along.

You need a trainer to tell you Mayweather can't hurt a fighter? He had like 12 KOs in his career. He is a master technician but has no power and rarely even tries. He's content to land a few punches and back away. Hopefully Pacquiao can catch up to him but no one is worried Mayweather will knock him out.

insane. I don't think Floyd is going to enjoy facing a lefty with such power...but I wish this fight happened 5 years ago. That said...I can't wait to follow the lead up to this fight on HBO and watch these two get into the ring. #TheFightIsOn

I hope this is the fight we've been hoping and waiting for. I may actually buy it. I don't know if their age permits it, but it could be fight one of two or three.

the best fight that should have happened 5 years ago.   It still should be epic.  Mayweather slightly bigger frame guy but probably won't knock Manny out.  Decision could go either way training/conditioning a key always but particularly guys at this age (36-37).  Vegas will slightly favor Mayweather with the undefeated record but I am picking Pac man in a decision.
