4* on ESPN and 247.
3* on Rivals.

3 * on 247 composite, so I assume Scout has him as a 3.

I would immediately switch if someone put a monocle on my avatar image.

Every time I hear about another offer, it makes me nervous about the intntions of every other recruit that we are pursuing. It's going to be a long six days.

Eh, six days. How many times in December did we say, "it's going to be a long time to the end of the NFL season."
At least in the middle of those six days, Tom is gonna get his fourth ring and I can finally say TAKE THAT to all my Notre Dame / Montana-fan relatives. And my Steeler-fan spouse.

Names are getting weirder and weirder these days.
In addition to hyphens and apostrophes, now we have parentheses and lower case letters.
January 29th, 2015 at 3:37 PM ^
I've seen people named "(no middle)."

I've never followed recruiting that closely, so maybe someone can answer a question for me.
We've been sending out offers like crazy lately, for a class with a limited number of scholarships.
Now let's say that 25 guys accept their offers, but we only have 15 scholarships to give out. What happens to the other 10 guys? Their offers get rescinded? And if so, how would the staff decide which ones to let go? First come, first served? Or based on talent?
Admittedly it's an unlikely scenario, but it's a slow news day.

In the past, when a slot was filled (e.g., OL) the coaches would notify the other recruits who would have filled that slot that it was no longer available and that the offer was rescinded. Of course, one or more slots could be reserved for "best available athlete," so a lower-graded OL might be told his offer was gone, but a stud OL might still have an offer open.

It's typically a first-come, first-served situation. But that type of thing won't happen, so I wouldn't worry about it. You might go one or two over, and the last guys to commit just have to go elsewhere.

It's not possible for 25 recruits to accept their offers simultaneously. They generally know how many players a team want to take at their position. They know they can miss out if they wait too long. Exceptions will be made for a handful of guys like Marshall, as long as there is any room at all.
There are such things as non-committable offers, too. Alabama is well known for them, but they're not uncommon. John Beilein won't extend offers unless players make a visit to campus, get the academic tour, send in their transcripts, etc. Other coaches might send out offers, but they are contingent on various things.

We've been going after a lot of New Jersey players for a while. There's a huge east coast contingent in Ann Arbor, and there are good football players in the state of New Jersey. Plus it's now a part of the Big Ten imprint. J.B. Fitzgerald, Brandon Smith, Jabrill Peppers, Marcus Witherspoon, Anthony Lalota...

Sad to think how many of those guys you listed actually panned out or made a name for themselves. I remember being really excited for all of them but then again nothing really panned out for RR during his tenure here, save Denard.
Jabrill Peppers will hopefully buck that trend.

Here is a 2012 piece on Collins. The guy actually transferred back to UM to get his degree after transferring to Syracuse to attempt a comeback. Nice story.
